Now that they hit 80 and I am gearing up my group I haven't found, just like leveling, gear for my moonkin. While leveling he wore mostly cloth gear. Currently I'm farming mats for ebonweave gear for my lock and mage. I'm thinking I'll put my druid in more cloth.

How have other people handled gearing their Moonies?

Pvp gear initially, go farm honour. Once you have done this, you should be able to run heroics quite happily and use emblems for PvE gear.

Ah, didn't even think about that option. Since I don't pvp at all so I don't know, does pvp gear have hit rating?
I stink at pvp but if that's the best option I'll see.
Would pve cloth be horrible? How do you pvpers best farm honor?
big time pvp noob so forgive the question. Don't worry I won't ask how to kill stuff.

Some gear has hit rating, go look on wowhead for deadly gladiator and check the leather options. I would suggest putting together an arena team so you can lose 10 games a week and get some arena points. That way when you go to buy stuff from the pvp vendors you can get stuff cheaper (there's a pvp vendor under dalaran that sells deadly for honor + arena points). Much cheaper than buy from honor alone (which I did, god did I farm AV forever.)
Also do WG when its up, that gear all has hit on it.

:D AV then go do AV...then do AV...and after that ...do AV :D

Started my team at 72 and have never looked back. I did run a few instances to stave off insanity, but mostly we just run AV. Last night as the team hit 78 – alliance has a very good win/loss ratio in my battlegroup I noticed that my team was nearing the honor cap of 75k. A quick trip to Stormwind to drop 50k honor on bright shiny new Deadly purple gear that is class specific; then you guessed it….back to AV.

The girls will hit 80 over this next weekend and will no doubt have enough honor to purchase another piece of gear; although once they hit 80 I will be using the Arena to getto farm 344 points a week and combine the honor to fully equip them in PvP gear.

For PvE gearing I will be using my previous main solo account DK who is over the defense cap and can easily tank all the heroics. Once the other 4 RaF accounts are geared enough to keep my new Prot Pally alive she will replace the DK.

At 78 AV is total blast; my girls pretty much mow down any nasty Horde that we come across. Tower Point is my usual roust as the horde loves to see if they can take it just before the cap timer. What a tasty surprise I give them once they step inside to find a highly focused team systematically blow them apart. Once the tower is capped we run off to face Drek.

Allowing battlegrounds to give experience is in my opinion another stroke of genius on the developer’s part to continue to milk $75.00 a month from me. :p

Feider the current crop of PvP gear is a poor substitute for the best PvE gear available currently (except maybe the weapons) but is far and away above most of the things you can get running heroics. On top of this, you can accumulate the gear in a consistent and reliable way on all FIVE toons rather than getting to run a heroic once daily and hoping that you get the drop you want and repeating this process 4 more times. For the same reason, the only reason I run heoroics is for the 5 x emblems per boss, which allow me to slowly accumulate raid quality gear.

The non set items, neck piece, ring and cloak all have options for +hit gear. There is also the craftable stuff which is comparable to the craftable epic cloth gear, but leather. Itemisation has definitely improved a lot since the old days, so you shouldn't have any problems finding gear for your 'kin.
