View Full Version : Dilemma

Currently my team does not have an enchanter on it…I boosted them making professions very difficult.
My main account has a Death Knight; currently 430/450 enchanting that I could move over my 5th account where the lowest of my DPS sits – Balance Druid
My dilemma is adding a melee dps to the group of multi-functional casters; I usually run with my tank window as primary, having the group spread out but still able to watch them. Adding a second melee dps complicates matters; getting her out of the way of whirlwind mobs comes to mind.
I don’t currently have the funds to boost an enchanter as none of the team currently have epic fliers; also working on boosting Blacksmithing/Jewelcrafting on my Tank.
Has anyone used a second melee with mixed casters? How did you deal with the whirlwind mobs? How did you deal with the movement effectively since you would have (3) separate movement groups?
Thanks

I run a Feral tank (that I drive with), a Melee DPS DK, and 2 elemental shaman, and a resto shaman. So I think I'm doing what you're asking about.
Whirlwind mobs are a non issue as I have a special keybind that sends the DK running after the resto shaman (who is always safely away from Whirlwinding mobs). My normal DPS rotations incorporate the DK running after his target, so it often works out to where we're all blowing up a mob, the mob whirlwinds, I hit the DK key, DK runs off to the healer and then returns.
I sitll move effectively because the DK is always following the tank, or running after the mob, which is also running after the tank, so I just drag the DK along with my tank, or if something is really going wrong, I'll send him to the healer / caster group.

What spec did you run with on the DK; mine is currently running Dual Weilding Tankards or Terror frost spec, however I have never run her with my team. Frost has a complex priority rotation that I am not sure I could come close to simulating via /click cast sequence.
Blood seems pretty straight forward...?

I'm also using a melee DPS {enhancement shaman} with mixed casters. I don't really run into many problems that chain heal can't fix. I try to keep my melee toons facing each other, since you generally want your melee DPS attacking a mob from behind, so I can usually just pull my tank and shaman apart. That is, my tank strafes left, my shammy strafes right, or they both back up in opposite directions. Follow breaks on melee combat, so the shammy will just stand there until I call her back in.

I run a rogue in with my paladin + shammy group once in a while. I have two buttons I use for whirlwind type encounters (/follow shamanone) and interact with target (for rogue only). I use the follow one to get rogue out of whirlwinds (shaman are far enough away that as soon as you press it there is no /follow lag, he instantly starts to run away) once ww is over, hit interact with target and your golden. That said melee are still a poor choice compared to casters for multiboxing dps. Just the nature of the game.

Somewhat related, if you have a warlock teleporting to a safe location and having your caster camp interact with / follow the warlock for safety is sort of useful. Might be able to do the same with huntard disengage.
Of course then you need to have the caster camp realign facing.
