How did you gear up?

So I recently hit 80 on all my chars (the ones in the sig)

I did a lot of 5boxing pvp, but I have had 0 luck finding raids that will let me box... I can't even find a VOA that will let me box.

So I started solo gearing them (1-2 instances per char)

to compare them this is their be.imba scores now with main specs and offspecs listed in that order:
Subbs 514.23 - Ret / Prot Paladin
Heartplanetr 439.44 - Resto / Ele Shaman
Fireplanetr 362.07 - Frostfire / Arcane Mage
Waterplanetr 284.79 - Ele / Resto Shaman
Earthplanetr 202.09 - Ele / Resto Shaman
Windplanetr 183.45 - Ele / Resto Shaman

So I have 2/5 geared up good enough to start multiboxing heroics (should be around 2.5k-3k dps depending on the fight), the resto shaman is at 2k-3k hps also depending on the fight.

Is there an easier way to gear them up? should I just grind AV for PVP gear and say screw PVE gear?

I looked at atlas loot and then instanced my way to 80 based on what dungeons would give me good blues. When I hit 80 all my guys were in the best blues I could farm. Then I started farming the easier heroics for gear/badges. I would do H HoL, H Gun, and H UK everyday. This gave me a bunch of decent drops and 12 emblems a day. At that rate I was in full emblem gear in about a month.

Now I am farming H ToC thanks to the tactics I discovered here on Dual-Boxing.com

link for the h toc tactics? I've wanted to 3 box toc and h toc but the mounts own me...

Yeah I thought about BOE epics... but 1k per char = gets expensive quickly, I'm attempting to save up for enchants / gems / epic mounts, even though 1k in an hour or two is easy to make while 5boxing... 30k-40k still seems pretty difficult.

Also why did you pick H HoL / H Gun / H UK?
aren't H VH, H UP, H AN just as easy if not quicker for the badges?

i geared my toons up in blues/crafted stuff before i started heroics. Most of which i got questing, made or bought of the AH. Once i started Heroics i hit UK, DtK, Gun, CoS are the ones i try to get in every day. i Skip VH, it's a pain and i don't like boxing it. UP is ok for the first 2 bosses. 3rd is trouble if your not geared well and have the strat down. and i don't like AN or OK so i generally pass on those as well.

And i've also found what is easy to do in a PUG is not generally easy to Box, which is why you see people doing different ones.

I also sneak my alts in to Raids when i can, as i raid 4-5 days a week, so they tend to end up with alot of mis matched epics.

To be honest, as long as your tank has the def. rating you could multbox heroics in green. My first 80 was a solo character and I did heroics in green gear with him. In a number of occasions I did more dps than those geared for heroics.
I'd just take the team in there and get some heroics done and some regular ToC as well and that will get you some raid gear due to the emblems we get now. Also ToC drops naxx level stuff so you can get some really good upgrades just farming that.

That is what I'm going to start doing.

VOA on all chars each week 10m/25m
Naxx 25man on as many as I can in a week (for badges and to get a good base line of gear).

Then I'm going to start doing Ulduar 10m / Ulduar 25m fill in spots on random chars when they're geared enough.

Of course all chars will get the 2p 8.5 and 2p 9.5 at some point.

My tank is in mostely 10m Ulduar gear (42k health buffed, 35k health self buffed), my problem with multiboxing ToC is the mounts with ISBoxer due to assist auto being the current account, but the current account is the horse when assited, so it doesn't assist correctly (is what I think)

I did hateful pvp gear + boe blues, tanked my early heroics in a dk with less than 500 defense and a bunch of resil.

Heroic/welfare pvp gear capped now other than the 2 triumph badges that trickle in every day, waiting for the new 5 mans :|

I don't like timed fights. I play the game to relax and timed fights makes me feel to pressured. I would clear H GuN in 17 minutes and it gives 5 badges. Most of the pulls in there you can just skip by swimming around them.

H UP of course was a breeze and I would do H HoL in 27 minutes for four badges.

I know timing how fast I clear may seem like pressure but it is pressure I can exert on myself and not have forced on me. So I did not mind competing against myself.

I started doing Heroic Gundrak 3 bosses first, since my gear was ubercrap at 80 ding. Then i advanced to full run Gundrak, and started doing Heroic UP/UK. After farming those a while, i could easily clear most heroics.

If you are having trouble...check out quest-gear. There are alot of good upgrades from elitequest/chain-quests, if you newly dinged that is. And don't do think that small upgrades don't matter, because they really do. e.g +16 SP from an item, x4 mean your group will have 64 more SP all the time. You wont notice this for each upgrade ofc, but after a when it adds up...oh boy!

And ofc, skip most of the trash. Gundrak you can skip almost anything with jumping down in water after snakeboss, running up to the golem/water elemental boss (You will pull adds if you do it this way, but when u get gear this is eez) then swimming to the next.

Also, don't give up. Once you get the hang of it, heroics go FAST.

I geared up all my shaman in 100% pvp gear. For my tank, I ran some normal instances and got a bunch of stuff crafted. I did some heroics back when my tank had about 22k hp and my shaman were in savage pvp gear, and they were tough but doable (needed the shields).

I took a break and went back to farming heroics when 3.2 came out, in full deadly/furious gear on the shaman and tank with 28k hp. They were super easy at that point. I farmed badges and ToC to get my shaman in 2 piece tier 8.5 and several other pve pieces, and my tank at 31k unbuffed, and now I kill the bosses without even having to heal my tank. Would love to get more gear with +haste though, that really seems to up the dps in heroics.
