Faction transfer landed and I moved my Druid and my son's pally over to the horde.
Saturday morning my son and I decided to try our first heroic. I figured Utgarde Keep would be a good start as I think it's the easiest instance This was very much a spur of the moment thing and I haven't even run any normal northrend instances on this team.
I was controlling the tank and dps, my son was controlling the healer (he has very little experience of healing with the pally).
I hadn't setup my tank to run with the group - about the only thing i did was unbind my 1-= keys.
Gear wise, he's okay for heroics with about 27k stam in bear form.
The pally has decent healing gear mainly from raid drops nobody wanted and the odd badge item.
My shaman are all fresh 80's, 3 pieces of pvp epics the rest is greener than something very green indeed.
Just under 1k spell power completely unbuffed. (I.e without flametongue and totem of wrath).
Additionally they were all PVP specced (can't afford dual spec on them right now).
I went in there with low expectations, but all things considered it went better than I thought.
There were a few wipes early on, mostly due to stupid mistakes - like forgetting to take my shammies off follow as I ran in, and failing to notice that they weren't all able to cast (I'm rusty) or when I wiped on Prince Keleseth asI hit one of my F keys to refresh the shamans water shield, forgetting that I hadn't unbound those keys on my druid so he popped out of bear form to heal. A tank in cow form doesn't last long :)
I did manage to kill 2 out of the 3 bosses.
However Ingvar was my downfall. One shaman died early on, and considering how poor my dps is that was bad news.
It took all of my shamans remaining mana to down phase 1.
Tried to run for it - but found out that the bit where you normally jump down into water to leave the instance has a gate over it if you haven't killed the boss.
Only had time for one attempt - but I'm sure with some tweaking I can down him.
