I have been playing this game since 2004 and I am tried of it. Anyone else feel the same? I dont feel like leveling 15 guys to 85 only to do the same gear grind again. I am hoping that new star wars game is fun. After playing this game from 2004 to present I am burnt out.

I hear ya and in he same boat. I'm currently looking for new games to box now myself. I'm use to boxing a full group and scared that the newer games coming are using graphics engines that are newer and take alot of resources out of the box so i would not be able to box that amount on a single machine like I do WoW.
I dont want to buy another computer for the sole purpose of boxing a set amount of toons to keep my performance somewhat high...

Aion... seriously. I'm playing it on open beta (not boxing, but it is boxable) and its freaking sweat. Definately the partial WoW killer.

Nope, not at all. Very excited about it actually

quite excited about cataclysm

on the other hand i'm also quite ambivalent about wow as a whole

having tried out other recent games, i find myself really hurting for character customization options back in wow

nothing is perfect, of course, but my satisfaction with wow is rapidly eroding

Yup, not in the least excited about the new expansion.

"Additional instances cannot be launched, please try again later." killed WoW for me about a month ago, when it got so bad that I couldn't get an instance after 10am on a weekday, and the details we've seen of the expansion really aren't tempting me back.

I'm definately looking forward to the new WoW expansion even though I've been playing since day 1. I take breaks from WoW when I get burned out, but there isn't any other game out there I've gone back to time and time again like I have with WoW. I'm looking forward to questing through the redone areas with a new team when it comes out.

I too am hoping that the new Star Wars game is great, but I'm not counting on it for boxing. WoW will be the game I go back to when I'm in the mood for 5 boxing.

Btw, I tried the Aion beta and while it looks pretty, it's missing a lot of character development flexibility and depth WoW provides, not to mention gear diversity, instances, raids, etc. Seems like a decent game considering it is Korean made, but I doubt it will last longer than 6 months for former wow players who also enjoy good pve content. I played a few chars into the twenties before getting bored with each class I played. No way I would have kept the game past the 30 day free period so I cancelled my order.

wow is a good game, i enjoy it and all that, but meh very excited about new expansion to just play new stuff, ( new bgs? arenas? raids?" but not very excited about them just taking the same instance and making them lvl 85 and harder to kill.. im already bored lookin at it cuz i instance boost my toons through all the Deadmines and stuff

Love the look of the expansion, hate having to level and re-gear again. Tho I'm sure I have less toons than most here, I have a 60+ of every class I use to mix'n'match my teams.

Going to use AV to level them all to 80 pre Cataclysm.

They are still making new 5 man instances and raids besides adding a heroic mode to a couple classic instances (players requested heroic Deadmines and SFK many times). They plan to launch with 7 new 80-85 zones, 4 new raids, several new 5 man instances, etc.) There should be plenty of new content for chars of all level ranges which is great for us multi-boxers that tend of have teams at different levels.

I am looking forward to it, frankly I tend to get annoyed with WOW every once in a while, but like someone else said I take a break then. I have tried warhammer and aoc but don't really have the time to dive full on into a new game.

On a separate note, last time I leveled a group of 4 right from day one of WOLK, this time I think I will level a single character first for fun, then go back and level a group. It just took way to long to level the whole group and I felt like I was taking forever. Though I did take almost a week off to play it. :-D

Yea I'll definitely only be leveling my Paladin to begin with. He'll be my focus until the guild has settled back into raiding (I'm the MT) and I've got my Path of Titans all sorted.

Also, I have no intention of buying 3-5 retail copies of Cata. Like always, I'll wait for the online uprade.

Wow... you talk about being bored of the same old grind, yet you want to play Star Wars? Seriously?

Talk about a redundant piece of shit game. LIGHTSABERS! BOUNTY HUNTERS! Oh wait. We already had 50+ other games that were _exactly_ that.

Sorry.. don't mean to sound like a total ass, but you're dumping a game for a universe that is so over-hyped and over sold its horrible.

But sometimes all people want to do is cut someone up with a lightsaber or force grip someone off a ledge and watch them fall to their death :D

I'm moderately excited for the expansion. Can't really get too in to it without details. Personally, I'm hoping for a whole bunch of ten-man tank-n-spanks and the removal of the week lock out. But we'll see how it goes.

I dont think it matters what MMO you play, you'll always get burned out at some point. Happened to me with EQ1 more than once, EQ2 and WoW. Throughout it all, WoW is the one I've always come back to.

I'm kind of love-hate with Cataclysm. I like the new races, new race/class combos, and the simplifying of gear and stats. I dont like the fact that the old world is getting permanently changed forever. I was kind of hoping it would be phased and you could still visit the original old world via Caverns of Time, but that wont be the case. Oh well.

I'm sure it will be entertaining. I just feels like its going to be rushed and incomplete. Only time will tell.

I'd be burnt too if I viewed new content, new races, new means of advancement, whatever else as nothing but a roadblock between me and gear. I'm always for anything that means the game is still evolving because I don't play MMOs to reach the "end" and "win" at the gear slot machines. I plays RPGs for that.

If "same old" means "stuff we've seen before in other games", then WoW failed right out of the starting gate. SWORDS! SORCERY! MONSTERS! It doesn't make for a very tidy standard, and I think content is somewhat beside the point when it comes to burn-out.

WoW's particular grind, not its content, is the thing we're getting bored with: blast through 1-60, buy fast land mount, blast through 61-70, buy fast flying mount, level 71-80, do heroics, start new team. Meh. I don't mean any criticism by observing that it's getting boring, because after this many years, we SHOULD be getting bored with the same ol' game and it's a testament to the excitement of multiboxing that many of us haven't. Another MMO, Star Wars included, might/should offer a different path than what we've all done before. If it's identical to WoW's, then the different content might keep us a *little interested for a *little while because shininess attracts the eye, but I still think it's incidental and not what keeps you in your chair at 2am for just one more level.

considering it is Korean made

Not sure what this is meant to say, but Korean game developers don't cater to the North American market, they cater to the Asian market, and that is why Lineage II was so popular as well as Aion.

Hehe there's more to star wars than just the movies. It has a ton of lore from book's and stuff to. SWG failed on so many accounts it's just retarded. IF they do it right star wars has a good chance at being successful but I'm betting they don't. I imagine the new star wars will be fun for a single box first time threw though. After that hearing everyone talk over and over and ,well you get the point, will get old pretty fast. AoC was great the first 20 level's due to the way the game played. After 20 though it was rather bland. After lvl'n my fifth guy to 20 in AoC even the first 20 wasn't that great.

As far as the WoW expansion goes I'm definately for something new. WoTLK got old fairly fast. I rerolled a new team recently and put them on a server where I couldnt boost or give them cash and I'm actually enjoying it. I think when the expansion comes out will try it one more time like that. I think I might enjoy it who know's though might get bored by 40 and say heck with it.

No. Sword != Lightsaber. I just read something they other day that the new class annouced was "Sith". Really? "dark jedi" just wasn't "dark" enough? Now they're cashing in on the Sith thing? When you log into the game your'e going to have a shit ton of jedi/sith and not much else.

When you fire up the new Star Wars game - I bet you will hear the same damn intro song you heard back in 1977. Expanding on a universe is one thing. Recycling it for 32 years is another.

I guess you could argue "its withstood the test of time". But man.. get over it already.

I lost all respect for lucas arts when they dumped EVERY game in their portfolio that didn't have "star wars" in the title to produce more star wars games.

Sounds like you have never played a BioWare game before. Also, ragging on him for liking the star wars universe is pretty lame when here we are playing a game with fantasy even more played out in the Tolkien themed orc, dwarves, elves, magic bullshit. Cashing in on jedi/sith/bounty hunter/trooper/medic/ect, or cashing in on the generic mage/warrior/priest/ect. Take your pick, i'm sure the latter is sooooooooo different and original to you.

KotOR mmo is looking absolutely amazing imo.

I also have no problem with Lucas Arts sticking to Star Wars games. I'm not interested in a Lucas Arts made football game, ect. I don't want starbucks making my lasagna either thank you very much.

Not entirely true. They released a remade version of Monkey Island 1 a couple of months ago.

The only good games that ever have come from Lucas Arts were the old point-and-click adventure games from the 90's. Monkey Island, Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle. Good stuff.

I can't wait for Cataclysm. Tho, I'm kinda upset as how they're getting rid of all the old world content and redoing. I've always been Alliance, and now that I'm multiboxing, I'm just now investing some of my time in rolling Horde. I know I've had 4 years or so to explore everything, but not if you don't have the kind of time and happen to play multiple toons. I'm also a big Star Wars fan and can't wait for the new mmo coming out. I may actually put WoW on hold for a while and try that one out. When I finally caved in and started to invest in playing mmos, it was when SoE bought out SWG and how they sank that game into the ground. Instead of wasting my money and time in that game, since everyone was leaving it, I decided to try WoW and have been hooked ever since. I've played most of the Star Wars games and loved most of'em. Some I could've invested that money and time into something better, but still, I can't wait to try this one out. Not sure I'll multibox it, but I know I'll solo it first.

Not excited about buying 5x copies just to regear/level, but unless something better comes along I probably will. Will try Aion and see how that is (although I've tried pretty much every MMO that has come out and other than EQ, Planetside, EVE, and WOW none have stuck).

I'm looking forward to it big time - been playing wow for a few years and I do get bored with instance farming and dailies (which I just dont do anymore lol) - when it gets to max(boredom) I just jump on my lock for some BG fun. Northrend is a bit boring though, although I do like the music in grizzly hills :) and I hate that bloody zoning issue while flying!

Couldn't give a toss about Star Wars but I am pretty excited about the Star Trek and Star Gate MMOs which will be played on maintenance nights only :)

I will still play as long as my wife still plays and I dont think she will quit until they turn off the servers. My only hope for the expansion is that leveling from 80 to 85 is not horrible like Wotlk was 70-80. Looking forward to Rated Bgs and Goblin shamans!

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm more excited about Diablo III.

I look at the new expansion, Aion and the new Star Wars and my reaction is generally "Meh." They feel like the MMO crowd doing what the MMO crowd does. There's a formula and they're banging out more content. The early teasers, the invite to betas and the attempt to build a community pre-launch are also formulaic. I've just been there and done that too many times to get excited.

Unlike the new stuff, the early Diablo III press feels like they have more respect for the game's tradition. They put old silly features like dropping stuff on the ground to trade into the game for that nostalgic rush.

My complaint with WoW and the WoW-wannabes is that they are all seeking market domination by diluting the game into generic fluff. The new "bring the player not the class thing" makes me wonder why we even have classes. My tanks are all pretty much the same, one or two skills separate them, as are all my ranges casters. They have one or two defining skills but the class trees and the ranged dps spam are nearly identical.

What makes me really nervous is that the "A team" left WoW for the next gen-mmo. The "B team" is now running the show. The next expansion has a "B team" feel. Not a lot of innovation, some fan requested stuff, and a lot more formulaic content. 5 more levels of collection quests, kill quests, delivery quests while the "A Team" tries to dream up the next big MMO innovations.

I'll play it. I'll hope they have a couple killer instances and maybe a new killer AV. But my expectations are pretty low.

I've tried the leave-wow-for-something-new thing, including Star Wars Galaxies. That lasted a month before I was trying to find someone to just give away my account to and looking at re-activating my WoW accounts.

Diablo III and StarCraft II are the only near-future PC games that I can see eating a substantial amount of my time. I'm letting others try out Aion first and let me know what their impressions are before I even try toying with the beta. One thing that I don't like it is will be open PvP on all servers even at release. I'm not a fan of random gankings when I'm just on for a little bit trying to get something accomplished.

To restate my concern for any new game I play: content, content, content. Aion looks really nifty and all, but if it doesn't have fun content, I'm not playing it. I don't care how awesome my casting animation and gear looks.

Cataclysm should be interesting both from the advanced storyline and the fact that they are resdesigning the old world quite heavily. The new races will give me something new to play with. I don't really get tired with the grind, as I pace myself and try not to make it feel like work. My only problem is getting into too much of a routine by setting schedules with others for when to help them get something done (daily heroics).

Same here. I've tried many games out both on the PC and Xbox 360 and if the game doesn't have just enough or the right things to keep my attention, I'll put it down and never touch it again. I've even done this when getting half way through some games. I just get to that point in the game and it just totally looses me or my interest.

While I am looking forward to it I am at the same time dreading it.
I really hope that all the new stuff will be top quality, I liked WOTLK when it came out, it was fun somewhat refreshing but still lost its bang at about 74....8 hrs a level for what, all of the same with more gothic graphics?
No ty.
It caused my wife to stop playing especially after getting Server First Enchanter fun but want to see burn out see a 72hr rush to be "The first " on a given server, it caused me to become excessively bored with the game (pre boxing)
I even tried Lotro (sooo wow similiar) and Eve...

As to the question what are we looking for? Well I for one am looking for the thing I found by multiboxing...Solo capability, no I don't mean I go solo Hogger because I massively overpower him, and no I don't mean grind and solo dailies. I mean SOLO I miss the games like Legends Of Kesmai (Islands of Kesmai as well) off Gamestorm, even Asheron's Call was good despite it's inhereint terribleness. I shouldn't have to get 4 other accounts to supplement my want to see 2/3 of the game. If I could find something 1/2 as decent I would replace WoW quickly. I remember EQ2 and had the same problem. I do enjoy boxing, but it now feels as if it is something that I HAVE to do in order to solo/progress.

But other that the xpac does look interesting and I will buy it until someone proves they have a "superior" game and not just a clone with different names/graphics. I agree with the poster a couple pages back, alot of formula to the games lately.

the expansion coming is one of the reason I let my subs lapse... why bother gearing my level 80s when I'll get 85 blues that are better (I assume - or 85 wellfare pvp epics) - this being said I do look forward to the new 1-60 quests in the remodeled, flyable old world

in the meantime aion is keeping me busy (I don't know how long that will last though)

Every game goes in cycles, doesn't matter what we play.

For a while the game is new and exciting.
After a while, we have had too much and its the same thing over and over.
The healthy solution is to take breaks when you need them.
That can mean another game, or no game and a break from the computer perhaps.

Pretty much over the summer, I do seasonal work, and am online maybe once every two or three weeks.
That has managed to keep Warcraft (and Everquest before it) much more enjoyable.

You can look at any game as the same thing over and over.
Most of the games have similar objectives... level up... gear up...
In wow there are two gearing up progressions and two factions.
You could theoretically play an alliance PvP composition and a radically different horde PvP composition.
You could also do a PvE for each faction.
Predominantly casters vs mostly melee or a mixed team are other options to keep it mixed up.
Doesn't have to even be wow specific, going with different options in the game of choice will help keep it fresh.

I'm really looking forward to Diabo III and Starcraft II.
I'm still playing warcraft, and hope to have two more teams (Druids @60th and Warlocks not yet made) join my existing teams at 80th (Pally/Shammies @80th and a mixed team in the upper 70's).
Either D3 or SC2 will be a welcome break from WoW.
Dungeons and Dragons every Saturday Fall-Spring (pencil and paper) is another gaming diversion from wow.
Mix it up.. )
