right now im using one of the older 680i sli boards (pre pci-e 2.0) and i figure thats my bottleneck atm, with 4gb or ram and a q6600 quad core, was looking at the evga 790i or one of the asus boards. whats your guys opinion? any help is greatly apreciated.

As far as I'm aware only dual GPU cards such as a 295/4870 come close to fully saturating PCIEx16(v1). I may be wrong.
What are your ''issues''? Also, I'd get some more ram and a 64 bit OS, it will make things go smoother.

im running dual boot with winxp pro and win7, finishing up the win7 setup 2night, gonna try that, using a 4850x2 vid card with 2gb ram on it, 4 velociraptor 150's in raid. thats bout it, 2 monitors 22", 1 x 4 setup with keyclone. q6600 processor.
i see your using 2x 9800gx2's, are u running them in sli on 1 screen? or 1card per monitor?

I actually haven't played wow on any of these cards, but I do have two monitors hooked up to each one. They're happily number crunching and munching right now. (not in SLI)
I say again - what are your issues? What makes you think your motherboard is your bottleneck?

wish you were in Chicago, i have evga 790i sitting in my closet >>
Its not a board for newbs btw, you need to know how to adjust settings to make it stable.

i actually discovered another issue, with the 4850x2 there are 2 gpu's and only one of them is showing activity, while both screens are running, and the other shows 0. i jst got the 4850x2 cause it was on sale and according to several reveiws was a pretty hot card, btw, the reason i think the mobo is the bottleneck is cause the 680i's don't have pci-e 2.0 its only 1.0. and im not a newb by any means, ive been building and overclocking since b4 it was really even thought of, even back in the amd t-bird days when u had to reconnect the traces, lolZ (kinda shows my age) when we modded a case, it was with a 4.5 hole saw to put a fan in it, cases with windows were unheard of. if you would like to sale or donat that board to the cause, let me know, i'll gladly pay you for it.
