Hi folks,
I've been dual boxing for quite a while on different mmos with a great deal of success. On Warcraft here's what I've been doing -
I have 2 seperate computers, 2 monitors. I've been using Input Director to control the 2 boxes with a single kb and mouse. The primary machine has had a 'tank' char on and I control him/her/it in the usual way with kb and mouse. The secondary machine has had the healer/caster char on and I've controled this char with a ZFang numpad next to my keyboard and a range of the usual follow, assist, target macros.

No problems so far.

However, I recently set my heart on doing something a little different. Two death knights with similar or same talent specs. The main issue here clearly, is that there is no 'caster' and I need to get the secondary into melee range to be of real use. So I thought, right some form of keyclone is required, I'll simply have the secondary char mimick everything that the primary char does by having the second machine match all my mouse and kb input from the primary. (the idea being that they would be 'on top of each other' with identical toolbars so when I select a target, they both select it, and when I click a special, they both do that special.

I tried Input Directors 'mirror input' faciltiy, but that was abit of a nightmare with chars wandering off in all directions. So I spent hours reading up the FAQs on here and the wikis etc and installed Octopus. The tutorial was great, got it all setup, but again the chars are wandering in all directions.... am I missing something here?

Maybe my idea of having two chars moving and attacking simultaneously is misguided, but when I try it they keep turning slightly differently and end up apart, so when I go into combat Im no better off than I was before using the follow macro, with the secondary char miles out of range.

Any ideas/advice/namecalling gratefully received.

Thanks

follow is a must i think..
Most ppl just walk through the mob when playing a mele grp. so they are standing like on opposite sides. then all are in range...

the easiest way is to use /follow for general movement, and for combat, use the "interact with target" feature. Just target the mob, press "assist" key on slave, then hit the "interact" button (make sure click to move is checked in mouse settings) then both toons will go right to the mob they have targeted. You can even spam the interact key and they will follow moving mobs (to great hilarity, they will even run through stationary mobs, and run in circles around em. quite funny when 5 boxing cat druids...) Then after combat, hit the follow key again.

As the others here have said, I dont know anybody boxing WoW without using the follow command (they could be out there, I just have never heard of anybody doing it).

/follow.

Live it, love it.

Ah! now that sounds like exactly the thing I'm after...... I must admit that I don't know anything at all about 'click to move'. Unfortunately, I'm on my laptop at the moment, but will investigate as soon as i can. I'm assuming it's like the Lord of the Rings "When in combat, move to target" setting......

Thanks

It's in and out of combat, you can also use it to make your slave talk to questgivers, merchants and other friendly/neutral, interactable NPCs. I was even using it to make my slaves grab wolvar pups for Planning for the Future (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=11960) while my main killed mobs for Let Nothing Go To Waste (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=11958) yesterday.

Thanks folks! Just set it up and tested it all out and that's exactly what I was after!

Percy and Glenys, the Tauren Death Knights, salute you. Now Glenys can stop moaning that Percy is hogging all the action :-)

Cheers
