25-40 Alt powerlevelling with 70 (SM)

Well, I think I've found the perfect way to level my alts. With my 70 pally. Protection spec. SM stockades. I leave my shammy(s) near the beginning, aggro the first bit of hte instance with the pally , AOE em down. Then I aggro the entire rest of the instance, most of it, all the way up to the boss, run em back, aoe em down. Entire think takes about 5-6 minutes. As you can see from the pics.. not too shabby.

I was doing that with my mages, never tried with a pally. How do you AOE them with pally when some of the mobs run away on low health, or you just wait until they came back. 25-40 goes really quickly if you just camp SM.

I did that with my alliance pve team, works well indeed. Problem is after you get good at it, you will run up on the 5 instances/hour limit. You could go armory to cath and then reset. I did this when they had the Headless Horseman quest, so level 70's were all over the place. As soon as I came out to reset, it was gank city. Maybe it's better now:)

I'm working on 5 shamans now the old fashioned way, via quests.

I used my 70 fury warrior to plow my 4 alts through Stocks, SM, and ZF. Works out to be way faster than "normal" leveling.

Yeah, the mobs run away when they are almost dead, so I just line of sight around a corner so the casters come to me with the melee and finish them off with consecration. This only takes about 20 seconds longer than with my mage, also have a 70 I do this sometimes with.

And yeah, I think they made it now that you can only enter 5 instances per hour, regardless of which one it is. When I encounter this I just switch to my mage and run through my other 1 or 2 alts.

See, I have a 70 mage on one account, 70 pally/70 hunter on another, and just 1 low level shaman on the third. So I can only run 2 of the alts at a time with my own characters. This is tedious as I have to run 1 or 2 of the alts to catch up with the other(s).. so im basically levelling up twice. Kind of a pain but once I hit 35 or so I'll probably hit up some easy questing zones.

My pally is on another realm and I was gonna transfer him back to be the MT for my 4 shammy party starting in outlands.... but..... I tried to move him today and he can't move till the 2nd of Feb, gutted, ok rant over.

Seeing as he can Aoe tank 8 or 9 undead at the Expedition armoury at L61 in Outlands with prot spec, I bet he could tank 30 or so guys in SM. I had a pally friend (holy) who did a few runs of SM cath with me, pulling the whole of the indoors after I'd cleared the outside with my 70 hunter. I have little doubt that a prot specced palla with decent gear could take the whole instance down in less than 10 minutes.

I did it with a mage, I did it with a hunter, but tbh, a prot specced pally with good gear could clear it quicker than all.

Hehe, on my pally I can 2 pull sm cath. I do the first pull up to the doors.. then my 2nd pull is just to aggro the boss, and the entire cathedral pulls. No sweat! (well maybe a little)

I actually get level 1 alts whispering me while I'm questing, saying that they've found me on dual-boxing.com and want me to walk them through setting up keyclone (to which I forward them right back here -- I don't use keyclone). I also get a few who are just honestly curious and want to ask me questions.

It doesn't particularly bother me most times, but it might bother someone else. It's their right to privacy if they want to keep their chars hidden.

It's not like nobody else here is secretive. I mean, look at Xzin and all his pics of "it's almost a pic of my setup but not really".

could you give me a run down on exactly how you are doing it, including the equipment you are wearing.
I can get myself to almost the end using salvation and then start the run back picking up all the agro but i come close to dieing well before they are all dead and need to use LoH, which makes it not very efficent if i can only do the run once an hour lol.

Tips and tricks appreciated.

If he's pulling the entire instance of SM Cath, its very possible that it equals about 3/4 of a level for all those mobs.

at 26 with my 70 running them through, my toons get about 1/2 a level for the entire armoury, but it takes 20 mins, i want to be able to get it down to 10mins a run lol

if they only have 8 hours played then they might not have been in an armory refresh yet, considering i'm still69 and in my old guild in the armory with my main.

Hmm, I was pretty efficient about running my 4 shammies with a 70 mage and only was able to get 40 in about 17 hours played :(

I'm playing on EU-Zenedar, you were most likely looking at US armory :p

Anyways..
1-8 hunter pet leveling (yes, it's dirty :p)
8-10 RFC
10-25 SFK
25-40 SM (Cath and armory)

Each instance takes about 5 minutes, so I'm obviously hitting the 5 instance limit quite frequently, and when I do, I log my alts off. Mainly to avoid attention from people outside the instance :p.

Instance limit in SM doesn't hit me as bad though, since I do both cath and armory which are considered the same instance. Library and graveyard get all buggy when I try to pull everything, so I don't do them :p

Anyways, if I added the time I spent offline waiting for the instance limit to go off, I'd be looking at quite a few hours more :p

Also, I didn't loot any mobs :p

Are you using a prot pally tank to agro the whole instance? Wouldnt the repair be very VERY high at the end.. speicly if hes wearing epics 25-50g :(

Yes, the pally is wearing a few epics.. and yes the repair gets hefty after several runs. Yes he is prot spec. I swapped out some of his other epics for some more +spell dmg gear. Basically.. I have this nifty little trinket that every time I block, I get 150 health. SO what I do is, leave the alts at the front gate.. run in and aggro the first courtyard, bring em back to the beginning and aoe em down.

Then I drag the alts to the stairs, leave them there, run all the way to the bosses door. Aggro all the way back. I don't get caught on the way there because you have to jump corners to avoid the patrols. Also there is one spot you have to jump over cannons to get around the pack.

Btw, the buffs I use is Imp rightous fury (for the damage reduction), Blessing of Sanctuary, and Retribution Aura. This way, when I get all the way back with the 50+ guys on my ass, they are already part dead.

Now sometimes.. Before I get all the way back, and I have about 60% health.. I may bubble and throw one heal, then continue.. or I won't. If I don't, I usually reach the stairs with about 30% health. In which case I just use the trinket and regain full health in about 7 seconds. The mobs die very fast as I've sacrificed some tank gear for spell dmg gear. If I haven't bubbled I use the pally spell that does 150% damage. (I don't have WoW open and I can't remember some spell names)

That is basically how I do it.. When I hit the 5-instance per hour cap,, I log some dudes out, log in with my 70 mage and a different alt and keep going to town. With the mage I have to split it up into several pulls but its pretty fast too.

Btw, I don't loot anything either, and I don't do the last boss.. waste of time. Sometimes I loot if I'm running through a random pug for group xp, and while the pally is drinking etc..but rarely.

BTW guys I am currently building a new computer, this one sucks, so I"ll be making videos for everything that I do for your enjoyment.

I have a 70 Pally and a 70 Mage, and for what it's worth, I have found that the Mage is able to go almost as fast (maybe faster) and with MUCH MUCH MUCH less repair bill...

My favorite mage trick is to pull all of the Cathedral at once by sending in my pet to attack the boss, and he calls the whole rest of the building to his aid. When they all arrive, AoE frost nova the group using the elemental's power, and proceed to Blizzard them down from afar.

Realistically speaking, I chain-run Cathedral in about 4 pulls. 1 front courtyard, 1 upstairs before door, 1 pre-boss cathedral clearout (maybe 1st two pillars), and the final boss/cath pull. It's as fast as my pally doing it, and takes almost no durability hit (on cheap cloth).

Mage isn't even really that well geared, much less so than the pally.

Ofcourse you get to skip most tedious levels, but isnt it boring as hell? Not to mention not giving you a nice grip on the way to play? What do you guys do after so many instances, take up questing or just go instance farm with the group (which virtually should be naked/in greys ?)

with a bit of practice i've got my armory runs down to 17-19 mins including looting (want the stuff for grinding enchanting on 1 toon and tailoring on the 4 squishies) and i'm doing it in 3 pulls, i could probably do it in 2 and reduce the time by a few more mins but 3 makes it nice and easy so i'm happy with that for the moment.

Personally, I rolled 3xShammies to go along with a L70 Shammy, my first ever WoW character. I've played the class extensively, so I know what I'm doing in terms of Shamanizing.

I played the three of them together from L1-12, mostly to figure out my basic macro structure and get a feel for movement issues. But using my other L70s is so much faster and convenient, and I don't have to worry about gearing them up or what not.

I figure I'll keep hammering out SM until I hit 40, by which time I'll have full set of Scarlet Mail armor for all of them, all the totems I will need (for the most part) as well as Chain Lightning and (almost) Chain Heal. At that point I will probably switch to outdoor questing.

In all likelihood, I will use my L70 Shaman with the three newbies once they hit L40 and run instances that are more L40 appropriate. This will give me a chance to further refine my macro/totem strategies on all four guys, even if their levels are still disparate.

It's also quite tempting to start letting my L70 Pally tank for them, and give them (well, me) some practice healing/DPSing in instances using a very durable meat shield. For Outlands, I plan to quest/instance with the 4 shammies and my pally anyhow, and avoid the open world PvP scene for as long as possible.

For now, I'm having fun with an "optimize SM Cath run" mini-game on my mage. The shaman team getting some levels out of the deal is a nice benefit as well.

I would say, you could take a look at ZulF/the Pirates in tanaris and then the BRD (or Questing) and then with ~50 into Scholo or Strath (Tyr's Hand?; There is nobody on my Server; With my Mage no Problem to bomb the Mob groups)

Thats what I thought too. I ended up with all having Mantle of Doan/Inquisitors Shawl, 3 Robes of Doan, 4 Neckpieces but only 1 Whitemanes :( Luckly the Quest reward hat from ZF is better than Whitemanes :)

As for stuff to do at 40ish, try to finish up STV as there is still probably a lot of good XP from there if you spent a lot of time lvling up in SM. I started ZF at 43, though I couldn't kill every boss. After that I did a few kill quests in Tanaris then when and got all the quests for ZF as well as the Mallet to summon Gahz'rilla.

At 46 I went to Mara, make sure to get all those quests to, they give lots and lots of XP. The Staff of Celebris quest gave like 15000 I think, so even if you don't need it on all your clones, get it anyway.

I'm at 46 now, almost 47, and will run Mara a few more times. I completed purple and orange but I ran out of time and didn't attempt the center area.

WPL has a few fields that you can do 10+ pulls.. I did them with my pally and healer in tow when leveling. They're not elites tho so the exp is not as good as an instances.
