looks like they xp nerf was unintentional according to Zarhym, and they've now buffed the xp in all BG's

Q u o t e:
If you felt AV XP was too powerful compared to other Battlegrounds, maybe you should buff the others???
That's precisely what we've done with this new hotfix.
Q u o t e:
Please just say it: we were leveling too fast and having fun so you sent us back to grinding on boars to move up.
The experience gains in Alterac Valley were not adjusted in patch 3.2.2. The gains were percentage-based according to level brackets. Since the level brackets changed in 3.2.2, the experience gains decreased as a result. Because of this, we've added an across-the-board increase to experience gains in all Battlegrounds to compensate for the adverse affect on Alterac Valley that came as a result of the level bracket changes, as well as make gaining experience in our other Battlegrounds more viable.

Q u o t e:
What exactly was wrong with players leveling through PvP (if that is their fancy). Explain that.Absolutely nothing. That's why we implemented experience gains in Battlegrounds in the first place. The nerf to experience gains in Alterac Valley in 3.2.2 was not intentional. It was a side effect of the level bracket change. Again, we've applied a hotfix to substantially increase experience gains across the board for all Battlegrounds. Alterac Valley experience gains should now be better than they were immediately following the patch. Experience gains in all other Battlegrounds should now be better than they ever have been.
I was so relieved that I'll be able to skip some of those Northrend collection quests I had to make my first post, although I haven't tested it yet to see how much of a buff it is. Great site btw!

"Ummm, no... that wasn't intentional. (Bob, hurry up and buff everything, we're losing subscribers!) In fact, we meant to buff them even more!"
No such thing as bad PR. Blizzard proves to be the master of spin by pissing everyone off with a "mistake" and then being the hero by buffing things to make up for it. I'll give it a try in the morning, but right now I feel a bit jaded or maybe like a battered wife that should know better. Besides, my Aion characters are almost level 10.
Like I said, I'll see how I feel about it in the morning.

Seriously - did you just equate yourself to a battered wife because of blizzard buffing, nerfing then rebuffing XP gains in battlegrounds.
Sure hope that Aion doesn't continue this cycle of abuse by nerfing things. :)
Hopefully in the morning you'll have gained a bit of perpsective.

Yes, I did. I made the comparison because despite all indications that things will never change, I find some way to believe things will be different this time. Sorry if this comparison was a little too melodramatic for you, but I thought the sarcasm was noticeable.
As for perspective, whose perspective should I gain, since apparently mine doesn't count.

I suggested finding some perspective - not finding someone elses.
I didn't say you were wrong to be annoyed at blizzard - I just had a problem with your analogy.
When you mentioned battered wives I imagined people in abusive relationship, getting the crap knocked out of them on a regular basis, living in constant fear. Too scared to change things.
So it seemed completely out of kilter with your earlier statement of feeling " a bit jaded".
Quite a bit different from what you were trying for.
Knowing now what you were really trying to convey with your analogy I apologise.

It's all good. I can see how the battered wife thing can be taken out of context. I'm not in any real danger, and I didn't intend to belittle domestic violence. Codependent would have prolly been a better way to phrase it, but I tend toward the sarcastically melodramatic at times. I just feel stupid sometimes for getting so angry at a change that I am willing to stop playing only to come back so easily.
S'all good. I'll either find somethign fun to keep me playing, or I'll try other things till I do find something fun. Aion might not be the answer, but it's fresh and the timing was almost too perfect. There are a lot of wow expatriates over there citing this patch as the reason, but who knows how many will be back in a week or two. Optimally I'd like to get enjoyment out of both games.

I have been leveling a bit in AV and it makes a nice change. I don't have much experience with bgs though and was wondering, if I leveled from say 70-80 mostly in AV would there be good stuff I could buy with the tokens and honor once I was 80? I can't see much in the way of decent rewards. I prob haven't looked properly though.

Yes, but don't wait until 80 to buy them. Honor caps at 75k, so start purchasing Lvl 80 gear as you near the cap. Using my 80 DK, I guided four Ret Pallys through AV from 71 to 80 before the last patch. The Pallys hit 80 with Deadly Gloves and 2 or 3 Furious off-set pieces ready to equip.
i'll be sending my shaman team to AV but I'm not sure if I have to spec them all to resto because elemental might not hit any target. Did you guys respec to resto when you hit AV at 71?
shaeman
09-24-2009, 10:42 AM
I stayed elemental in AV from 71 to 80.
Until you hit the highest levels you wont be any use on Belinda/Galv or the end bosses so would suggest just healing the tank and others.
You can still take out players quite a few levels above you though so it's worth sticking elemental.
(plus it just gets better every little level you jump up).
alright I'll stay elemental thanks :)

I ran my mixed team through 72-80, bouncing out to quest a few of the nicer weapon upgrades at 75. We just usually hit Galv and did the best we could there; ran straight for Tower Point and held it.
Kept my Pally Prot but the rest of the team was DPS; at 79-80 I pretty much tanked Galv and Drek every time. Players I could take down so long as they were with in 6 or so levels of my characters, unless they were well equipped; I did run across a druid one AV that was sporting over 45k hp. He simply ran around my characters bouncing up and down around and over….LOL ever time my team would take down 1/3 or so of his HP he would pop into caster form heal up. He could have wiped the virtual floor with my girls…but I think he had more fun watching me frantically try to kill him…other horde showed up and…..
Glad to see they fixed the AV…I have plans to run a couple more teams after my RaF ends next month.

Ask any IT person - any real IT person, and they'll tell you: It don't matter if you F up one server, or a thousand servers....F'ing up is F'ing up.
But seriously, 20k/1.3PB is really not that much.

You said it man. I cannot tell you how many hundreds if not millions of dollars I have saved clients over the years with simple suggestions such as Ghost and UIU vs me building 1000s of machines using disks. Or having them use Vlingo so save time on BB text/emails and keeping them hands free to increase their production.
Yet they forget all of that if I mess up just one server even if it only affected 2 users out of 1000.

I think my biggest concerns are not being able to play with my 80s and the queue times.. not so much the reduced xp. It was really a way for me to bring up a couple extra toons I always wanted to, while actually not spending any additional time on the game (since I already ahd to honor grind on my shaman).
If the queue times ever get good, I don't think the reduced xp will be so bad, especially with heirlooms now working. Plus, you'll end up with more gear. I got to 80 pretty quick on my priest, but I'm finding that I will do that entire grind all over again (if not more) finishing up gear.

15 minute queue, 16k total xp, 300 honor, and 24k xp per hour. Couldn't even kill Galv. The match started 20 vs 40.
On the upside, it seems to only take 3 afk reports to flag someone, as I was able to boot an annoying person by flagging them when they died and they were gone before they could rez.

We get enough hate in the BGs as it is - there's no reason to generate any more - especially using a tool that could be easily used against us as you so quickly pointed out.

Had you taken the time to ask me why I did it you might have found out that I wanted to see if the rumors were true about people being able to abuse the AFK system because of the booting. Lol, I'm trying to avoid this conversation continuing, but as a multiboxer if your true intention was to see if the rumors were true, then luckily enough you have your own team you can test it on!
I'm sorry people are getting upset about being called out for a choice they made. I'm not taking the moral high ground here, I'm just calling an apple an apple. Now that I know you can do this, I'm sure there will be more than a few times I'll consider booting an annoying person, and I may even act on it. I ran AV last night on my 78 druid group (level 78, not 78 of them...). No heirloom items, got Galv and 3 towers down before we lost. Each objective was worth approx. 13k I believe. 13 and change, I think. I remember thinking it was almost 6k shy for each objective from what it was like last week before the initial nerf and resulting hotfix.
So overall for the 6 objectives in a match, you'll be down 36,000 exp for an all towers down win. Not terrible...
I pulled about 250k/hour for the time I was in there, reset the counter just prior to the gates opening. Not terrible, but not quite the same...and the last half of it was a total clown show with us pushing vainly against a wall of horde at FWGY and no one pushing through.
The upside: I was a friggen wrecking ball with the druids, lol...that was sweet.

On topic
I am getting 13680 with both heirlooms on a tower, so it less than pre patch.
This is interesting, as that's the amount I'm getting with no heirlooms...bet they screwed it up again and heirlooms don't work anymore...

What level are you?
LvL 77
I was getting 18-19k for Bal and towers pre patch. Honor for sure is less.
Bal- 12336
14803- both heirlooms
Honor: 89
Towers- 12336 each
14803- Both heirlooms
Towers: 89 each
Wingmaster: 4112
4934 both heirlooms
Win 16450 160 honor
19740- with the 20% I am guessing I didnt have heirlooms on when we won.
Winning with towers still up
each tower 8224
adding 20% 9868 again guessing since I didnt have heirlooms on
All in all still pretty good. honor seems low though, not sure.

What about leveling up in WSG and AB before you hit lvl 60 or 70? I'm wanting to grind these before these level ranges and with my teams that haven't even made it out of their 20s yet. How's the xp gain for these now? Unable to box where I'm at now cause of crappy net connections, so I'll give it a go when I get back home Sunday night.

WSG is no good if you dont cap any flags and lose. You get nothing. At least in AV most, if not all, games you can get one tower down or the miniboss. At least WSG ends in 20 mins, run an xp/hr meter and let us know!

I've had better luck in AB that WSG. Atleast in AB, if my main or slaves die, I don't have that far to run to get them back from the graveyards.

That's certainly a valid point, lol. If AV was back to pre-nerf with 2 heirlooms then I would consider using it again, however I dont think I can stomach anymore AV. It's like barrens chat with a PvP element. Makes you want to gouge your eyes out.

Level 78, unsure of exact numbers but it was 13,000 something each for Galv and the towers...no idea on honor amounts though, that's secondary to me ;)
