You may have noticed a few of us are sporting badges under our avatars of Innerspace and / or Keyclone.
If you would like to get these to show up on your posts / profile to show off what software you're using follow these instructions:
Go to edit your profile details: http://www.dual-boxing.com/profile.php?do=editprofile
For keyclone:
Add the email you purchased KeyClone with in the "Keyclone Email" Scroll down and click the Save Changes Button
For Innerspace/ISBoxer: (Blatantly stolen from Zanthor: http://www.dual-boxing.com/showthread.php?t=24516)
If you look to the left I have a spiffy http://dual-boxing.com/images/IS-logo.gif banner on all my posts, if you want one too just follow these simple directions...
First, go to http://www.lavishsoft.com/account/index.php and get your Lavish Software affiliate site key...
http://www.dual-boxing.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=46&stc=1&d=1252681175
Next at the top of dual-boxing.com's forums click on "User CP" and then on the left "Edit Your Details"
All the way down to the bottom... you will see:
http://www.dual-boxing.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=47&stc=1&d=1252681184
Paste your key into there and save the changes.
You *must* set your LavishSoft Affiliate Site Key in your profile AND change the field directly below (LavishChecked) to "yes" (No quotes) for it to be checked. Script runs nightly.
The next day (or after some magic happens on the server side) you will be sporting a spiffy new http://dual-boxing.com/images/IS-logo.gif badge.
The updates happen overnight. So the updates are not instant. The scripts run between 2am - 3am.

Hmm how do I get a HKN badge (without having freddie needing to pay anything)
ps: frankly those icon are ugly - look like it's done by some engineer and not a graphic person

The people behind IS and Keyclone have not paid for this. This was purely my own idea to give users a way to show what they're using. It's actually verifying legit accounts, and with free software, there really isn't any significance since anyone could just go say they use it, whereas with KC or IS, if you're not a valid user, the badges will not show up. If any developer wants to participate in this, drop me a PM.

I'm just gonna go with the assumption people without badges use HKN...and of course Fursphere is the hardware boxer :D
Free without a phone home feature to get a badge works nicely for me ;)

but Fur if you can't verify it...it doesn't exist, I guess this holds true for badges as well :(

Maybe badges for each MMO you multibox too. Also what CPU brand (amd/intel) badges, and periphal badges (logitech, saitek), number of monitors badge, whether or not your WoW folders are symlinked badge....

It's not that we are asking for ridiculous things, HKN and hardware boxing are also major players in the multiboxing scheme of things and should get a little love as well. Seems a tad unfair to throw around free advertising and give a false impression to new users that there are only 2 pieces of software used to multibox.
I understand keyclone as there is a link at the top and I believe he helps mitigate the costs of keeping this site alive. But IS is a completely separate entity and is now gaining the benefits of misleading newer people.

It's my care cup, and it's empty.

How are we misleading people? The badge is representation of absolutely nothing other than a VALID license. The badges are hardly showing themselves as the *only multiboxing* options. I don't think brand new people that come here looking for information are going to look at someone's post, see a KeyClone badge and suddenly "Oh wow, KeyClone, I MUST buy that since OBVIOUSLY that is the only thing since there is not a badge on this user for any other product." I think you're basis on this is not valid for a new user.
I get asked *constantly* what I use. The badges are a method for people to easily recognize what I'm using and give users a sense of what kind of issues I could help them with. As in, I can answer KeyClone and IS questions, but I'm probably not going to be too hot on HKN.
If people want to cry about every little thing, please go back to the wow forums where you'll be much more at home.
Once more, for the record, and for the cheap seats...
This was *my* idea. I went to Lax and asked him if any sites were using it, and if he planned to leave his end of the functionality in place. He said his end was no issue so I developed what was needed on the dual-boxing.com side. I talked to Rob about doing some kind of similar method to allow me to verify users. A couple days later Rob sent me a method to validate KeyClone users. A month later (due to my own work issues getting in the way) I finished up what we needed on this end for KeyClone support. If you look at my OP, Zanthor beat me to the punch announcing it for IS. I didn't want to say anything until I had support for KC as well. But oh well, it's fine. This is not paid advertising, Rob and Lax are not slipping me $50's under the table for this. Ellay's seen what I was doing, and he thought it was a pretty cool idea.
So back off the conspiracy theories and the QQ. There is no place here for that crap. In Zanthor's post, and my OP here, I extended the invitation for any developer that wants to support this. My only conditions are that the badge actually represent something (IE Valid License), Limit to 2 badges per person, and give me a method to verify forum users -> their software users.

to support the free apps, the free app devs (ie: freddie) could make a registration page on their site registering an email address. then the d-b member that cares would just select the supported app from a pull down list (or another sub panel), type in their email address on the CP and hit 'verify'.. which would do some voodoo on the back end to confirm the badge.
just thinking off the top of my head

I would want it to.... *mean* something. I mean. The keyclone badge means you've paid $20 for a license. The IS badge means you're subscription is current. If the free software devs could show a method of activity, as in, last active X days ago, I think that would mean something.

****retracted statement****
we've moved back to the intelligent discussion I come to this site for. Thanks Rob.
I don't think it should simply mean you paid for something, but I do like the idea of recent activity tracking. That seems to be a nice comprimise for the free software guys and also informs new users as to how current you may be on the software they have questions about.

Necroing this thread because I just fixed the automated script that handles Innerspace Subscriptions.
The new method to get the badge to display : You *must* set your LavishSoft Affiliate Site Key in your profile AND change the field directly below (LavishChecked) to "yes" (No quotes) for it to be checked. Script runs nightly.

Seriously, I always thought those meant those that had them were the devs of the software. This is a cool feature tho and have followed the masses :D
