Slashdot: We have heard a lot about how StarCraft II is going to integrate with Battle.net, and a little about what World of Warcraft is going to do. Is there more coming?
J. Allen Brack: Sure. Battle.net is going to be the way that all players log into Blizzard games in the future. We have optional Battle.net conversion right now, but that will be mandatory at some point in the not-too-distant future. Once we have that integration, we'll layer the Battle.net features on top of World of Warcraft. We're not talking about changing the way that Guilds or Friend Lists work for Battle.net; it's more of just adding a layer of Battle.net features and community features on top of the existing game.

So when's Rob going to put in sub account selection for keyclone? :p

He said in the next build - he had some other work project going on I believe and this was next on his list.

At least thats the impression I got on IRC.

Personally I *LOVE* the Battle.Net Accounts. The only thing I hate is the 30 day restriction when you merge accounts - but I guess its there to protect you if you get hacked. :P

If you run your WoW folders from different directories, you don't have to select which account to log into. You can set it to remember what account you want to use. :D

I'm not aware of this. When Mountain-Dew had those battle-bot adds goin, this was when I converted my accounts over to b.net. Got'em all linked and logged into the game right after and got my bots on all my toons across all 4 accounts. Just created new toons on a new server months after doing this and they already had the bots waiting for them in the mail, so new toons will get this pet from the start which is cool. I even got the authenticator about 8 months ago too, so that is something I highly recommend everyone get if you haven't already. As far as logging in with Keyclone with a battle.net account, I use my one b.net account for all wow accounts and log in at once. Not really worried about it since I got the authenticator for extra security.

What I mean to say with b.net accounts is when you merge and you want to move characters OUTSIDE of the b.net account (say to another account you own in the same last name) you cant for 30 days.

The reason why I ran into this problem is I have 4x RAF accounts and my main account and my 4x wotlk upgraded accounts. I have a couple of random crappy accounts I also merged in without thinking so I hit the 8 account limit pretty fast on my 'main accounts'

This means my RAF guys cant see WOTLK becuase they are stuck for 30 days on their own b.net account. :( And old style accounts cannot xfer to b.net accounts so I had no choice but ot merge.

Other than this (and really its only boxers that will ever have this problem) I love the way account managment works now and if you are transfer characters inside the same b.net account its pretty much instant.

To fix my problems with remember accounts I just use 1 wow folder and then 4 symlinked copies of it so my account names and which account on that account I want to use are remembered - works well for the moment but patches can sometimes break my symlinks.

I was almost forced to upgrade my accounts to B.Net the last time I tried to to do a character transfer.

The eu server had account management go to the B.net login, and following the manage account link from the wow screen also took me there.

Having said that I have no problems with it at all - and I got the authenticator app on my iphone to lock down those accounts.

I use symlinking for my accounts - so when I start them up with keyclone they all have the releveant account selected from the drop down -and I just type in my password - and then the authenticator code and keyclone replicates it all.

Smooth.

One of the FAQs during the Mt. Dew promotion said they were going to push everyone to battle.net accounts and the promotion was one of the methods to get a jump start on it.

But I like playing WoW out of one folder.

You will still be able to play out of one folder. The only difference would be when you log in and have to select which account in the drop down. The only benefit of having multiple folders or symlinked folders is different config files so that it can remember your previous choices.
Also if you are using IS then you dont have to worry about multiple folders either since I believe it houses it's own config files. Someone can correct me if I am wrong there. Haven't jumped into that yet.

Yes IS has virtual files that remember your login name and subaccount among other things.

I'm currently on the phone with Blizzard Account Admin, on hold for 30 minutes, trying to get my old 4 accounts off of my B.net account. FJDOSAFHJWSDAFsd

You can't get accounts off of Bnet. All you can do is transfer accounts between Bnet accounts. Tell Blizz I said hi!
