Aion US: SW boxable or not ?

So is AION US boxable or not ? (using keyclone, hkn, etc...)

A) 2 accounts on 1 machine (ie local bradcasting to 2 windows) ?

B) 2 accounts on 2 machines (maybe easier if it's not possible to launch 2 game instances on 1 comp ?) ?

I read about gameguard but it's not clear if there is a legit/ok workaround (or if it affects B) as well as A) )

If it has Gameguard you won't even be able to run your Media player and play it at the same time. I dealt with Game Guard in L2 and stopped playing when it stopped the following.

1. Windows Media Player from working while running the game
2. My n52 would no longer work
3. My logitech keyboard would no longer work

I was running two accounts and when it was clear these items would no longer work I voted with my wallet and left the game. Mainly because I don't pay to play games that cripple parts of my computer.

Since Aion is going to have GG I won't go anywhere near it.

I thought about giving Aion a try, but GG is definitely a deal breaker.

As for Aion, Gameguard is crapola and I really can't endorse disabling it to get the game to work, but if you do turn it off then you can multibox on the same pc via hardware. I tested keyclone and it worked fine.

Multiple pc's even with gameguard turned off, and only using synergy to bounce between pc's, it said an illegal program was running and closed the game.

When I demanded a full refund for the pre-order and listed GG as my reason they didn't dispute it for a second. It's probably the #1 reason for refunds currently.

I don't understand why you would need GG in a pvp mmorpg like Aion, wow doesn't have anything like that and other than speed hacks i've seen people banned for, i'm not sure i've ever seen another hack.

These are the same people that brought us the grind fest that was L1 and L2. The leveling was so bad people wrote bots and everyone just leveled AFK. You could easily play 4 to 6 hours at higher levels and get like 10% of a level. GG was supposed to help stop all of that and NCSoft has put it on every game since then.

GG will disable pretty much any logitech item that can macro, any type of gamer keypad like the N52 etc etc

Again I vote with my wallet there is no way I will pay for a game that cripples part of my system.

Hmm, I use a G19 keyboard AND a g13 gamepad in aion both in china and in the Aion closed beta and never had a problem. You just have to run the logitech software as an administrator and it works fine. Same for ventrillo.

someone on aionsource irc chat said there is a /follow in AION - I haven't personally verified it works or seen it documented anywhere yet though...

beside rants on why aion is horrible etc... anyone actually has some idea on how to box it ?

/follow works as does /target soandso and /assist

all of these commands can be set up in macros from WITHIN the game.

You can set up in game macros to heal or attack or even loot for that matter. The macro system is actually pretty powerful in Aion.

The PROBLEM is that you cant activate a macro with a macro.

Im assuming that this is possible and probably even legal. The patch notes for open beta says that the ability to log on to more than one client on a singe pc has been enabled.

I have been dual boxing aion on a single pc in both china and in the NA betas with no problems. Only thing I do is set one client to be semi-full screen on one monitor and the alt client to be windowed on the 2nd monitor. Move my mouse cursor between them based on what I need to do and essentialy use macros to control the alt (In game macros not the out of game ones)

What are your pc specs to run both on the same pc...and is it fun/advantagous to box in aion or should i just go with one account?

Intel q9650 8gb ram and a GTX 280

game runs both clients at max settings flawlessly. Aion is very low resource hog IMO and looks gorgeous.

As for dual boxing.

I find it very helpful to have 2 toons but I have my doubts if it will be worth it end game for pvp. PVE on the other hand it will be priceless.

Just using the in game macros and a g13 gamepad from logitech and running the two clients windowed is easy to do without using any 3rd party apps. The window that does NOT have your mouse focus is choppy but other then that its fine.

If you set up focus follows mouse cursor in your control panel "accesability options" it helps make it even easier.

I haven't been able to reproduce it/make it work again since but sometime yesterday after a number of attempts at changing the order in which I start HKN and the 2 AION clients, and playing with mouse broadcast I had key and mouse broadcasting working - sadly I haven't been able to achieve it since - it seems by default keys and mouse don't actually go/reach the windows but somehow it can in some cases (I was trying to reproduce it today, making the guess that maybe it has to do with quitting only 1 of the clients and that was somehow disabling GG or something like that)

anyway I think there is hope - would one of the SW box author want to try to make it work (you can download the beta client for free and get to the login screen and try to get broadcasting to work there)

I know I have been unsuccesful in getting keyclone to work at all with Aion. it sees the aion clients running but it just wont broadcast to them unless I am doing something wrong. I have never used keyclone before Aion so I cant be sure that I am not doing something wrong.

In the meantime I'm boxing the old way : 2 computers, 2 mouse, 2 keyboards - it's quite fun (come watch my stream if you're curious)

I have a macro for the healer that does 1 smile cast and 1 heal and follow and that works pretty good (only issue is the examples macro they give you don't actually work; in particular assist doesn't work)
