After finding out that Aion can be boxed i tried a little boxing on Sat + Sun (Only got to lvl 10). I was using 1 computer and 2 clients (pre-order and a fileplanet key) and I used keyclone. I wasn't too focused setting up macros and maximizer and stuff just wanted to see if it was boxable on my computer. I ran everything with default stuff and had 0 lag, but when i got to the major city i had a little bit of lag. I played to sorcerer, and all i can say is WIN (i wasn't even using the slow effect cause they would die before they got to me)
The only thing that was strange was that jump command would not go through to the other client. I even tried to map it to a different key and still had no luck. This isn't a good thing, because you need to tap jump twice to glide and if the toon on follow gets stuck behind something you cannot jump over it.
The other thing that got my a little upset was the follow command. Lucky that they have one, but it breaks every time that there is a spell cast. This wasn't a big deal i just got use to spamming the follow macro. The good thing is that you don't have to worry about range for spells, because if you are to far away the toon will get closer to shoot. Macros where also a little difficult to use too (probably just use to the wow marcos). I found that if I made a macro to one button to assist my main that sometimes the command didn't go through so i just made a macro to focus on my mains target (If anyone knows the macro to cast spell on [main's name] target that would be great). Don't have my macro in front of me but it was something like:
/Select [%Group1]
/Delay 0.5
/Select [%Target of Target]
Now to the question should I or should I not dual box this game?
Bad:
- With the jump not working this is going to be a big disadvantage, but the page up and down command (to open your wings to fly and land) work so that is good.
- Leveling takes a lot longer to do (had to grind 1 lvl to get to lvl 9, all quests where done. On a solo toon i was lvl 11 by the time i left the starting zone).
- Movement won't be as good because you always have to spam that follow command (plus i wasn't a huge pvp person in wow so i am not use to moving around). From the videos that i saw sorcerers are moving a lot.
Good:
- Less down time
- Mobs die real quick (i haven't even got to my more powerful spells yet)
- People soloing will think twice before they take me on in PvP
- If i can find a good healer and PvP will be a joke
