Having a little trouble with the boss this year. Didn't box it last year, just shuffled my team through for summons. I got him down the first time with no problems, but I've wiped since. Not sure what is getting me. First it was kegging, but I've put a use statement in my macros to drink the beers. It might just be low dps since 3 of the shammies are 75. I did the get the stam trinket off the first kill though, so that was good for my druid at least.

I've heard the minimum level to get the quest to start the fight is 75, can anyone confirm this? Trying to figure out how many tries I can manage, but I'd basically be 4 manning it then ;(

Okay, now I'm 2 for 5. I've got both of the stam trinkets for my bear tank, so thats nice. The two successful kills I had the shammies spread out and had elementals up, fire first and earth last. I think they kept the adds off the shammies. As for getting kegged, I did get kegged on the last fight, but he was at 1% anyway.

Now to try and burn him down with 5 DKs ;) I might have to wait 10 minutes between for armies, but if it works, I'll be happy.

When you zone in there will be some mobs to your right, kill them and use the mole machine to go to the Grim Guzzler. From where you areive, there is a quest giver just outside the room and to the left. He gives you a quest to insult Corin, and after that the fight is on. You can do this quest once per day per character.

Ahune handed me my arse, but this one is easy .

- Just park your toons at the short wall right of Coren with their back to the wall. (next to opening to the bar)
- Lay down DnD with DK
- talk to Coren with your alt and get the hell out of there

- let tank pick up agro
- DPS the shit out of him, forget about the adds.
- AoE Healspam, Prayer of Healing and Circle of Healing (macros see priest macro)

Done.

No mounts or remotes so far, but ...brew Trinkets which have 150 Stam :) Great for my tank

Question regarding the trinkets that drop. I know they have the same effective stats as the heroism trinkets, but do they stack? I'm going to guess no since they are similar even to the point of naming (sundial/pocketwatch both for telling time. speckled/mortal egg), but i'm hoping against hope that at least the dps caster trinket stack because i'm sick and tired of trying to farm regular ToC for the abyssal runes for my teams. can anyone confirm for sure that the pocketwatch does not stack with the sundial?

also for anyone that is having trouble with the fight. no need to get too fancy as it's pretty much just a tank and spank. with even a medium geared pally tank (def capped, 35k or so hp. mix of heroic ToC and conquest emblem gear. no gear over iLevel 226) the fight is very easy.

ae agro, then focus fire down coren. with just one shammy totem healing and the rest of the team dpsing. i never had to heal my pally tank for the entire fight and she never went below 60% health. i didnt even fully buff up, no trinkets or heroism used. no pets summoned. all 5 fights was over in less than 10 minutes.

good luck to those farming the mounts :) have only used about half of my available 35 tries today before i got bored and not one mount . not sure if i'm just unlucky or if it's a rare-ish drop. wish you all better luck than me :D

I haven't gotten the one that is the copy of the mirror yet on the character that has the mirror, but on my DK the buff was called Reflection of Torment... *shrug*. When it drops for my druid I'll let you know.

Fight isn't quite so easy for me, but then again my druid tank is sitting at 31k after getting both of the stam trinkets and the DKs are around 17k. Add in that three of the shaman are only level 75 and I need to rely on pets to help with the adds.

Just heal through and make sure you taunt the adds off the shammies, my shammies barely get scratched by the fight - and they aren't that well geared.

Nothing you can really do to avoid the drills. They pop up under everyone but the tank, I believe. The main thing is getting the adds that come out of the drills off the shammies. You can either taunt them with your tank, or let and elemental soak them up. Main thing is to keep dps on Coren all the time, and be sure to drink any beers that get thrown your way, or you'll get stunned. I just put the following at the end of my dps macro:

Also, spread the shammies out so that a drill only hits one at a time. Oh, and have your tank get out of the way when Coren does his Disarm move, otherwise the tank gets a stun and huge hit.

Trinkets do not stack sorry. They have same proc names. You can equip both but you will only refresh the proc if they proc within each other.

I hit 80 on my 5 shammies in AV last night, then took all 13 of my 80s down there. I must have gotten like 5 of one of the stam trinkets, one dagger (that none of my team can use lol, no caster weapons? srsly?) a couple of the dps trinkets and a healing trinket. I put one of the stam trinkets on one of my shaman hehe. can never go wrong with 170 stam i guess... Ill be farming it every day.... trinkets were always one of the things all of my toons lacked. I love how they stack with their badge equivalents.

I've been doing Direbrew with my 5 druids in pve mode (bear tank now, 4 raid-spec'd boomkins). He's easy. Goes down like a punk. I'm 3 out of 3. I'm posting this while waiting for my CD's to be up.

The best is to get a ram exhausted while the other 4 are at a gallop. They sit there orbitting you insanely fast. I glanced over at one of their screens and got vertigo ;)

I got my collective butt handed to me this morning when I tried it. My pally went down FAST, and the team went just as fast. I could'nt even tell what hit me, it was literally like 3 hits to the pally and it was all over.

I'd swap the druid in to tank, but she has no tank gear yet. *sigh*

I can't go near the actual Brewfest, because my framerate goes down to nil, and characters start dc-ing. It's worse than Dalaran, if that's possible. Everyone on the server is outside of IF or in BRD.

I was gonna just pug it, but the games have started, I saw people demanding Tier 9 for their groups. LOL. So many tools in the game.

I'm gonna try it again, but damn, so far, so fail, for me (the event is cool, I'm just having a lousy day with it)

Extremely easy fight for my Pally + 4x Shaman team, all badge and heroic gear. I completely ignored the brew and adds and just straight dpsed the boss.

Got the remote first try, 170 stam trinket, 2x dodge trinkets, spellpower dps trinket, healing trinket and the ram mount on my last try.

2 more weeks to go! :D

You pick up the quest in the Grim Guzzler, just go in the instance, turn right, kill the 3 dwarves there, and open the boxes on the ground, they'll port you right to the bar, in front of him, then just head for the yellow ?.

I downed him easily on 6 of my 80s. Something interesting, wowhead shows the daily quest has a level requirement of 65. So you can bring in lowbies to use their dailies possibly, I haven't tried it. No mounts for me, 2 stam trinkets, 3 melee, and 1 caster so far.

I believe the 65 on wowhead was from last year, it seems to be 75 now.

You misunderstood me. I was told in game that the first day you could kill him twice per character. You got the quest at IF and then killed him. Then you took blue quest from guy inside BRD and got to kill him again. At least thats what I was told.

Hmm. I think they are thinking of the Headless Horseman. I picked up the quest, which is Save Brewfest in Khrararaananos or whatever, and you just turn it in to the spy, who then gives you the daily. If you don't have the breadcrumb, he still gives you the daily. In fact, I think my shammies couldn't get the breadcrumb since they did it last year, but I might be confused.

i have to say, direwbrew was weak as hell this year. i was kinda disappointed. however, i got my kodo on the 2nd kill. was pretty stoked about that. gonna go back a few more times and try to score the sta trinkets.

The rest of my guys have been moved to a single account. So I have 10 level 80s on one account, and my DK on another. A guildie has come along to give me a hand, a DPS warrior that makes the whole thing go even smoother. So, I log in an alt summon, kill. Rinse repeat. I'll post back when I have some more stats on the drops later today. Just wanted to chime in, he IS possible to solo.

Looks like people are having some success with this. I just wanted to add in my two cents.

My five shaman team was able to take him down yesterday with only two deaths. I popped earth elementals, and had one of the five shamans with a chain heal earth elemental macro in place of my lightning macro, so 4/5 were DPSing with lightning, all 5 would do flame shock/lava burst.

On top of that, I added in the /use beer line into the DPS macro to help with the stunning.

I basically just focused on Coren, and he went down relatively easily, though two shamans did die. My main died pretty close to the beginning, which really only meant I had 3 attacking the majority of the fight.

With the two deaths, and loss of the two earth elementals respectively, I still had 2 earth elementals alive at the end of the fight. So maybe this could be done with less than 5 Earth Elementals, meaning you don't have to wait the 20 minutes between fights.

I didn't use any cooldowns, heroism, or anything like that, either, just to see if I could do it.

yeah, he's stupidly easy, the first time I killed him it was just me and 1 dps, the rest of the group died pretty quick cause i didn't pick him up fast enough. So park your tank next to him, and run whoever is doing the quest around then swap to the tank and they'll already be beating on him instead of your group.

i ran 30 times last night (25 lv80s, and 5 lv79), none of those beasts dropped. Doesn't like a good drop rate to me at all. Gonna to do 30 more times tonite. Good news is that the boss is too easy to beat, and for a geared pally, you don't even need any additional healing. I started with my top team (some T8s) first, and didn't even notice we killed the boss...I was wondering where the boss was until i loot the epic item from his dead body. lol :p

It was really easy. My son was on his holy pally and just picked up the adds while the tank and dps blew the boss away.
Will go back again till all the shamans have the caster trinket and my son has a tanking trinket for his pally.

I condensed my guys to a second account recently, so today I reset him 10 times using my secondary account. Then ran it with other officers of my guild (same group of people I did it with last year) on the 15th summon, we got the following:

pretty sure they killed 10 manning anything but lvl 20 instances and below a long time ago. It helps if you have a warlock, just summon away. otherwise, u gotta hoof it.

Yes, if you fail he despawns. I found out when trying to solo him once with my DK when I got distracted.

Also, as for the statement about hoofing it. You can summon people using the stone in the middle of the mountain. But, yeah what I did was just run all 10 of my guys to the entrance of BRD. I did this last week in anticipation of the event. Then just zone in, kill the dwarves on the right, then click the controls. This will take you directly to Coren's room. So it's not really difficult.

Well, I'm happy. I got a remote on my DK group, so now both groups can avoid the ganking and get the "Pumped Up" buff from the band. Not seen a mount yet, but the second mole machine gets rid of any excuses to not kill him daily.

I tried it again, got roflstomped several times. My guys are just not geared enough, and I haven't been tanking/healing long enough. It's cool, I just forget you guys are farming heroics, and I just started normal instances. :)

I've got plenty to do, grinding rep and finishing off questing for gold. I'm blazing through the Icecrown group quests, it's a blast. :)

Well, aside from getting daily restarts off by one hour and losing 5 tries, I ended up pretty well off. Had one drop with a trinket and both mounts. Got another Kodo, remote, and the BoE mace. Had one almost kill where he had 3k health left, but they chain kegged my druid till I died; grr! The DKs still have a the best clear percentage, but the shammies are getting better as the lowbies are leveling.

Of course in standard Blizard tradition, they released the new Onyxia today, thus making new content compete with limited time holiday content, oh yay! I though I'd have some more time to kill her on my teams for bags and just to do it before she was buffed, but I guess not.

Also, I tried trading the mounts around, but none of the other characters got the achievement. I might have boggled it somehow, I was tired and the 10 minute downtime between Army of the Dead is boring.

I do some healing, but it's mainly because I let toons get hit by the mole machines and I don't always pick up adds right away. I'd rather drop him fast and heal through the really low DPS the adds do. Even then gnawing on my healers face he can heal through 2 of them eating away at him + group with no problem.

I've run this 3 times now with the 5 shamans and had a 5/5 successs (as far as kills each time).

For the first two summons I have 5 earth elementals up -- they last long enough for 2 summons.
Then for the 3rd I use 5 fire elementals
Then I wait for the CD on earth Elementals and do the last two with those agian.

I got the kodo last year on my main shaman but so far this year its only dropped the lame ram.

ok 4 rets cant do this... he crushes for 7k a hit and there is just too much other damage coming in to keep up in healing and do dps. I was trying to get my rogue some stuff, but guess he will only get 4 tries a day with the shaman =)

It's funny, I'm sorta in the same boat. My teams were just barely getting by on Coren, and then the shammies went from 75 to 76, and now I was able to get 6 clean kills on him. Tomorrow I'll be doing both the shammy group and the DK group, so I should get 11 attempts. This is assuming I'm not playing Aion. Wow has sort pissed me off with the whole AV thing and I'm not sure I want to spend time leveling those 3 shammies the old way if they can kill Coren at 76.

Finally got some mounts the other day. 2 Kodos and 1 Ram so far. Also have looted 4 of those maces (jeez I wish I hadn't bought one). Im going to hang onto those maces until just after Hallows End is over and if Hallow's End doesnt drop another sick dps weap I think the AH supply of them should be exhausted and I can get good prices selling them.

I finally got a Kodo after 4 days of 10+ summons a day. After my first night of a rather ugly win with my five shaman teams, I knew there was no way I'd be able to do it alone on my warlock team, so I brought in a guildy tank and healer, and we've burned through 10+ summons a day.

Most of my shamans have all of the trinkets, I've received the tankard club and even the broken bottle, which is a hilarious RP item, if you're into that sort of thing.

The tank I brought along has received both mounts, and the healer I've brought along has received the Ram. So next Ram drop, and I'm all set. We'll continue to run it 10+ times a night to get both mounts on all three of us, as well as let other guildies join in to hopefully get some mount drops from my summons, since we're a carebear guild that's into sharing and all that lovey-dovey stuff. haha :D

3 consistent days of farming with 30 tries per day, I've only managed to get 1 kodo, and 4 rams. The drop rate for mount is kind of low to me. However, I've got like 6 of those BOE mugs, at least, I am looking at 10k gold after a few months.

I took my 68 rogue in here to loot the dagger and trinkets, worked out fine. 4 shaman took him down no problems.

Do it easy with 3-4 shamans and other random chars filling in other spots, got it done on my lvl 58 alts rotating them one by one with 4 shamans.
2 earth ele's are enough to tank him enough for a kill or two for me.

have finally gotten coren down on my group :p

i first tried this when my druid was 77 and my shaman were 76, utter fail..

i went in solo on my druid at 78 with abit more gear, mostly the pvp blue leatherworking gear, and had no problems tanking the boss.

Now with my shaman at 78 ones 77 still, and my druid at 79 managed to finally kill coren.

First try today got me the magic dps trinket
Second try, wiped
Third try, Ram and dodge Trinket
Forth Try near wipe 2 shaman left was pretty much pure luck they kept the dps up, and i got the mace and heal trinket
Fifth Try dodge trinket

fingers crossed for the Kodo before the end of the week and i should ding 80 soon :D

Today I did it with the help of one other person a healer. So my DK and 3 Shammies and the pug healer. It worked pretty well. I felt like it was a major accomplishment

I finally got both my mounts. I've been doing 10+ summons a day, closer to 13, with help from a guildy tank and healer. They have had both the mounts for a few days now, but the dumb ram was being very elusive.

I'm glad to be finished with it, though, and keep it up, everyone else! You still have a good 5 days of farming. I've gotten everything I want for it, so I think I'm going to use my toons to summon up an extra 10 figths a day for other guildies, to help give them a chance at getting stuff. It's really nice outfitting some of our melee players with some of the drops, since we're not really a raiding guild, and most of our upgrades tend to come from the AH, Heroics, or badge buying.

I am not getting very lucky either. I get 20 tries each night for 6 nights. Missed a couple nights cuz it was my daughter's first birthday on 9/30 so we have had a hectic week preparing for it. So out of 120 tries I only got 3 ram 2 remotes 9 tankards, 6 shankers and a slew of trinkets.

It sucks that we can't sell the trinkets or DE them. I hate seeing stuff go to waste. It didn't even need to be alot. Just a couple silver or gold would be better than nothing at all.

He is really easy. As long as you have a somewhat geared tank and you make sure to grab adds the encounter is really trivial. Just make sure your tank is always getting heals if he isn't geared. Worth a try. Also if your tank gets kegged make sure you have a way to remove it ASAP otherwise Coren will 1 shot your guys below lvl 80.
