Newbie LF good Octopus guide + help

Hello :D I recently tried following "http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/index.php/Octopus_Tutorial" However when I get to the part where it says "Click the “X” button to close the Octopus window. If it minimized to a tray icon, right-click the icon and select “Exit” to close Octopus.
Launch Octopus again."

Upon opening Octopus again I find that all my configuring has been wiped.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it but on the front tab of Octopus I have these messages:

[03:38:19][C] Failed to connect with : 7612.
[03:38:49][C] Failed to connect with : 7612.
[03:39:19][C] Failed to connect with : 7612.

Please assist me?

If you're running on Vista, are you running it as admin? It needs to write to the folder it is in to save the config.xml files. ;)
