HToC Five Man Easy Mode for Jousting

So I checked this with the mods and he is ok with me posting this.

Yesterday I had some timing issues, read baby waking up, and lost like two of my guys in the jousting part while checking on my baby. When I get back to my system I think to myself hey why not ride around and have some fun. So I am riding around on my main staying in front of the boss mobs and the boss mobs seem kind of confused and have a hard time keeping up with my main.

Basically what I start doing is hunter kiting them which is jump turn shoot turn land thing. While I realize I can kill the bosses this way it would take forever. Since I was pretty much on a wipe I decided to see how long it would take.

So about 5 minutes goes by and suddenly my DK gets dehorsed and dies. I am like WTF..... well when I zone my team back in the bosses are also off their horses and ready for the next stage...

So I zone out reset and this time I purposely ride around kiting the bosses. Sure enough, I did not time how long, after several minutes all my guys dehorse and so do the bosses. I run out reset and come in and wipe the floor with them.

So bottom line is if you have mastered the jousting part then joust away it is much faster. If you are struggling just ride around the outside of the ring jumping onto fresh mounts as you go. After a bit the bosses will advance to the next stage automatically.

Not sure if this is intended or not but I would say enjoy it while it lasts.

Do you need to kill the 3x3 before the bosses if you want to do this?

Yeah I have always killed the trash.

I just did an HToC by going in and killing the trash then riding loops around the arena and it advances on its own.

Long enough that its just easier to kill them. I rarely lose a guy to this anymore and it takes maybe 3 mins to dehorse the champions.

I tried this on normal mode, but nothing happend. I was running in circles for 12 full minutes, my slaves did not survive that long, but my main did...but they didnt unmount. I tried releasing my slaves to GY after about 7 mins, but i nothing happend then eather.

You sure you didnt do anything more? Did you kill 1 or 2 of em first?

Yeah sorry I forgot to mention I do keep them targetted and generally drop one to two of them and after a bit they just all dehorse and it goes to the next stage.

This is the technique I do now.

I line my guys up by a wall near some mounts. I do the normal 1,2,4 button mash. I don't bother swapping out my slaves I just let them die. I keep my main up and running. What happens is I will drop one. Get about half way through the second one and then they all dehorse at some point. Sometimes the second one goes down before the demount. 100% of the time the third guy demounts before I even do one point of damage to him.

I find this much less stressful than trying to scramble and keep all my slaves alive.

When I rode loops I did keep them targetted with all my guys and was mashing 1,2,4 and did unmount one before they all dehorsed.

If you are good with the scramble and getting fresh mounts for all your guys as the fight goes on then that method is much faster. I just find the time out method less stressful more of a sitback and relax type of thing.

I struggled as well until I watched Niley run this on heroic. I just stand in the middle, and spam 1 and 4 with everyone on top of each other, when the mobs run away, I shield break. I can do the jousting fine on normal now. Haven't tried heroic.

Nova can you post a link to that. and is it Niley doing a heroic or nomral? I looked but did not find it under movies. I was under the impression that standing in the middle did not work because the mobs would end up behind you.

They will get behind you, just turn all your toons with the keyboard to face them again. Getting new mounts isnt that hectic, if you start going for a new one at 50% health.

I can clear this on Heroic, but I would not say I have it on farm yet as there are usually several wipes. It is actually the jousting that gives me the most problems it seems. I started by having my guys against a wall, but found being closer to the middle better as it gives me more time to trample if one of them manages to start walking towards a mount.

My problem seems to be right after I get the trash guys down and and the 3 of them charge, they usually knock my main down to %50 in about a second. A few seconds after that, I'm already dismounted and trying to get to another mount while I keep attacking with my slaves. I find If I can manage to stay mounted on all my toons and dismount one of them first, it is no problem, but when my main (usually the case), or one of my slaves gets knocked off first, game over.

Last night after an unusal number of wipes just on this first phase, I tried another tactic. Instead of shield breaking when they went to range, I would charge x 5. I got all 3 of them down first try with this method. Had a little bit of trouble gathering up my guys after a charge, but usally spamming /follow would get them all together. I would joust with them when they are close again, and charge when they went to ranged again. I'm going to try it again tonight, see if it is more effective than just stacking up and jousting with them, and shield breaking when they go to ranged.
