So i must be a complete moron or something. I'm trying to run Octopus 1.3.8, i have read every setup write up I could come across. I have everything setup like they all said, running as admin. 2 insances made per step-by-step inscrutions. I cannot get the maximize to work. it does nothing. As for the PiP hotkey I put F10 for wow1 and F9 for wow2. is there a trigger key I need to press? I have the Tab key as the click broadcast with hold checked. any idea's what I am missing? I see alot of people posting about keyclone, do I need it for Octopus to work? thanks for your time.

No, you don't need keyclone for octopus to work. They perform the same basic tasks.

For maximizer to work, it all has to be set correctly. As an example, I have one wow running on my main box on my left monitor (of two). Left monitor is set to 1920x1200 resolution on the desktop.

Step 1: Under Client-->Games, added my main as tag "WoW" and the path to wow.exe as usual.

Step 2: Under Server-->Maximize, it is tagged as "WoW" with Region X = 10 (10 pixels from left side of screen), Y = 0 (top of screen), Width = 1400, Height = 1050.

Step 3: In the Profiles setup (the "..." button next to Profile on the Status tab), I have my main instance set to:

Name = WoW
Game = localhost:WoW
Maximizer = WoW
Display = 1
Receives keys and clicks are checked
Topmost window and receives cursor are not checked
Sound is checked
Rest is left at defaults

That works fine here, though I'm on XP and not Vista.

For PIP, I set my guys to RCtrl+F1-F4, and added those key combos to the Server-->Keys list, with whitelist UNchecked so it blacklists those keys. Seems to work OK here.

If the above doesn't get it, post some more data on your config and I'll see if I can replicate it here.
