View Full Version : Domino's instead of bartender 4
Just wanted to share this is one very nice actionbar replacement. I was using bartender, but that has been screwing around with my keybinds and general macro's soo much that yesterday I was so fed up that I took a some time to switch to domino's.
Played a little bit with it, and its still very versatile, and its a bit of less of a load for your machine compared to bartender. Not to mention I got rid of those annoying missing macro' bugs!

Yeah, I've been using Dominos for over a year now. The customization options are great, and if you are an anti-clutter guy like myself, its amazing!!!!
Whenever I reformat, get a new computer, whatever, the two add-ons I download first are Jamba and Dominos.

Just curious what kind of things you didn't like about Bar4. I've been using it for a long time now and i like it alot. Not sure how they are messing with your macros.
Last few days i was getting errors in one of the .lua files in bartender. This halted the loading of my general macro's and the reassigning of keybinds in bartender. Resulting that i missed a lot of macro's and had no keybinds what so ever. Also this resulted in my wow's crashing with general exceptions (god may know why, but dont have the problems anymore now).
I was using 4.4.1 (using that curse updater thing to always be up 2 date), tried downgrading to 4.4.0, but it was still buggy. They I remobed my addon folders, wtf folders and redid the complete ui (sigh, hate that) and now i was fine again :).
So basicly I like bt4, but it was just bugging too much with the latest releases and i didnt really see updates comming so i switched.

I've been sold on Domino's forever - I used it's predecessor as well. Simple, light, easy to assign keys, everything I want.
It also tends to make it through patch days with less drama than a lot of the other bar mods.

Yep. I moved to Dominoes when Bongos2 became unsupported a looooong time ago.
I like the fact that it doesn't try to be more than it is - a mod that lets you mess with your action bars :)

I agree with Los. Dominoes is superior to Bartender.

Where does Macaroon stands in that comparison, in your opinion?
I ask because it's the only one I know.

I been using Dominos for a long time! Love it always the one I download. Um Dominos is actually made by the maker of Macaroon as well, Macaroon was the next big thing for him, I think he did it cause it gave him more room to work with and all that.
i saw that the guy that kept up macaroon quit? (on ace forums somewhere i believe) so unless somebody picks that up ..

Macaroon hasn't been updated since May. I still use and love it, but will probably have to switch when a future patch breaks it :(.
It's sad, since I currently have the vast majority of my buttons as macros.

I think you mean it was made by the maker of Bongos which was Tuller. Macaroon is made by Maul who does have a history of leaving mods unsupported for a while then comes back out of nowhere. Out of them all I prefer macaroon but I wish Maul would update it more regularly.
It has a lot of similarities with the interface of setting up bongo's at least, oh well, it works fine :)

I stopped using bar mods a while back - I just use the default layout and have everything bound with bindpad - it never seems to break and is super easy to configure
Mbar addons dont break either, just update the toc file is enough untill the ppl that made the addon upgrade it to the newer versions, never had any issues like that.

I've been lookin at this addon with interest lately. What is the character limit on their macros?
Thank you

I used to use domino's. I switched to bartender because domino's was extremely slow when it came to updating come patch day. There's not much difference at all between the two imo. I haven't encountered a single bug yet while using bart4. How was it screwing up your keybinds?

I actually moved away from the standard action bars, because of the server side stuff.
I run different clients and use different interfaces for the same character. Keybindings are a hell to configure and LOSE because wow thinks it needs to reset them in between sessions .
all keybindings are stored on Macaroon. (I think I will be very sad if macaroon stops working ...)
I moved to Dominos long time ago. I like it's simplicity and the ease of setup.
