View Full Version : Castsequence - why is it acting like this?

Here is what I would like to accomplish:

Moonkin1)
Assist tank
Cast moonfire
Cast starfire once
Heal tank
Cast starfire twice

Moonkin2)
Assist tank
Cast moonfire
Cast starfire twice
Heal tank
cast starfire once

I thought the following macros would work:

Moonkin1)
/assist Tank
/castsequence reset=combat Moonfire, Starfire, , Starfire, Starfire
/cast [target=Tank] Nourish

Moonkin2)
/assist Tank
/castsequence reset=combat Moonfire, Starfire, Starfire, , Starfire
/cast [target=Tank] Nourish

However, what seems to happen is everything goes normally until the first nourish. From then on every toon just alternates casting one starfire and then one nourish. It continues to do that, never even getting back to the moonfire and it never casts multiple starfires in a row... always one starfire, one nourish. What am I doing wrong or is this type of system not possible? In truth what I want to do is have all four druids casting HoTs at different times as they go through their castsequence, but I tried to make the example easier to get an answer about the castsequence mechanics.

Thanks!

That's due to lag. The cast sequence waits with casting the next starfire until the previous starfire cast has finished casting on your client. When the previous cast has finished on the server (and your client hasn't detected it due to lag), your client will do a fallthrough and cast the nourish.

Try the following:
/castsequence starfire, starfire
/cast nourish

This will usually cast nourish after every starfire, even though there is no fallthrough.

Very interesting, I'll test this out tonight.

Any solution?

Try turning the sequence around.

/castsequence [target=tank] Nourish,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, (insert more commas for timing)
/castsequence reset=combat Moonfire, Starfire, Starfire, Starfire

Casting nourish will take you out of moonkin form though. You need something to put you back in.

/cast [nostance,5] moonkin form

I think that'll do the trick. If you're out of moonkin, it'll put you in moonkin. If you're in moonkin, it'll do nothing.

"nostance" = not shapeshifted
"5" = moonkin form
(1 = bear, 2 = cat, etc.. just count from the left)

I'm trying to do a system with 3 or 4 "moonkins" who cast heals while they DPS. I may just go with the dedicated healer, but my best +healing is only at 1200 right now, which likely isn't enough to heal heroics.
