View Full Version : Losing target after fear bomb

The strangest thing happens in HoL after a fear bomb goes off my tank has a mob targeted but /assist seems to stop working. I have to select a different target in order for my guys to find a target again.
I am looking at some of the leaderless setups as opposed to /assist but I was wandering if this solves the lost target problem.
I actually remember a thread about this a few months ago but my search-fu is pretty weak today.
Anyone else have this problem and no how to avoid it?
Can anyone find the other thread on it?
Thanks.

After disorients or fear bombs sometimes you will have to clear target on the tank and make them assist you again. I dont know why, but something inherent with the game requires it.
edit: to be more clear,
1. clear target on leader
2. retarget
3. make slaves assist
that will fix it and it is the only known fix that I have found.

So I currently have a spam on my slaves it is like.
/assist <tank name>
/use 13
/use 14
/cast Cool Spell
/cast Another Cool spell
if I added
/cleartarget before the /assist then it should be able to auto recover after a fear bomb?
I guess the question still remains do the leaderless macros recover automatically after fear bombs?
I am going to test one tonight see if it works or not.

That I dont know, it might rest in the tank retargetting, but I have never tested it. Your idea is not without merit and I would like to hear the results!

I am going to be in Halls of Lightning later I am going to try /clear target as well as leaderless setups. I will post the results. Right now it is play with wife and newborn time. :)

I use /target instead of /assist and have targettarget in my macros, I don't experience this problem with fear bombs, however I am also constantly reaquiring the target in combat.
You can, use /targetlastenemy [dead, combat][noharm, combat] in spell macros to automatically retarget after losing a target. It will check and see if your target has died, and target the previously selected enemy, this is good for kill order too. Or if you have nothing selected that is a valid target for the spell, it will target the last enemy you had targeted.
The kill order adavntage---target the second guy you want to kill, then target the first guy you want to kill. Have followers assist, and burn target down, once target dies, you will target the first guy you picked earlier, and slaves will help you kill that target.
Disadvantage---fears will switch the first and second target, they will still be the first 2 to die, but if this is too much of a problem for you remove the [dead, combat] section and it shouldn't have that effect any longer.

Wow, too funny.
I was just dealing with this yesterday and clearing the target is required. (I haven't tested my F keys for targeting party members.) Assist simply won't work until you do it.
Pain in the arse.

I put a /cleartarget at the end of the first /click macro for the dps. After it calls the dps actions it will clear the target. It happens so fast I don't even see the target frame pop up on the slaves.
When I got the fear bomb in HoL the slaves kept on dpsing and I didn't clear the tank target at all.

This is what I have now and it works perfeclty.
/cleartarget
/assist <tank name>
/use <insert color here> Focusing Lens
What this does is after a fear bomb all my guys clear their target, reassist the tank, and then turn back in the direction of the mob.
So with one push I do a complete recovery. Works like a charm in HoS, ToC etc etc probably not bad for pvp either.

I need to get me some focusing lens. lol
Edit: Oh hell. It is a JC item. I have a 450 JC. I really need to pay attention to my professions a little more.
