hi, i recently made a post about when i launch my 5 wow's with Hotkeynet (1 pc and 1 wow folder) it works fine but when i exit next time i do it all my macros have gone and all my key bindings jamba settings etc. i thought o foudnt ehs olution as someone said to tick "always run as administrator" in the wow.exe properties. I thought this had worked but i loaded them up today logged in and yet again no macros or key bindings and no jamba settings. Also along with this when i untick addons before i logon they are still on when i log in .... all of this is really frustrating me as everytime i logon i have to spend hours doing macros and settings -.- ... Please Help !

HotKeyNet doesn't modify any of your settings, so the loss of your Macros/Keybinds/ect. is being caused by something else.

OH YES!!!!!! THANKS PEOPLE :) Fyldren and khatovar you have been a great help thx so much 5*.

This is what you posted in the other thread. From your enthusiasm, I assume the problem went away for a while.

Is that correct? The problem went away for a while?

If so, something changed in your PC to make the problem come back.

What changed?

Yes I know a couple of things you can do.

The easiest thing is to ask yourself what changed between that day and today.

On that day, the problem was fixed. Today, the problem is back.

Problems come back because something changes.

Can you remember what changed?

Did you do something different? Did you reinstall HotkeyNet? Did you upgrade a program? Did you change the way you do something?

May be a dumb question but how do you logout of the game. Do you use the escape logout option, or do you X out of the different wow screens? When you make changes in the game, addons, new macros, and what not if you X out it will not save. If your clients crash it will not save. If you actually do the logout option or type /logout it will save your changes.

Sorry didn't get a chance to read your other thread yet so I gotta start somewhere lol.

(This post crossed Jubber's. That sounds like a likely explanation.)

All right then. Let's make sure HotkeyNet is really running as administrator.

Can you please reboot your computer.

Then go to the folder where you installed HotkeyNet and right click hotkeynet.exe.

Select "run as administrator."

(In other words, start HotkeyNet WITHOUT the shortcut.)

Launch your WoWs. Change some settings. Exit the WoWs.

Then restart the WoWs and see if the settings got saved.

Yeah that annoys me too lol. I hate it when I spend so much time making up new macros to try on an encounter then one of my clients crashes and I lose everything I just did. so now whenever I make changes I logout after so they are completely saved. All you have to do is logout to the character selection screen and that will make it permanent.

For the addon issue, it may be several things but the first thing i check is whether or not the check box is grey or yellow. check ot make sure at the top if it lists your player or addons for all. Sometimes for me, I have to switch it to a different player and then back to addons for all to make it stick.

It looks like the thing that annoyed you was WoW, not HotkeyNet. HotkeyNet had nothing to do with it.

(Thanks Jubber, I didn't know WoW does this.)

also in my hotkeynet script how would i type the key "/"

To see the name of that key -- or any key -- look in HotkeyNet's upper right panel while you press the key.

(The names of keys vary according to the user's language setting and the nationality of the user's keyboard.)

use symlinks for most folders but the WTF ones will help performance and will allow wow to save settings without overlap (though macros etc... are saved on server side now and in per account wtf sub dir so that shouldn't actually cause such problem) - please also rename your thread to a more appropriate title

The original thread I used for SymLinks is here: http://www.dual-boxing.com/showthread.php?t=4453. I personally could not get the script to work, but found (Page 5, Post 46 the Link Shell Extention program).

That was really easy to use... this is the site: http://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/hardlinkshellext.html to make my SymLinks.

I believe it is Symbolic Links in Vista and Junction Points in XP, but the site lets you know which version you need based on your operating system. I also needed to download something from the microsoft site for the program to work, there was a link at the bottom.
