I hope someone can help me here. I uninstalled WoW and reinstalled it straight from DVDs. This is the error message I get after doing WOTLK disc.

The file "Data\esMX\base-esMX.MPQ" could not be found. If this problem persists, you may be able to solve it by uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. If you are unable to correct this problem, please contact Blizzard Technical Support.

WTF. I googled it and I am shocked that I dont see it anywhere. Can anyone help? I posted a message on the service forums as well. :(

Google the equivalent English Client error.

Data\enUS\base-enUS.MPQ

Sometimes a disc read error can cause problems. If you have room on a hard drive, copy the dvd/cd's to the same directory (one for each expansion) and install from there.

There was another issue with vanilla wow and installing on a machine with lots of ram. That solution was to reduce the ram to 1gb or less for the install.

Hope this helps.

You could download the client from here http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/downloads/other-downloads.html

Ok I found that a WHOLE directory was missing from install. So I copied it over from my WoW backup, just to see what happened. Well it downloaded 3.2 and installed it, but now I get BSOD from my video card when I run one window of WoW. This is really frustrating. When I get home from work I will try a whole new install. I wonder if this has anything to do with my new SSD that I bought and installed.

Not trying to call you slow or anything, but you didn't mention trying to run the repair.exe. (it's found in the WoW folder) This little program has helped me on more than one occasion, when i was getting the same problems you are having. It will check for all the files and DL a patch type file with everything that is missing or not correct.

Another thing that helped me was setting the directory for it to something other than the default during the installation process then just renaming it to whatever after i got it all working.

Ya thats the first thing I try everytime. Hilarious that it missed 1.2GB of missing info... wtf.

Ya know it's interesting that it's asking me for what I believe is the Mexican version when I chose "english" during install.

One more thing sorry. This all started when I installed that OCZ Agility 120GB SSD. I transferred my Data folder to it and symlinked it from my original folders on the Raptor drives. Well I started getting weird crashes about 2 days later (can't find dwarf chair model and wowerror.exe would crash, wtf)

So I'm thinking there is something wrong with my Agility drive. I did this recent reinstall on the SSD, maybe I should go back to the raptor drives with the next fresh install?

Aww god OS reinstall? You be crazy mon. I did do a wow install and that's where Im stuck now. I uninstalled it and when I reinstalled it crashes ensued. These are from new DVDs too, facking crap they put out these days...

To do that do I just insert the Windows DVD and then tell it to install? Or is there more to it than that?

After reinstalling so often with hardware changes, and just window house keeping I have a process in place that stores and backups all critical files to external storage devices or NAS.

I have my robform password file (encrypted) and favorites on dropbox so I never have to worry about losing it. Outlooks PST, images, videos are all stored on a 5TB server in the other room and backed up to a NAS.

When I do have to reinstall a new OS it takes me very little time to get back up and running. So for me it is a simple thing to do just restore to a ghost image of my OS but I know for most folks it can become a monumental task. So I understand your hesitation.

It seems a little crazy to be reinstalling an OS on a computer I bought in February. Im going to try reinstalling to the raptors and see if I can get that up and running. I was also told to update my graphics drivers by the tech forum, I'll see if that helps.

I would certainly exhaust all other possibilities. I have it easy like I said earlier I can pop in a ghost image go watch some TV come back and I am up and running.

Crazy? I look forward to reinstalls! I do mine (all five!) like once a quarter. Windows by design destroys itself over time (fuck you very much Mr. Registry). So a fresh install is a good way to correct these types of issues.
Wow Once a quarter as in 4 times a year on 5 machines? I used to do it twice a year on one machine and dreaded it until I got to lazy and did it only once every year and if I stalled it was more like 1.5 if I could help it.

But you are right it's extremely easy, it's NOT that time consuming just requires sitting down and focusing on it and not on other things like playing WoW or such. With Drivers on a USB Drive and WoW installs on a USB Device as well to prevent problems it is extremely easy and great maintanence.

Fur is right though total time spent tinkering on a problem Vs Reload of OS....

why would you people need to reinstall so often? my windows machines run very nicely for at least 2.5 - 3 years on average before i ever need to mess with them. maybe you just use them harder than i do i guess.

i would definitely just try a fresh install of wow and maybe even just use the downloader. its what i always use for new wow installs now.

I use to reinstall every 4 months or so. Vista despite its problems was pretty good I went a very long time well over a year. Win7 I do not see me reinstalling for any reason. All favorites, emails, documents, photo's, music and videos are on network drives so even if I did reinstall it would be super easy.

Same here, though the only thing I ever install is games these days once I get the office software installed. Used to have to redo things every 6 months when I was a downloads junkie. I also don't run those "system cleaner/reg cleaner" utilities any more--I think that has more to do with it than anything. My current gaming machine was installed about 18 months ago and I've yet to have a BSOD or any notable performance loss. My alt gaming rig has the same image (XPSP1, plus updates obviously) I installed when I got my last job, which was October 2005 and it's still the one I use for my email and 4 alt WoWs (just upgraded motherboard, RAM and CPU).

On the other hand, a buddy of mine that works in IT and is a software/social networking junkie has to reinstall every 4 months or so. All in how you use it.

them downloads are dangerous... but yeah i have my defragger setup for weekly automatic runs and ive never used a reg cleaner those things are just so fishy to me.

but anyways multibocks did you fix your problem?
