Don't worry, I've searched and read a bunch of stuff before posting my question. I also RAF'd 5 accounts on one laptop, so I'm not new to the scene.

I'm trying to figure out my best comp for 2 boxing (and ONLY 2, not 3, 4, etc.).

I'm planning to 2-box some end game with very well geared toons. I have the following level 80, end game geared characters:
1. Warrior (very geared prot, decent geared DPS).
2. Paladin (very geared holy, decent geared tank and DPS).
3. Druid (very geared resto, decent geared DPS, sub-geared tank).
4. Warlock (very geared DPS).

I also have a few other toons that are gradually making their way to 80.

I'll need to move one of these toons onto my other account (which will cost $ for the transfer) and I'm trying to figure out what setup is best.

I love tanking on my warrior, and I usually pull 2.2k dps *tanking* heroics (exp and hit capped makes a huge difference). What I would like to do is move my druid or pally over to the second account and have one of them heal him. Then I can also mess around on my warlock + heals.

So here are my options:

1. Prot Warrior + Holy Pally. My pally is an amazing healer. Uses next to no mana and can take a few hits when he has to. I would spec him for the improved bubble (long and amazing sacred shield), maybe even take him deep prot with some holy for the stam > spell power increase, and just spam 8k FoLs all day on my warrior. My one and only concern with this comp is controller the pallies movement because 90% of the time he'll need to stand still to heal (occasional holy shock while moving into position would be fine though). Judgement of light woudl also be great. Standing still there's no way either of us would come close to dying... But I'd have to manage his position somewhat, or at least stop following, before every pull which sounds like a pain.

2. Prot Warrior + Resto Druid. My druid won't single target heal me quite as well as my pally when standing still, but the ability to heal on the move sounds like a real win. Lifebloom stacks would do the trick most of the time. Also he'd be able to party heal others a bit better than my pally. The only problem with my druid is there's a lot more micromanagement / casting involved, and he's way squishier than my pally (especially if i took the pally into a prot build with holy pvp gear). I wouldn't have to worry much about his positioning. I could probably leave him on follow at all times.

I'd like to keep one healer on each account since both can also tank. That way I could switch it up a bit (bear + healadin or prot pally + tree).

Thoughts? Anyone run these comps at end game? Geared?

Gosh I am not sure you could go wrong with either set up. You have stated some very good points on both sides. I like the idea of a Druid myself scouting with stealth, combat rez are attractive but in 2 boxing I wonder how situational combat rez will be. Instant cast on the move is really just outstanding but than if you are just two boxing either the tank has aggro or he is chasing it down and taunting it back. I think I just talked myself out of druid......

Define end game?

Heroics? You'll do fine with either.

Naxx? You'll do fine with either.

Ulduar? You'll have trouble, LOTS of it, with fights like FL, Ignis, XT, Kologarn, Iron Council, Hodir, Freya, Mimiron, General Vezax....

ToC? I can see a 2 boxer being a huge liability on almost all of these fights.

Not saying it can't be done, but healing and tanking are two of the hardest jobs in a raid... splitting your duty between them means you'll be average at best on both.

Well I'm pretty good at both when that's all I'm doing. I'd say I'm a better thank than healer though, and since the healer is really just a supporting role I'm hoping my tanking skill won't be compromised.

I agree that uld toc will be hard. I'll probably need to outgear those first. For heroics / raids though I find the damage I take tnaking isn't really that high. And also when I'm tanking DPS never gets aggro from me and only take damage from AoE or random aggro switches (like poison spears, random boss frostbolts, eck, etc.).

I also have 2 shammies available on separate accounts (both level 60 where I left them after RAFing). Maybe I'll try 3 boxing with the 2 shammies instead. Shouldn't take long to instance boost em to 80 and I like the idea of chain heals for larger groups. Kinda boring is all, but my warrior is an enchanter, so should make some decent coin while doing it. How are shammies at healing on the run? Would I need to park em before each pull?

Are there any viable hybrid shammy specs? This is the only class I really don't know. I know the dual-boxing community is in love with them too. Am thinking if both were resto/elemental spec'd they could dish out some helper DPS at 80, keep me topped up, and also toss some AoE heals. Would love a spec example.

If I'm always going to be parking the healer, than I just don't see any other class outdoing pally heals (prot spec with holy gear) for survivability and amazing single target burst heals.

This just sound weird to me.. lol.. Maybe to much beer..
You used RAF to lvl up 5 accounts? Multiboxing?
I assume you only lvl'd dps classes then and not running with a dedicated healer.
Because you always "park" your healer more or less.
Sure you use separate movement keys for slaves and so, but i think you will have problems tanking encounters with a lot of movement and at the same time moving with your "healer" slave toon at some other direction.
I have been boxing now and then in Uld 25 with 2 or 3 of my shamans, but only as dps when we have been running through alts and have been short on ppl. Its more then doable, but both tanking and healing most of the encounters. That will be hard to pull off imo.
Anyway, GL with that though. Would like to hear how it went for ya.

Well I linked 5 accounts (my main account and 4 new accounts) and instance boosted several sets of 4 alts, each getting the RAF bonus, up to level 60, then level granted to some alts on my main account.

Anyways, when instance boosting low levels I would just park the lowbies at the front of the instance, run in on my main and pull all the mobs back to them, then kill them.

I really just use follow macros and clonekeys etc. Nothing fancy. Now I actually want to play a couple toons at the same time and am trying to figure out what setup to use given my current toons. I'm going to give the dual shammy thing a try and see if I can handle the boredom of boosting from 60-80 or not.

So I've been leveling my two shammy alts with my prot warrior boosting em in instances. lvl 64 now. Ramps, bf, coilfang runs, and mana tombs / crypts.

Now that I'm getting the feel for it. I definitely think for 2 manning stuff, the paladin would be better with, beacon, cheap but big heals, instant heal when needed (on the run), kings / salv, and very hard to kill.

However healing others running with you would be very hard with a pally (judge light + glyph for holy light with a smallish AoE heal is about it). I also think it'd be very hard to heal significant party damage with a druid as your second box. Even though trees excel at raid healing, it takes quite a bit of micromanaging and would be extremely difficult to manage more than wild growth on other party members.

Now... as for shammies, I think this is where they can really shine. Glyphed and spec'd for chain heal could easily keep your party members up in a heroic run unless you can't maintain aggro with your tank of course. I don't think they can compete with a tank + healadin for two manning stuff, but when you pull others into the group for heroics, raids, etc. I definitely agree than shammies are win.

If I don't get too bored before I boost my two shammies to 80, then I'm planning to take them hybrid resto/elemental. I figure that combined they'll be just as good as a dedicated healer and just as good as a dedicated DPSer. Which will be make reg runs a breeze, and many of the heroics 3-mannable (and easy enough to pug 2 deeps for those you can't).

I also think they'll be fine in quite a bit of raid content. Fights with major movement will be tough, and you wouldn't want to be the only healers in the raid. I think you'd still want 2 dedicated healers and they could act as off-heals + dps. That way if you lose control of them or mess up it won't cost the raid too much. Plus 2xtotems is very complimentary. You have quite a bit of raid utility.

For managing the stop and go, I just mapped a macro that makes them follow each other (essentially they stop) that is maped to the same key as my warriors charge keybind. Works pretty well so far. Keeps me in range of the totems, and they can bolt + heal out of most AoE / cleave damage. Reincarnate is amazing too when you're not using a pally tank at least.

I'll still probably move my druid over for some 2 man fun, so we'll see how that goes.
