Grounding Totem will now properly protect against the Death Grip spell.

Finally!!! Almost as good as the FoK nerf IMO! :D

Heh...TBH, I don't play my DK's that much these days (apart from tanking for my shams)...they kinda got hit hard with the nerf bat last few patches...plus I have new toys now (pallies). :D

Also;
Shamanism: Your Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning spells gain an additional 3/6/9/12/15% and your Lava Burst gains an additional 4/8/12/16/20% of your bonus damage effects.

Interesting... so it should be beneficial to weave chain lightning back into rotations again for single target dps when you have >2000SP

I could image chain lighting doing 10k hits would be neat

An initial pass at the numbers suggests that CL is now worth using in rotations but only when not lusted. It's still a little early to tell but the musings over at EJ seem to support this hypothesis.

don't forget to mention the new Glyph of Flame Shock and the redisign of the lava burst !!!

Flame Shock: The duration of all ranks has been increased by 6 seconds.
Lava Burst: This ability no longer ever consumes a Flame Shock debuff off of the target.
Glyph of Flame Shock: Redesigned. This glyph now makes Flame Shock periodic damage able to be critical strikes (like the bonus of T8 set)

That's a pretty UP !!!

My Blood Dks were more powerful than my paladins are... I want to cry for spending 82 WINS in AV leveling them. Such a waste.

I'm crying tears of sweet sweet joy right now.

Waited far too long for this. With the change to FS glyph, I may be tempted to glyph for CL now.

CL glyph.. you mean the one for a fourth target or something else?

I assume thats what he means.

It's down to Flametongue for 2% crit or Totem of Wrath for 80 spell power but the loss of a talent point, not sure if it's worth it.

heyaz
09-14-2009, 07:19 PM
Hmm.. could go back to good ol flametongue

If chain lightning is going to hit as hard as I think it will, I might like the idea of hitting 4 targets (I use it a ton in bg's, wg, etc, it scares people)

id go 2% crit no doubt...cl glyph is a big funfactor in bgs. but for arenas id do flametounge

As i PVE alot, I'm wondering what the new T8 2part set-bonus will be after the changes, since now that is ' Flame Shock periodic damage able to be critical strikes'

Really hope they change it into something new and usefull (NOT reduced mana-cost)
It would be stupid if they acctually kept it, along with the same effect from the glyph.

They are not changing the set bonusses (its T8 set bonus btw) the intention is that you will eventually replace T8 anyway.

Why not Thunderstorm

Why not Thunderstorm

I thought everyone already used glyph of lava and glyph of thunderstorm for the first two?

Ogloo

glyph of lava are usually given, then its a toss up for
1. lightning
2. stone skin
3. thunderstorm
4. lightning
(in no particular order)

I'll prob be going totem of wrath glyph for pve, but im tossing up glyph of thunder or even glyph of elemental mastery for pvp. I'm not sure if 2% crit is all that great, maybe for pvp it is for for pve it sure isn't. Hell, maybe even glyph of stoneclaw totem

Since this is a PvP thread, I'll mention that the 3 arena glyphs you need are: Lava, Shocking, Thunder (thunderstorm is slightly debatable.. I feel its mandatory however). They arent changing with the patch so they will remain the same.

Some new options for the PVE folks tho, so thats good :)

Non-arena question: Why is glyph of lava always recommended? I'm in crappy gear (1400ish SP unbuffed) and 5x lava burst is like 35k damage. Add 5k for the flame shock and why would you worry about 10% more SP on lava burst? Seems like you'd get more use out of the CL glyph.

Hmm I completely forgot about the Thunderstorm glyph, well that solves that dilemma! haha.

Quick question - Isn't glyph of thunderstorm basically 2% extra mana back but no longer knocks folks back.

I rely on Thunderstorm to push people away from me - am i missing something as to why this is a must have?

There are two different thunderstorm glyphs.

Interesting I only see one on WoWHead =(

I found glyph of thunderstorm - minor glyph, increased mana back at the expense of the loss of knock back.

A more recent glyph, Glyph of Thunder, appears to be a major glyph that reduces the cooldown on Thunderstorm by a lovely 10 seconds, with as far as I could see with no negative effect.
Now I understand exactly how lovely that would be.

OMG how did I not know of this glyph! =(

exactly how i felt. I'll be heading to the AH next time I log on to see if any are available.

I'll reread this thread to see the other recommended glyphs.

Resilience and pre-hots make a decent dent in that 35k expected damage @ 2200sp unbuffed I hit a priest with 5 FS and 5 instant LvB and watched the damn thing run away...now I shoot locks first as long as i don't see a shaman that could have grounding down any second. For warriors and rogues i just spread out with magma down and work on picking off the healers, trying to force them to self heal or save the melee.

I currently have wrath, flame shock, and lava glyphs. This seems to be a decent combo for damage to get through the lower end of the 5's bracket with all the gimmick 7 second setups. I will most likely be switching back to shocking, lava, and thunder after the patch. With a slight change in a couple specs this should be a decent setup. Using 2 or 3 TS at a time to separate melee from the healers and nuke them before they get back for a heal, will be nice especially knowing I can rinse and repeat a bit sooner.
