View Full Version : How's DK tanks nowadays (3.2)?

I saw a lot of QQ in WoW forums about 3.2 tanking nerfs and uncontrollable threat control. Though in Elistjerks I saw a lot of DK tanks converting to Blood spec, 560+ DEfs and 30+k HP (are we saying farewell to Ebon Plaguebringer?) . I have one team @ 60 that has a Tauren DK tank and I'm wondering if I have to push through with it or just replace it with a Druid tank.

I would like to hear an update especially those who has a DK+4shaman setup if they are still progressing in heroics and what problems are they encountering right now after 3.2 patch

Thanks

I use to be a hybrid blood/unholy. im trying out 2h frost spec at the moment and i love it.. ^^
its more simple actually now then before in my opinion.. but then again im no pro.. usually run with my pala so.

its almost like having 5dps when running with 4 shamans.. as i dont play with dedicated healer on most hc's.

I run an unholy/blood dk for ebon plaguebringer with my dk/4 shaman group and I've honestly not had any problems. I haven't really noticed too much of a change from before the patch besides a slight health decrease. But after a few upgrades from ToC and badge rewards, my dks's health is quite a bit higher then before :P

Cleared majority of the heroics and the ones I haven't is mostly due to being lazy and not feeling like taking the time, :P not because I don't think my tank isn't up for it. I do run 1 shaman as dual spec resto for harder fights, so I don't run 4 dps like others do which could make a difference.

I have thought about trying frost out, I've heard its alot of fun..but hard to give up ebon plagebringer..lol

IMO, it's about like paladin tanks were back in 2.4. They did fine as long as you were def capped and well geared. Until then, they were iffy at best. My buddy tanks for me occasionally in his 520def, basic dungeon blues and he's so much squishier than my pally that it's painful.

Dks in basic level 78 blue starter gear are really squishy compare to similar geared pali s.

At this point I've been using my dk as dps primarily I'm going to respec and try tanking again with em this weekend.

Same thing as the rest are saying, it's no harder to keep up my Unholy DK tank than before, but I miss the pre-patch 1.5k hp as a matter of pride. The thing I'm missing most from before the patch is Unholy blight, as it was a great rune-power dump for some free aoe threat.

Good to know that. After my Magtheridon team reach 80, I can continue my DK+4Shaman plan in Kil'Jaeden - US because I wanna join my co worker raids in IRON Guild. I just hope that Fursphere and the rest of Legion of Boom - Alliance boxers will not rape me.

Not being able to use IBF on every pull and the HP loss do hurt at lower gear levels, but even if you can only manage the easiest heroics the epics will come rollin on in in short order. For heroics anyway DKs are fine, overall DK tanks have gone from AWESOME OH MY GOD, to OH GOD
