Wait till 75 or above for BG levelling?

I'm having a blast in AV at the moment (level 67) but I'm concerned about stepping up into the next bracket.

So looking for opinions here.

At 71 I'll be going in to the same bracket as level 80's. Given that I'll be running 4 characters at that time and will therefore be 10% of the team (assuming we get 40 players) will I be effective, or should I step out and let higher levels take those spots?

Would it be better for the others in AV if i waited till I was 75+ before BGing again?.

I'd love to BG but this I'm worried this would be more like leeching XP than earning it?

So - What do you think?

I've been doing BG's with my 5x shadow priests since lvl 68 and hit 71 last night. Went straight into AV and was AMAZED at how much MORE xp you get (wish i had numbers). The honor and xp gain in the 71-80 bracket is SO much better. 2-3 hours later, I had a full half a lvl (which beats out northred collection quests).

Don't worry about doing BG's at 71 - there's lots of lowbies in AV. We won 80% of the AV games we played last night with all my priests at 71 - and both sides were full.

You won't be as effective at 71st as you will at 80th.
That's a given.

However, if you feel like being there, there's nothing wrong with being there.
I'm personally going to take my mixed team there, as soon as I boost my mage to 71st.
The team will be 75 Boomkin, 74 Shd Priest, 73 Elem Shaman, 71 Warlock, 71 Mage.
They'll be there as a unit, until the last one hits 80.

In odd world pvp, people have frequently posted upper 60's taking out solo 80's.
Unlike PvE, your spells will land a lot more frequently vs players then they would against mobs.
With five focusing on one target at a time, you're a threat at 71st.
Just don't be too upset, with the AoE or someone killing you fairly easily.
You're low level, so die fast. But there are five of you, so similarly you kill easily too.

As long as you're not AFKing.
Or working weapon skills on the Rams..
You're not leaching Exp's

I suppose I really should give it a try.

At the end of the day blizzard allow level 71's etc in this bracket and I will be trying with all 4/5 of my characters.
Plus I'll steup up through the levels that bit quicker and get to a level where I offer more and more.

I'm actually thinking of adding my warlock to the mix, so that i've got 5.

Kept track of my xp in AV this morning...im 1/4 into 71 to start. After an hour i almost hit 500k xp/hour.....which blew my mind. Now this is with my team winning 95% of the time with all towers down. 2 hours later of joing AV off and on....and I hit 72. Its crazy.

Well and you should not worry about leeching XP since the 80s that are there dont get any XP :)

I've been getting a level per day exclusively in AV ... started at 71 4 days ago - 75 today ... maxed out my honor at 75,000 as I hit 75 so went and bought Deadly Gladiator's Cord of Dominance x5 for my priests and was back up to 30k honor by the end of the night. With a few arena games (will prob spec all 5 priests disc) i should have full deadly pretty quick.

Im getting ready to lvl my 5 locks and 5 druids and 5 shamans in nothing but av i figured that seems like the fastest way to lvl plus ill have all the gear at 80 win win situation. Thank god i have plenty of gold from my main 5 doing dailies. Every two weeks each character can afford an epic mount so a total of 4 months played at 80 on 5 toons is what 40k gold per account enough for repairs flying epic mounts and training and left overs.

Dinged 71 last night, joined up with my 72 shammy and gave the 71-80 bracket a shot.

I had been concerned that I wouldn't be able to do anything useful.

Instead I found I was able to have as much fun as usual. I was surprised at being able to take out 80's (I guess a few 80's were surprised also).

The best strategy was to hover at the back of the big bad 80's on my team and hit what i could.

When we do belinda I don't bother trying to damage her - nearly every spell misses. So i either lesser healing wave the tank or throw chain heals around so I feel like I'm contributing. I pop a blood lust as well which helps everyone.

So I got about half a level in the BG's last night - and there was a lot of tweaking with my setup, configuring my 4th shaman to fit in with the others. So it looks like I'll be living in Alterac valley for the near future. (I'll quest to try and get gear upgrades where possible). It's great to know that this is the worst it will be - every level will improve my damage output and survivability.

So if anyone else is hesitating - don't.

Being a low lvl in AV, you will most likely be flamed from 80s etc for being low lvl and "Leaching" etc ><

However; being however many you box, against 1 lvl 80, you'll still have decent fire power to have a fighting chance, and I (although not boxed) lvl'd 2 chars 71 + in Av, and it's really fun.. So as posted above, if anyone is hesitating.. don't ;)

I developed a thick skin in BG's a long time ago even before I boxed.

I sometimes think that some of the level 80's actually enjoy having the low levels in there. It gives them someone else to blame for any losses.

A typical AV pre start chat would be :

Level 80: "WTB more 80's".
Level 80:"WTF there's no 80's in here"
Level 80:"Actually there are 23"
Level 80:"Anyone under 80 go away and level"
Level 74: "It's quicker XP in AV"
Level 80: "No it isn't - go level"
Level 80:"We are gonna loose" (please note: these morons always seem to spell lose as loose)
Level 73: "Alliance have lower levels too"
.......

I have to laugh - these guys are criticising us for levelling in BG, when a lot of them are just farming honour.
These are the same muppets that start begging people to stop trying and to get a quick loss when things aren't going well.

They never seem to remember how many victories they've had with these low levels in there.
