3.2.2 Makes an 80 Only AV

So much for playing with my 70s at the same time. And apparently they nerfed XP too, but I've yet to confirm it.

Yeah. XP is nerfed. I see these two changes as really dampening the attendance to AV for sub 80's.

This is really going to hurt us boxers who have a higher-level leader toon also.

My DK is 80, so I'm happy that I got to drag my 4 Ret Pallys through AV starting at 71. They hit 80 a couple weeks ago, so they are fine.

But then I have my Mage team. 80 leader and four 63 mages to boost. This change now kills getting the band together in AV at 71. And there's also my Priest team starting up soon; 70 leader and four 60s.

Even worse, I've read that when they capped the AV at 79 they left the mobs at their current level. So both sides are just getting clobbered by the bosses.

Yup, my queue was three times as long, and the match lasted about as long as a turtle. I got 500 honor. Estimated at 9 hours to level to 77. Of course there were still cave AFKers.

Same for me, I can't bring my 80 shammy to run with my 76s.

I give it a week before AV is dead in this bracket like everyother BG. The bosses are still the same as 80 bosses, but our tanks can't get level 80 gear. Without the XP, only AFKers will queue and waiting 15 minutes for a match that gets me < 100k xp per hour isn't going to be appealing for many people. Also, only being able to queue for two BGs means lots of downtime. I expect that this will lower 80s bracket attendance as well since there will be less honor from lowbie kills and people only need so much honor to get gear.

Shame too, as I was really having fun with AV. It was making the grind of leveling bearable to the point where I was going to level up some alts. Just had to get them to 71 and then it was fun.

Oh well. I'll see how it plays out, but so far I'm less than happy with this. Not even in the patch notes ;) The only people who benefit from this are AFK.

Edit: Hopefully this wont kill the AV brackets, now with the full amount of people needed to start the game and the nerf xp I could see this change killing off AV in the lower brackets altogether after this new novelty wears off.

Same here. My alts hits 71 last night and about ready to cut the AV ribbons and this happens. Oh well back to the drawing board :(

Well.. think about how wrong this entire idea was in the first place.

Guildie of mine leveled from 71-80 with his whole Shaman team. When he dinged 80, he had three pieces of deadly gladitor gear already pre toon.

WTF, over? You can't run heroics or lvl 80 raids before you hit 80, why the hell should you be allowed to farm equal/better gear AND have a superior way of leveling at the same time?

Another failed PvP system by Blizzard.

Just be happy you get XP at all IMO.


As much as I did like farming some AVs, (I only got 1 level out of the whole deal) I'd have to agree. Sure it was cool, but it was a bit OP as far as leveling goes. Go quest. it won't kill you, I promise.

It was fun while it lasted... It was a bit crazy... I mean no other way i can think of to get 3 pieces of ilvl 213 gear before you hit 80... I had it in my bags and equipped it right away, replacing my mid 60s blues and greens... I still plan on leveling my druids in there. The BoA gear is awesome for BG leveling, as with a lack of quest rewards, its your only way of gear upgrades on a consistent basis.

I'm sad to see it go however. I need to find that macro to mark afk on all 5 at once, boot out the losers faster. That has been and always will be the best way to make AV better. Ridding the system of the leechers will make it better for everyone (except leechers of course, but they can DIAF) I like the idea of "inactive" persisting through multiple BGs, Why should we have to keep reporting the same people over and over?

Not sure if there is a command line for it, but there is an API that takes a unit-id. Could do it with a target most likely. If I work something out I'll let you know.

I know it was a bit crazy before, but doing this without even a patch note is harsh. Whether it is right or wrong is irrelevant. I had plans I was happy about and this prevents them. This upsets me and I don't like playing games that upset me. Am I going to quit over this? Not likely, but that copy of Aion that wouldn't have gotten opened till the weekend is already installed and I'm wondering why I'm grinding on wow when I could be doing new quests in a new game that I had fun on in beta. Meh. Blizzard SOP: kill a bug with dynamite.

I am with ya on that. It was pretty crappy thing for bliz to do. I would be ok with the change if the queues for AV were the same, but shit they are already long and will only get longer it seems. I love the Inactive thing now, I can get people out of the BGs so much easier. I think it has the chance to be abused.

While it sucks that those of you with level 80 mains cant level up / pvp with your group... What a bummer as a level 80 character trying to actually win the match when a group of lowbie guys show up. The power difference between 79 and 80 is potentially huge. Im glad 80s got their own.
