I've recently changed my main druid from resto to a bear tank and want to put it in a 5man PVE group.

Now, I have 3 lvl 60 shaman, so that makes 4. But I don't know what to put in as my fifth?

Would adding a druid in there help out? Or should I just level another shaman? Is there any other class that would slot into that fifth spot well?

thanks, ioho.

Here is my thought process with a little back history,

i started boxing 5x shaman
then in wotlk after lvl 80 i leveled a pallie and did the pallie+4 shaman to make heroics go smoother ( all shaman elemental)
recently i added a mage and boomkin to the group and got them "decently geared" see also both have atleast the superior achievment, the boomking and mage add uniqueness and are fun to play but the boomnkins dps suffers horribly from me not micro managing eclipse procs etc which is difficult to do in a boxing gorup. the mage however has shined and is holding with if not passing the shaman in dps and provides food+ports+int buff, but then the druid even ding 30-40% less dps than the shaman does bring GotW to the group which is nice. i can clear most heroics with both sets ( havent bothered trying occulus and tribunal in heroic SoH gves me problems),s o its really up to you, im afraid im dropping the boomkin and putting a shaman back in for pallie+3sham+mage.

starfall is fun but not great dps
thorns are neglible damage with a pally tank
+to hit is nice but since i only do heroic 5 man with my box team i dont really need it
the sp damage debuff is nice, ir ealy like the boomkin dont get me wrong but even with all those little buffs my group dps is significally greater with the mage+3sham for dps

oh yeah i dont really use mouse broadcasting of any kind so aoe is a nightmare at best which when i do use it the boomkin dps is on par

I currently have 4 shaman and either a pally or a dk as a tank for heroics. I have no problem using either but I miss the sp dmg debuff when I use my pally. So I just started leveling up a druid (currently at 39) to replace one shaman when using my paladin as my tank.

But reading this, I may be better off keeping my DK as the tank and replacing one shammy with a mage...

I'm looking to have the best possible team from my toons to farm heroics like mad in 3.2. decisions decisions...

i really dont know what im gonna do, the boomkin is my JC'er so no real loss there just have to log on and do dailies with her, but it is a fun class and something different to the mix, just wish it was more efficient to handle all the procs and aoe's. but like i also said, I can clear 90% of the heroics with either setup.

Well, as my tank is going to be a druid, a boomkin wouldn't bring motw or thorns, just the moonkin aura. so would druid/3xshaman/mage be better, for water, food buff, ports?

A druid tank doesn't bring the 13% increased spell damage that a moonkin (lock/DK) does.

so you're saying one moonkin then?

Since you were pointing out that a moonkin wouldn't bring anything extra to the table that a druid tank couldn't, I was just pointing out that one of the greatest buffs a moonkin can bring.

Not to mention that the boomkin will likely spec into improved MotW (i havent looked at druid talents in a while, this may have changed)

If you bring a mage, you have a place for all your cloth to go.... I personally love the portals.

Ive run heroics with just my 3 mages, and I have run my tank and healer with another boxers 3 shaman, and the biggest difference was the fact that Mages are very bursty, which on heroic fights, seems to work in my favor. In Raids, the shaman often out DPS me on longer fights, most likely due to me having to conserve mana on my mages.

It's definately a tough choice. Why not lvl both and see for yourself?
