Hey everyone, OK, so I am kind of a noob at quad-boxing leveling. I am approaching level 18 with my Quad Elemental Shammys. I was wondering for leveling Will I be able to quadbox deadmines at any level that worthwhile experience is still gained from it? What can I expect for a configuration like this? Is the missing 5th and lack of group balance too much of a hinderance.

Thanks all for a great community with a wealth of knowledge.

The missing 5th is significant but not really a big deal until you hit outland. The old world instances are all pretty much a pushover until you hit Blackrock Spire. You will have some issues with elementals, such as Maraudon. Princess is a huge PITA with a shammy caster group. Not such a big deal with all enhancement shams but still a problem.

As for whether it would be efficient XP for you, that all depends on what you find boring. For me, I'd rather quest than grind instances. For some, they prefer to grind instances instead of quest. All up to you. I'd say they'll both be pretty similar once you get your macros and all that set up properly.

I thought back in BC there was at least one person clearing heroics with 4 shaman only. Granted they had to be geared more than 5 shaman groups.

I would suggest you pick up a 5th account. Especially if you want to do PVE stuff and not just PVP stuff. Low level stuff probably isn't going to be hard. Once you try northrend stuff you will be frusttrated you don't have a 5th account. I leveled 4 shaman and a mage to 80. I think I only cleared one instance in the whole time by myself. And that was at level 70 with 5 super geared shaman going into UK. Right now I am working on leveling a paladin so I can go back and do all the instances that I missed.

I agree with what's being said here.
With 4 toons you might be able to clear some northrend instances, but you'll be needing much better gear to compensate.
I was having much troubles with instances with 4 toons, when i added another dps i was able to do so much more.
Since you're around level 18, leveling another toon to the same level won't take much time imho...

OK cool, thanks everyone for the feedback it helps. I am not too concerned with endgame, I have 4 80s now (Mage, Lock, Priest, DK) so I could at a later point move one of those to a 5th account to clear. Level 80 is so far away of a goal for me right now with RL things and rolling the lock as my main in an ulduar raiding guild. I have other toons scattered at different levels as well, so I do have options if I decide to expand to a 5th account. This will probally require a hardware upgrade as well which is another reason I am holding off for the time being.

I will be happy if I can get to the outlands with instances and quests. From the responses posted here, this should be doable.

Thanks All.

There are quite a few 3 man groups doing just fine in vanilla wow instances, and they are not out leveling or over gearing the zone either. Its just a product of much more powerful spells and talents vs. un-updated content. Turn one of your shaman into an enhancement tank and another into a healer and you should be fine.
