Mandatory Battle.net account conversion is coming. But on the plus side, you get a penguin pet.

EU FAQ (assuming info for US is forthcoming)
http://eu.battle.net/faq/index.html

Q: What happens if I don’t merge my World of Warcraft account with a Battle.net account?
A: After November 12, 2009, you won’t be able to log in to the game unless you merge your account with a Battle.net account. You will need to log in using your Battle.net account username (your email address) and password.

Q: How can I obtain the penguin pet?
A: Once you’ve successfully merged a World of Warcraft account with a Battle.net account, the penguin pet will be sent via in-game mail to all existing characters on the merged World of Warcraft account, along with all future characters on that World of Warcraft account. Players who merged previously will also receive the pet this way.

Q: Do I need to merge by a certain date in order to receive the penguin?
A: We plan to remove the ability to get the penguin pet at some point in the future, we haven’t determined exactly when just yet.

Q: If I create a new World of Warcraft account, will I receive the pet?
A: Only existing World of Warcraft accounts that merge with a Battle.net account are eligible to receive the penguin pet. If you create a new Battle.net account after November 11 and merge an existing World of Warcraft account with it you will still be able to receive the pet. However, please note that we plan to remove the ability to get the penguin pet at some point in the future.

I guess I'd better figure out how to merge everything into a battlenet thingy soon then...

Just merged - it was pretty easy

and it also sorted out a problem I've had for ages, on my sixth account I could never remember the answer to the secret question lol - not an issue anymore

I wanted to point out that you can only have 8 Wow accounts on a single BN account. So if you have more than 8 ( like me ) you will need to make more that one BN account. and its a pain in the ass to log two different BN accounts on at the same time 8(

My main team is all on one though, so i only have to deal with it when i log on alt accounts. I wish they did not have a small limit like that 8\

All your linked accounts received the Blizconn Pet if you had them linked when you entered its authorization code.

My questions weren't on the FAQ, but they were pretty multiboxer specific, so I guess I'll ask here.

Has blizzard talked about how Beta stuff works with Battlenet? Will we only get one chance at it or do we get as many shots at it as we have WoW accounts?

And minor issue, after you put in your username and password and you get to the point where you have to pick your sub account, what order do they put them in? Most recent used? Time created? Time merged into battlenet?

Not really big deals, but I'm just curious and would like to know before I go and do it.

If you use software that virtualizes your config.wtf files then you're all good. After you merge and login for the first time your sub-account names are saved in your config.wtf files. If you don't use virtualized [or separate] config.wtf files then you'll be manually selecting sub-account names each time you login.

Good question. I am thinking that it should work the same as before, or at least Blizzard would have to change it deliberately. Your WOW accounts are still separate from each other, they're just linked to a battle.net account. I got two beta invites for the tBC beta even though my email address was the same for both accounts, so I figure that they still differentiate between your accounts.

I haven't seen them say anything about it. I think they can see 1 battle.net account with 5 accounts just as easily as they can see 5 accounts with their own battle.net account just by looking at the name / address on the accounts.

AFAIK they are listed in the order in which you added them to your battle.net account. That is how they appear in everything I see when I have to select a sub account.

Mine are listed in reverese alpabetical order of my account name, i.e. Z T J D A.

The account I added last appears in the middle of my group. :(
