View Full Version : New Melee Group (Optimizing buffs)

Hi folks,

I'm playing with the idea of a 4x melee team with a separately played healer. I have done the whole 4x shaman thing but all i seem to do now is grind heroic after heroic and they are getting slightly boring now that they are kitted out. (unfortunately my internet connection is not fast enough for raiding (52Kb/s :(). I need something new and exciting.

With the new /click macro's and interact with target i'm hoping melee teams should be something completely new for me the enjoy but also not too hard to do. I've seen the vids of 5 pallys and they seem to do ok but with seals/judgements not stacking anymore (correct me if i'm wrong) it seems that maybe this is wasting a lot of usable buffs.

I have been theorycrafting a completely mixed team with as many melee damage increasing buffs I can get as possible. This has left me with a team as follows: (note i know that certain spells such as rampage and unleashed rage don't stack so i didnt include rampage, the others, as far as i'm aware all stack (again please correct me if i'm wrong!))

Apologies if there is a good way of linking spells with names instead of full text links, i couldnt only get that to work with items.

Not to count other buffs available that do not directly affect melee damage.

I'm likely to go ahead with this regardless, just interested on the opinions of you lot. I just wondered if anyone else has done anything similar? Am I crazy for trying this?

No you are not crazy for trying that. Melee is very gear dependent though, although a break from the usual "turret" style pvp should be fun.

That is my group setup, and i have a 5th (a blood DK).

This looks a lot like a team I am running:

Druid Tank

Ret Pally

Fury Warrior

Shaman Healer

and Frost spec DK.

wich by the way are more easy than using totems, and freeing the shaman to use other totems.

I am currently on a break from WoW, and havent played since they implemented the "interact with target" feature.
So I can only imagine how easy it is to control melee teams nowadays.

That being said, except for the DK, I was using castrandom macro's on all the characters, so i will have to work out new macro's for all of them, when I return to WoW.

As far as experience with this team, I can only say its the one I have the most fun with (have 5 teams).
They made it to level 70 before I took my break, having no problems tearing apart level 70 (nonheroic) instances in blues.
In fact they did Black Morash (spelling) at level 67-68 with no problems (problably becourse mana never is a problem)

So all i can say is go for it, and have fun :D

i havent tried it, but i used to play a lot of dps-warris from vinalla till wotlk. i takes a lot of rage management to do a good job as dd. i would argue warri to be the hardest class to multibox for this reason. in addition to that, fury only provides a minor hp buff.

therefore i think it u should consider a rogue or an hunter for your team (no melee but still physical dd). both can provide more useful buffs/debuffs depending on specc and will dmg rotation will be a lot easier to makro (in other words provide better personal dps on this toon)


*edit* forgot to mention dk... but those do not provide additional buffs to your setup anyways
