Was wondering if anyone running 4xshaman with paladin tank has tried respeccing paladin to holy for holy shock dps? I noticed that when I run WG or any BG it would be nice if the paladin could actually help killing stuff, hah. So I have all these WG marks left over with nothing that I want and was thinking maybe I should try holy shock out and see if it improves my killing from range. Any thoughts?

Not on a single pally, but I've tried shockadin builds on my 5x pally group. It's...underwhelming. Tried it in Halls of Lightning the other day. One pack of earthen would eat almost all my mana (not counting Divine Plea). My caster gear on them is about 50/50 INT+CRIT or MP5 gear. I think last time I looked they were somewhere around +1200sp. Not great but I was doing much better with 1300ish sp on my druids without the mana problems and with a LOT more DPS. The shockadin builds I've tried put out about 800dps. Losing crusader strike and divine storm is painful. :P
That's my perspective from pure PVE. Might be worth a look in PVP as the 40 yard range on judgement and 20yd range on shock sound nifty. I've run dailies with them in shockadin setup and they went just about as fast as normal dailies go. Anything with less than 25k health still dies in about 2-3 GCDs. I'd batted the idea around myself but they're so much more squishy than ret pallies that I just haven't done much with it. :P

Well at least it would be some dps vs none with my prot paladin. Most targets dont even get close to my shaman before they get blasted, so it kinda sucks that he just sits there. At least as a shockadin he could do something, plus there is nothing I want to buy pvp wise for my prot paladin and I have all this honor + marks stockpiled.
edit: what I really need to do is level another shaman so I can pvp with 5. 4+a nonranged dps just seems so wrong.

ok as an update, I searched around and found a few threads and a video. Basically this is a dead spec and I watched someone "pwning" BGs with their shockadin spec and it was laughable. OOOOoo did you just 3.4k crit that guy with holy shock?!? OMG call the police, he's armed and dangerous! I felt bad watching the video, because that guy seriously thought it was a good pvp spec.

Yeah, that's what I read as well, though it isn't as bad as holy priest dps. :P
On a related note, I thought the point of having a prot pally/war tank was to give you a "hard" target as your main that wouldn't keel over from 3 hits from a hard-hitting melee class, not to give you a 5th DPS. Sure, it feels lame when he doesn't do anything to those ranged targets but when that rogue pops on you and does pitiful dmg, it's pretty nifty.

I'm going to try prot pally with healing pvp gear. I think with lots of mana + the prot talents that your tank will become more effective. At least that way you can contribute to the dps and longer. Of course, I have yet to test it, so your mileage may vary.

I just dual specced my pally holy, mostly because I raid, and we have plenty of tanks. A holy pally is an excellent pvp healer.
