Ran AV from 70 to 80, I'll ding Monday. I would like to start running instances, but I'm wearing quest greens from my mid 60s!!

Any suggestions?

AFK 10 arena games, use arena points + honor from running AV all week to start buying deadly pieces.
Run WG for marks, collect legs, chest, trinket, bracers, ring
Run gear quest lines in icecrown/storm peaks

Don't you have to win an arena to get initial points? If I went AFK for every match, I would have zero across the board, wouldn't I?

you still get arena points even if you loose all your matches.

you should probably not do 80 bracket AV in 60s greens though, it's not fair to your team mates who have to carry you - have somewhat decent gear and participate; protect or take towers/bunkers, etc...

AFK 10 arena games, use arena points + honor from running AV all week to start buying deadly piecesall of the gear that you buy with arena points, requires a rating. I was told that if you never win a game, you'll never get beyond a ZERO rating, meaning doing arena is POINTLESS (because you'll never be able to use what you buy). Still haven't been able to get anyone who's actually done arena to confirm this.

You don't need points for Deadly.. Only for Furious/Relentless :)

You don't need points for Deadly.. Only for Furious/Relentless right - but correct me if i'm wrong, but there's NO point in losing 10 games a week like another thread suggested simply to get arena points to buy gear cheaper. You won't get the required rating to wear the gear you buy. And all gear that you buy arena points requires a rating.

I'm really quite surprised that everyone seems to think that by losing 10 games/week you'll magically get to 1500 rating - you have to WIN ... lots ...

I would so love to be wrong on this ...

sorry if I'm slow - are you saying I will get points if I never, ever, ever win an arena game and my score is ZERO?

Thanks

Well you could actually try? Learn, practice and get some experience, I mean if you going in to just lose anyway, why not try to win? You might surprise yourself. You dont start losing rating until 1100? Correct if I am wrong please. So just play you have nothing to lose up to 1100.

To the question above me. Yes even if you go 0-10 this week and have a 0 rating you will still earn 344 points for the week. You earn the same amount that a 1500 rating 5v5 would earn up to that rating it obliviously goes up higher once you pass 1500.

You get the same points at 0 that you do at 1500. Deadly gear requires no rating, and furious set gear requires fairly low rating. You can also turn in a week's worth of arena points (344) for 3.44 honor tokens worth 2k honor each - if for some reason you already have all the set gear. You don't even have to join the arena queue when it pops to get credit, just join and let it timeout (if you don't want to provide entertainment to the other team).

Thanks for all the replies. I would like to also run dungeons, heroics eventually. Are there any dungeons, quests, anything in your experience to gear up 4 shaman relatively quickly?

yes most pieces req. points, but what happens when u finally get all the BG gear, and u move to arenas.. get to 1500 and ur stuck cuz u cant buy anything... if u did ur arenas for the 2 months while u were gearing up u could buy some pieces of gear

If you buy the boe level 78 stuff it'll be good enough for heroic dps. Might need to buy something a little more fancy for your tank depending on the class. You probably won't be able to do the harder ones right away, but Gundrak and UK should be fairly straightforward with minimal gear.

If anyone is interested, here's what I'm going for:

Frost Climber's Hatchet
Broodmother's Protector
Chestguard of Unwanted Success
Scaled Boots of Fallen Hope
Gauntlets of the Windreacher
Wooly Cowl
Ceremonial Pike Leggings
Giant Champion's Spaulders
Argent Girdle
Wristguards of the Remorseful

Cloak will be the S7 cloak with honor, along with rings.

What team do you have? Do you focus PvE or PvP? Bout?
If you have a tank, healer/dps team, you could run heroics until you gather gear from that. It's hard in the start, but it goes a lot faster when u learn the diffrent heroics with ur team..I would recommend to start farming Culling of Stratholme, Gundrak and maybe Nexus. Of course, you should do others to, but these are the one's i would do first in the day if i newly dinged.

Gear recommendation would be a lot easier, if you told me what team you have, and if you mainly go for PvE/PvP or bout.

4 Ele Shaman, just added em to my sig. Pvp mainly, but I would like to gear up for pve as well. Figure, the heroics drop the emblems and I can get arena gear from emblems.

Then i would find myself a mate, or even several tank-mates. Run heroics, learn the curves on how to do em really fast and gear up trough heroics for deadly gear, and offset pieces by honor.

Previous poster just answered that, the gear does not require rating. Using arena points makes it cost less honor and also it does not require rating.

Unless you are completely geared out...you should always do your 10 games a week. Lets say you need the Deadly gloves. Well you can buy them with full honor points(i think they are 38,000), or buy them for like 7,200 honor and 400 arena points WITH NO RATING.

Gear is ALOT easier to get if you have some arena points to put down. Now, If you are trying for the Furious slots(head, chest, hands, legs)....then you will need rating
