View Full Version : Anyone tried DAoC?
I am wondering if anyone has tried Dual Boxing on DAOC the same way with WoW (By Dual Boxing, i am reffering to multiple accounts on ONE computer). DAOC = Dark Age of Camelot, for all those who dont know =P. I tried using and modifying some of the autohotkey scripts posted here, and its just not working and i dont know why.
I was talking to a friend of mine who has messed with it, and he said that i need to make sure that it dosnt use simply sendkeys or API send message, that it has to be inputted via a directX command. Now this was a whole lot of jibberish to me, but i dont know how much useable information this yields. Does AHK not use directX commands? is that even the issue? would keyclone work? (id really like to know before i spend 10 bucks on it). But if this can be done with AHK, id rather use it, (no offence keyclone, but im a student, so cash is never easy =P ).
I do know that DAoC is far more resistant to command manipulation that WoW is, So far this forum is entirely based on WoW, id really love some DAoC help if anyone knows.

hi Rav, and welcome to the forums
a student? yea.. i remember those days. no problem looking for the free solution... it'll just take you longer.
as for keyclone and daoc, i'm not sure about that... i have not tested it personally (it has been years since i had daoc installed on my machine). if you get any data on keyclone & daoc... please pass it on.
good luck

it doesnt work I tried it about 2 months ago seems to suffer the same trouble as EQ2 were the windows dont lock foreground. However even with innerspace I couldnt make it work.
By this I mean Keyclone
hrm, well i will continue looking for solutions for this problem, as only an amateur programmer, dont expect any amazing revelations, and btw, keyclone, did the directx command thing make any sence to you? im just wondering if that is somthing i need to worry about when attempting to find a solution, ty. ill be checking these boards often now =P this has become an interest in mine after playing about every MMO under the sun

my main issue with DAOC is that they have a program very similar to warden from wow to counter third party apps due to the mass proliferation of radar back in the day.
Im fairly sure innerspace in some form or fasion could probably get Keyclone to work for DAOC... however, innerspace running would probably flag as a negative third party app (considering there are plugins for bots with the app and other things similar to radar for DAOC) and get you banned.
Most of the people I know who 8 box in daoc use wireless keyboards or hardware options.

I miss DAoC... and the only way I've known of multiboxing was with the wireless reciever route.
I think we should all convince Mythic to scrap Warhammer and re-release DAoC....just with updated graphics and NO ToA.
So is the only way to get daoc working with keyclone to use innerspace? and pay even more money? sigh, id be willing to do the complicated scripting route, but atm im at a brick wall as far as getting AHK to work... anyone know another way to do this?!?!

I don't know of a nother way to do it, but the problem is locking the DAoC windows as active windows. From what I remember you can only send commands to an active window, and the only program I've heard of that locks the windows is innerspace, however I don't remember how well it works.
I'm sure this isnt a very viable option, but you could go the Team Wizzy route and go complete hardware. It would solve all of your current issues, just it's rather hard to justify. Well actually you could pick up a machine that would run DAoC for around $300. (unless they revamped the graphics yet again)

I could be wrong on several assumptions, but....
What is the issue with AHK? To script it, you basically tell it that when you push a certain key, it will translate that into XX keypress(es) on predetermined running programs. It works for any running window, and they don't have to be the same program.
You could run it on 5 Notepad windows, or 4 WoW windows + 1 Notepad Window, etc.
The Windows don't have to be active, but must be able to run in a Windowed Mode (Full screen apps which minimize completely when not active may not work as expected, I haven't tested this).
Good Luck

I dont recall if I tried it with innerspace... I have 12 rr5's on one account and was worried Id get the account banned.
Simple way to test it is to dowload some trial accounts.

i tried yesterday keyclone with daoc , and i m very surprised, it works and pass all keys when i click enter before , ( enter = /say in daoc) but doesnt work when i click button without click enter.... then we can braodcast /sat text lol^^
then daoc accepts keys even in inactive windows, i dont undestand how it can work with enter and doesnt accept keys witout press enter before.

I was never able to get keyclone to work reliably for DAOC either with 1 client on 2 pcs are 2 clients on 1 pc.
Freddies app worked well though.

It works fine if you hardware box (1 client per machine; confirmed works fine with Octopus as of about 2 months ago). Sadly, if you're only running one machine, the clientsleep functionality prevents passing active keystrokes to background windows.
I think we should all convince Mythic to scrap Warhammer and re-release DAoC....just with updated graphics and NO ToA.That pretty much sums up Warhammer.

I multiboxed Daoc for quite a few years. I used multiple machines though. Ran an 8 man crew. Think most of them are rr9 or so atm. Too bad its dying.
