Mouth breather?

Ok this is really stupid, but for the life of me I don't get it. What is a Mouth Breather? Simplest definition is one who breathes with their mouth instead of their nose?

Is this supposed to be funny? an insult? What. I've seen that alot lately on the regular forums but I guess I don't get it if it's meant to be an insult or if it's supposed to be funny, in what way is that funny?

Lol.. Well with that kind of picture I can see that as being gross. I guess I don't know too many people or haven't noticed it enough to see it as an insult. Lol but that painted a great picture in my head.

A mouth breather on the internet is someone who is on a VOIP ie. Vent or TS. Who refuses to use push to talk, has the sensitivity set so high that when he breathes through his mouth you can hear it on your end.
