Hi, i'm going to buy a gamepad and have checked around both on this site and others for reviews. It seems like the two best are The Belkin n52te and The Logitech G13. I have searched and read many posts on DB.com but still cannot decide.
I've never used one and have got some questions;
On the n52te is it enough buttons?
which is more comfy?
which is easier to use?
What do you find you use the buttons for/ are there enough (too many <G13>)?
Thanks

I've had both. Used an N52 for solo play for quite some time.
Recently bought a g13. Not absolutely certain that more buttons is actually better.
I find I cant reach all the buttons easily - even when my fingers are placed on the home keys
on the device. Although triggering stuff round about those keys was easy enough.

The best advice I could give - get your hands on one of each (preferably before buying and seeing which feels more comfortable to you).

I must actually get this setup for multiboxing.

thanks for the advice :)
Don't quite know how im gonna do that its more of a replacement birthday present for someone, think i'm just gonna go with the n52te and move up to the g13 if its not enough.
Thanks Shae
See ya around on veture co.

Yeah - haven't played the locks on venture co for a few days. Need to run them to SFK and boost them through a few times.
Forgot to mention I've got a level 70 pally on there Ashtara so add him to friends and I'll come and help out if need be.
(Not sure what level your pallies are though so you probably dont need my help).

I played on a N52 (original, not "te") for years. When the G13 came out, I bought it immediately.

Let's just say that would my G13 break down, I would not even bother taking the N52 back up from the basement, I would just refrain from playing until I have a new G13. it is that good.

More keys make a BIG difference to me. The thumb stick is great (I had my doubts about it before my purchase, just from seeing pictures). The keys themselves feel like high quality keyboard stuff (much better than the N52 that always felt rather cheap). The hand position is much more comfortable. Etc, etc...

Software is pretty similar in functionalities on both products (still talking about original N52 here, I don't know the N52te).

I find the LCD display useless, and the G1 key (top left one) is not the easiest to reach, but that not enough to really complain about anything.

My advice : go for the G13, it is a great product.

G13 is the way to go I have both and g13 is easyer to use all the keys and also the backlit lighting is great for knowing what key for what chars IE blue shamans, pick for paladins:)

The only issue I have with my G13 is I haven't found where I can change the backlight colour like it tells me I can on the box.

My current set up is the 41 button FANG and 15 button WoW mouse.

I find myself wanting for more buttons, however. In my pally + 4 shaman team, I don't have all of my totems available.

I bought N52te yesterday from sale for 29,50. After one night configuration and testing I say I love it.

Ergonomy is nearly perfect. Hand rests nicely on palm support and fingers rest on four basic buttons. A last button column for pinkie is positioned closer than other buttons. With small stretch I reach second and third rows. A thumb uses one large button on bottom and cross-pad plus smaller button above it.

About buttons: At first it seemed that buttons only dublicate buttons from keyboard. They can do it as well... However you can make a macro for each button. I made simple macros AltGr+Q, AltGr+W, AltGr+E and so on. Then I keybinded these combinations for most used commands and vĂ³ila, I have 15 extra buttons for macros in addition to existing 12 basic ones.

Ah, I almost forgot. I started to use cross pad to move main character back-forward and strafe. After one night that starts to feel semi-natural. ;-)

Macros recorded for N52te can also include delays... This would be against Blizzard rules, but a chance to get caught and banned is literally zero. Of course one can als keep hitting nuke-key until pad and wrist are broken... Nah, I won't do this. Just felt compelled to mention. ;-)

I have had all 3 the N52 N52te and the G13. Heck even had the G15..

But I LOVE my G13. I have little hands and on the N52's my Palm was on top of the rest instead of sitting where it should be. Pinky buttons I couldn't use.

G13 solved all the problems. It is larger and is just like a mini G15 keyboard with all the bangs. A display that will show ventrilo, gear stats clock, and of course you can't beat the color coding for the M Keys. The display even has a count down timer. (which would of been major for molten bore for respawns)

Its a great gaming pad with lot. It also has the onboard memory so if you take it with you your settings go with you!

Don't waste your money on the N52te. yes its good but you can get the G13 which is better all around!

I just bought the g13 today myself and a new lycosa razer keyboard. I was using the original g15 keyboard with the flip up display from the days of yore but the second time i spilled a whole glass of water on it was the last time I used it, sadly:(. I was so ticked i smashed the dam thing on the floor a few times to make me feel better about spilling water all over it and forcing myself to go out and get a new keyboard. I never used the macro funtions for the g-keys as I write my own macros in wow and just bind them to keys inside ctmod. The thing i loved about that keyboard was the 18 key layout which i mapped to be identical to my party portraits and I used it strictly for my healer to heal each char individually with each particular spell as needed. I went to the store and they had both the n52te and the g13. I heard mixed reviews of the new n52 and most people liked the older style. The G13 was basically the G15 without the keyboard and more buttons so I just bought that. I was considering the n52te but pricewise the G13 was $5 more at $79.99 and the n52te was $74.99. The guy that picked up one for $29.50 was that in euros or something?:D For as cheap as the belkin felt it was a no brainer for me. The only thing that sucks was now I had to buy another keyboard so I got a lycosa from razor. All in all my spilling of water costed me $179.98 after tax. Best Buy was sold out of the Naga mouse or I would have bought one of those too as I have heard it now can be maped to any key on your keyboard instead of just the numbers or numpad. Once I hook up everything I'll let everyone know how I like it. The G13 sure does look like it will work just fine. I can never have enough buttons!

I have a wolfclaw. It is similar to this pad. I really dont like it for WoW. My hands might be too small though. I bought a n52te a while after that and it really is that much better. But I'm one of the few so it seems that felt the thumbstick was natural to me. I have never used a G13 but after reading some of these comments I would like one.

My basic n52te setup:
[ctrl] [1] [2] [3] [4]
[alt]] [6] [7] [8] [9]
[shift]

8 keys + 8 x three modifiers = 32 buttons

This is without the extra keys next to the shift that I dont use modified. the scroll up, down and press, the button above the thumbstick and the button below the thumbstick.

After losing several keyboards etc... To spilled coffee or whatever- let's just say ANY liquid stays far away from my desk these days, lol. Brought in a sidetable and haven't lost anything in years.

As for keyboards I have a G15 and love it! It's come in handy so much in so many different situations- especially the macro record feature. It also can repeat a macro/keystroke forever with the repeater toggle.

I had a n52 but switched to a G13. I love it.

The presses just feel smoother on the G13. I went with the G13 when I saw it on sale on amazon for $50. That allows me to use a throw away $6 normal keyboard. I just tie they g13 keys to macros that are built inside wow to prevent any LUA violations.

The big thing I prefer in the G13 vs the n52 is the joystick on the G13, much easier to use, I use it for all movement of my toons, freeing up my fingers to hit buttons while still moving with my thumb. The n52 I found a lot hard to move with the thumb pad, it was much stiffer.
The extra buttons on the G13 are also really useful for switching between toons etc.

I've had lengthy talks with the GM's on the customer service forum about G15/G13 keyboard etc etc... Their functions do not violate the LUA in any way unless you use the macros while not at your keyboard. In other words running your macros to walk in continual circles in Tyr's hand pickpocketing lockboxes while you were gone. Not that I would ever do such a thing

The GM basically said to me as long as you're at your keyboard you're fine. They won't/don't ban a person without first confronting them. If nobody answers then they assume you're running a bot if you are still killing/moving etc...

Bottom line really is you can use your G13/G15 macros as you please as long as you aren't AFK.

I would think if you have a macro doing a specific job, e.g. casting heals, while you spam a dps button at the same time with the macro performing a logic which could not been done by a single keystroke, then you would be violating the Terms of use agreement, "one click = one action per character" , otherwise the G13 is really automating a process not normally doable by a single keystroke in the game.
