Hey guys,
I'm curious if anyone that made the jump recently could give me their experience on this subject? Is it a noticeable difference? At the moment I'm getting anywhere between 30fps and 60fps(maxed) on my main screen with everything on ultra, and I was wondering if I could smooth that out somewards by adding a bit more ram..

Currently I'm boxing 5 accounts on a i7 920, OCed to 3.6ghz, geforce 295, 6gb ram corsair dominator pc12800 and running windows and wow on a raid1 setup of 2x 64gb OCZ vertex SSDs.

If you get 30 to 60 fps on your main window, my advice is : Don't change anything!

For the rest, the memory usage on my Mac Pro never got to 6GB while five-boxing Wow, so I doubt more is necessary. I have to specify that NOTHING is running on that Windows system appart from Wow when I'm playing. This might be slightly different with a typical Windows user running their email client, web browser, etc ...

Do you currently have 6x1 or 3x2? If 3x2 might as well upgrade. If 6x1 then screw it, you're getting great performance and you might as well wait for 6x4 assuming your motherboard can handle it.

Appriciate the comments so far guys. Fef I think you're on to something, I'll try and kill the tasks I'm not using, see if that helps any.

Owl what kind of performance are you getting? Your setup seem very similar to mine, so I'm a bit curious :)

What SSD did you go with?

I'd say about 30 FPS in Dalaran, up to 90 on main depending on area, but mostly around 60 (big guesses here). Slaves are set to 15 max. I have a cheapo RiData SSD and it works like a charm. Dalaran, WG, all load in less than 3 seconds on all 5 clients.

I'm running an i7 920, 12GGB 1600 RAM, 4850, 30GB OCZ SSD (dedicated for wow). I currently have Firefox (18 tabs open), ISboxer, and 5x wow open and am sitting at 5.31GB of used memory. If I add photoshop, dreamweaver, multiple explorer windows and a few other apps, i run around 8.5GB. I started with 6 and was getting good performance, but added another 6 so I could run more in addition to wow.

I would upgrade to 12GB. With 6GB I noticed in Dalaran that I can hit 90-95% RAM useage and when I upgraded to 12GB I immediately noticed the difference in Dalaran. My HDDs no longer go crazy the whole time Im in Dalaran.

Aye, when I was still playing the biggest difference I noticed was while in dalaran, and while trying to watch a movie/multibox/do other things at the same time. My system became snappier and more responsive.
