Mainly explaining the last boss tactics, rest is just tank and spank.
What I do on the last boss is have all my chars stand on top of eachother.. totems out etc.
Start the fight with bloodlust/heroism and unload as much dmg as possible, when you switch into the mind control phase, the moment you go shift there.. cast fire elemental totems.. and cast your thunderstorm knockback.
This together pretty much kills all of the opponents.
Also, wich I find very helpfull, is to make a button with a heal for yourself (like my shams have lesser healing wave on their quickbar)
While fire elemental kills off the spawns, just spam lesser healing wave to stay alive.
Once you get back into the fight, try to do as much dmg again as possible and if your lucky you get him dead with just getting mind controlled once.
Incase you do get another mind control, your fire elementals should still be alive and shift into the mind control together with each of the owner shaman, just to kill the opponents once again ;)
Key to surviving is to tab-nuke, heal yourself, and hope for fire elementals to do the rest xD
happy farming ;)

Is that for 5 shamans or 4 shamans and a tank?

If you dont have shaman you can two man it with your healer and tank. Just kill the other 3 guys in your group and use the tank and healer.

easiest for me is kill of 3 shamans and kill it with just pally/shaman, just attack with 3 in the begging to as much damage as you can, after they die just use one shaman/tank to finish it off, as crazy as it sounds I've been using this method since 3rd or 4th week after xpac came out, its really easy that way.
edit. what pinotnoir said :P

If you do it the way the OP instructed, you will kill him super fast and, if your geared, you will only have one mind control phase! EASY MODE with the fire eles OR magma totems and self healing.

You cant bring out fire elemental before the first phase? Seems like they can help out dpsing him down.

I tried the OP tactic, and it worked out fine. First time i did this boss i nuked, and let 3 die and solohealed with an elemental shaman until he was dead. Bout tactics work fine.
Only problem i had, was that after the first mind control ended, it didnt even go 5 second before the next one came. Dunno if its after a timer, percentage or whatever..

It's percentage based, so if you beat him down below x% and almost hit the next threshold y% he will immediately go into insanity again. Just a weird encounter and I havent beaten it yet as I need to make some better macros. My shaman killed my other shaman within 2 spellcasts. It was over fast.

Just in case anyone else didn't fully understand the "kill some of your party" strategy, the key is to have them die before the first transition.
I must have been really slow witted last night, I thought it meant let them die IN the transition, but that still left all their shadows and I always wiped.
For me I found a nice balance with my pally tank and 2 shammies. I now send in 2 party members to die before I pull the boss.
And in case this will help others, here's how I do the last fight:
Engage the boss, pop Heroism (Blood lust for you horde)
DPS like mad
Transition starts
I hit my Fire Ele button on the shammies
My pally is my main window, and I kill the shadows Ihe has
My shammies self heal as needed while the pally is busy
Once the pally's shadows all die he gets to see 1 of the shammies and that shammies shadows
Now the pally and that shammy kill the shammies adds, with the shammies continuing to self heal as needed
Once those adds are done all 3 party members can now see each other, and they all kill the last shammies adds.
After the last shadow dies the boss re-engages
Repeat until boss dead, there should be 1 more transition phase

I quit trying this boss. It's annoying and my shaman seem to love thunderstorm my dps x 4, add melee + a spell cast and it usually means my shaman are dead. I just dont seem to have good luck on this one.

If you are running lots of shamans + tank, drop nature resist totem and just spam LHW + Water Shield with your shamans. Noone should die, it just takes some time to down this boss.

back your shaman up to a wall so any thunderstoms leave them where they are
drop magma ( or fire elementals ) and hope for the best.
