Hey help me name my five new toons.

They are a 5x Female Gnome Mage Team. I am not a big fan of like xxx1 xxx2 type things or something like You Just Got Owned ByMe.

I am just out of names and was trying to think of something cool without sounding to cheesy.

well for a start you're on the wrong side, now if you said name my 5 orcs well that'd be different. ;)
I like to make sentences out of their names, my shammies are called:

Younot
Gettinin
Withthose
Shoez

but since you don't like sentences.......

my mages/priest are named: Amaralia, Amberilia, Antioch, Aztrida

How about naming them using characters from your favourite book/movie etc? If I were to start another team I'd probably go with the names from Resovoir Dogs : Mr Blue, Mr White etc

or

Tinymage
Smallmage
Midgetmage
Minimage
Dotmage

I quite like scientific names. I always try to group the names with a common theme. My latest team of 5 human shaman i named after different types of bacterium:

Tetrad
Streptococci
Diplococci
Palisades
Saracina

Thinking about it now, naming them after different elements from the periodic table would have been quite good.

My multiclass team, I started naming them to a theme. I only got as far as
Esstie
Effieu

I got distracted and never did Jeeti and Effeau.
Effieu's name has been the most popular so far.

Oh yea other team names i have are imgreennwhat, imblacknwhat, imbluenwhat, and im whitenwhat after crayons lol. Then i got the carebear group the names of carebears obv., um and my druids names one after the wife "BROWNIE POINTS" and then chickenwangs, chickenfries, and chickngoboom. Mr boom is being cchanged to chickentoes, and my main druid is being changed to chickenstew from his old name. Hence food from chicken lol.

5 Unique names seems to get you under the radar, so to speak, it's less obvious.

I looked up some of my names, they're related to each toon's class, and are old irish names or names from Irish lore.

You could also look into Greek mythology, or Norse, or Indian, or any number of lore books.

I read somewhere, using band names and albums - the example was Guild Name: Pink Floyd, toon 1 Animals, toon 2 TheWall, Toon 3 DarkSide, Toon 4 Liberty Bell, etc...

I always thought it would be worth a laugh or two to have a guild called Baseball, and have Pitcher, Hitter, FirstBase, SecondBase, ThirdBase, Foul, Strike, Run, etc...

Or you could go: Shedidit, Nuhuh, ImTelling, Shutup, Stoptouchingme....guild name? Mom.

And for goodness' sake, remember to put them in alphabetical order for once. It'll make finding macros easier.
Also, food names FTW

What about something mythology related?

Odin, Tor (Thor), Freja, Heimdal, Loke
throw in ò's or ôs as well like:
Ódin, Thór, Fréja, Heímdal, Lóke

There are heaps to start with :) Greek, Egyptian etc.

Or pick something from another game.
I have for example always been a great fan of Anarchy Online so now I have 5 DK's named:
Ômnione, Atrôx, Ôpifex, Nanômage, Sôlitus

ah Gadzooks (http://www.dual-boxing.com/member.php?u=6161) beat me to the mythology, that is what happens when you pvp and write at the same time :)

Yeah I was thinking mythology like Thor or maybe do some less known lore like Native American gods or something. Thanks for the ideas.

I usually went with themes of some sort with my teams, since I mix and match them as needed for heroics and such; that way just by reading their names i can kind of get an idea of what their class is as otherwise i cant really remember 100% of the time. :p

for example:

team drud
spring, summer, wynter (winter taken already. ><), autumn (seasons, obviously)

team pallies
sara, tara, kara, lara

team mages
ali, alis, alish, alishandra (alishandra was my main from when i single boxed, so try to follow her name)

team dk
persephone, echo, nike, dido, medea (mythology)

team hunter
named after female characters on the show firefly (was getting tired of coming up with names at this point. kinda want to change this team's name) but i always get a laugh/cheer/tells from people for their 4 turtle pets following them (blue=leonardo, red = raphael, green=michelangelo, gray=donatello) wish there were orange or purple turtles in game to make it authentic. but oh well.

team warlock
no real themes, i got tired of naming at this point so just went with variations of aell, like aellis, aellie, aellia, etc

team shaman
mixed and matched names from old computer games i liked like zanthia from westwoo'd hand of fate

and no theme at all for the remaining classes.

someone made a post from wayyyyyyyyyyyyy back stating that the hardest part of setting up a team is coming up with names. i completely agree; especially when you are setting up multiple teams. -____-

I have five accounts, so I stick with the vowels. Not all, but most, of my characters folllow the rule of having the same name, but with one of the vowels being different on each char.

Arlassa
Arlessa
Arlissa
Arlossa
Arlussa

Risata
Riseta
Risita
Risota
Risuta

etc... I'm on an RP server, so the naming convention is a bit more rigid, but this seems to work.

Oh yeah I had this idea of doing a team named after drinks as well.
Mojito - Sazerac - Sidecar - Cosmopolitan - Longisland

or spirits:
Vódka - Gín - Rúm - Téquila - Cógnac

Depends on how you feel about attention. If I do another team of five, they will be dissimilar names. I like the theme idea, however. And I'd steer clear of alt+ characters. I hate mine and if it wasn't $10 a pop to change, they'd be different.

When I only had 3 warlocks, I named them a dirty joke. But no one has gotten it so far, or I've just not gotten in trouble yet.

The names are: Ruusty, SherrifBadge, WideOpen

Jheusse

If I was doing a team again on a non RP server I'd probably do Rico, Skipper, Kowalski, ThePrivate, and round it out with Julian or Phil or some such.

one of the best ideas i've ever seen was based on professions - if you're making 5 x tailors name them like Boss, Armani, Gucci then everything will have "Made by Boss". Same with the others.

I wonder if it makes people less or more suspicious, but I get way less commentary with my current group. I didn't want to think up anything clever and I didn't want to go with (Name, Nayme, Naime, Naeme) so I just used the random generator until I had names that weren't silly. People still stop and stare, but I get almost no comments. When I had a group that was the same names except for one letter, I think that made people more suspicious. I dunno.

I've tried a few different things

1. I didn't like all different names like Joe,Bob, Ralph, Alice.... it was just annoying to remember who was on what account, etc.

2. the only think worse was yarlii, yariil, yarili, yarill, yarlli ( I still have those but it's impossible to have the bank toon send to anyone specific ) I end up sending stuff to yarili and have to trade it later to the right person. I absolutely hate this teams naming convention. it might have been cool on a PVP server but I only PVE anyway.

I never have problem with pallishous, pallishousa, pallishousb, pallishousc, pallishousd
I always know A is a JC, B is a alchemy, C is skinner, d enchanter, etc.

Owltoid
06-22-2010, 03:23 PM
I always struggled naming my toons, with my greatest accomplishment being "Owltoid" for moonkins. I know, not the best, but it's one of the few names I've ever really liked.

Now I just name my guys The guy, Which guy, That guy, Other guy, This guy and just try to come up with come adjective that is four letters or less.

For gnomes I have: puny, tiny, tall
For dwarves I have: ugly, fat, thin
For the shamans I have: blue

For my currently retired DK + Pally team, I have 4 female dwarves: DrunkHelga, DrunkBertha, DrunkOlga, DrunkFrida, and one gnome DK named ChubChaser.

Malgor
06-22-2010, 04:36 PM
I went different while keeping the names the same. Everyone seems to change out a vowel, I just change out a consonant.

My mixed team: Rou, Tou, Pou, Gou, Xou (and I have reserved with level 1 toons: Zou, Bou, Sou, Dou, Vou).
My newest 5 shaman, 5 warlocks, 5 paladins sets are all after a character in a book who was Elfric. I put a consonant in front of that for 21 possible combinations: Belfric, Celfric, Delfric, etc (using Y too).
On my previous server I was: Malgor, Palgor, Dalgor, Ralgor, Salgor.

I just started a new 5x DK team for PvP and use:
Udderlycool
Udderlypimp
Udderlysweet
Udderlydead
Udderlybeef

Silly, but makes them easy to distinguish, yet hard for people to single out.

I like vowels. Five of them in the alphabet and wait a minute.... I'm 5boxing.

Last group is 4 locks and a priest until I got to Northrend and subbed in a pally for tanking.
