I didn't actually try to bring in an alt at 75, I waited until 77 myself.
my alt mage has everything you can get for a mage from the non-heroic ToC and he's only 78.
I'm working on gearing up a 77 warlock and an 80 ret pally.
It bothers me that the 77/78 can't join in a heroic run of other places that don't have as nice gear as ToC non-heroic.

One could ask the same question regarding AV reward gear. One can acquire honor gear…none of it can be equipped until level 80. Now if one could run ToC normal with a “normal” group of say 77…then I would see a valid argument. Just because I can take my 80 <insert class here> and run a group of level 20’s through say Scarlet Monastery and gear them all up with level 40 gear, doesnt make the system flawed.
Heroics have a barrier to entry. BC it was faction, and WoTLK is level restriction.

sounds reasonable... I would still think the system flawed if I couldn't get into SM until 40 though :)

You know you just gave me the idea of running one paladin in my shaman group to get ToC gear for him, thanks!

Cat got the idea from me when i took my mage in and was showing off all his phatt lootz in guild chat. As soon as I hit 80 with him he had something for 90% of his slots that was a lvl 80 epic ( leveled in AV, so some pvp gear). Hes rocking 2500 dps with frostbolt spam on trash and 4k on bosses! he just turned 80 yesterday!
