If you're using an addon that spams (or intelligently refollows) autofollow then you may have run into the same problem as me where your character gets stuck Autorunning (not autofollowing) when you try to interrupt the motion and begin to use a spell with casting time. Obviously you can using a left or right turn button to break autofollow and you can use the autorun command.
What I need is a command that can be spammed that will break an autorun (much like a left or right turn breaks autofollow) and not interrupt casting ie not cause motion.
Note: The process of getting stuck in autorun does not involve accidentally hitting the autorun button (it is unbound). I believe autorun is a partial component to both autofollow and autointeract both which apparently can be deactivated partially (and improperly) resulting in the autorun component being left on and your guys wandering off into oblivion.

Would like to know this as well.. with follow strobing just hitting an arrow key doesn't work

Autorun is a toggle, not two seperate commands, so you won't have a spammable means of stopping autorun that does not cause movement. You can try setting up a seperate Autorun keybind if it's just 1 that you need to deal with, otherwise as far as I can tell, you're stuck with using forward/backward movement to break AF/AR.
I have this issue with my melee toon when she's running to interact with a target via melee and cast Stormstrike {I don't use follow strobing} and I simply have her follow me again. Melee interact from there will break autofollow.

I use follow strobe ('intelligent' refollow), and I found it to be quite the hassle to park my characters every time I had to make a pull with pbaoe mobs or for fights where I need to move the tank around but keep casters stationary.
I have yet to find a good solution, but the best I have so far is this:
Button4 on my mouse is bound to a key on my main which executes a macro with "/jamba-follow strobeoff all" to stop the strobing. Same button is bound to 'turn right' on my slaves, which breaks the in-game follow.
The upshot is that I can park my toons (killing both strobe and normal follow) with a quick tap of a mousebutton. The downshot is that it takes up binds, and rotates my slaves slightly. It is also not 100% reliable depending on latency, making double-taps necessary, and the jamba-group monitor doesn't seem to indicate if I have successfully broken follow.
If there is an addon, a macro function, script api or keybind I can make to simply break normal game follow without movement, I should much like to know.

Coyote, that's essentially what I'm doing too but not with Jamba - it works great... until that odd time when i get stuck in autorun
Khatovar - if only there was an /autorun off
Ah well =) thanks for the confirmation of what I suspected
