Firstly I am new to this, so please forgive my ignorance.
I've been dual boxing EQ2 for a month or so on 2 side by side PCs on my desk. It's getting cumbersome to use two keyboards and I'd like to try some software to help out.
What I am looking for is just a multiplexer emulator that will allow me to use a few keystrokes and on the primary pc and have the secondary perform the same keystrokes. I don't need any additional functionality at the moment. A free program would be preferable, but I would be willing to pay a small amount.
If anyone could suggest a name for me it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Thanks for the list. I saw that earlier when I was reading the FAQ, but I was not sure which ones would have the functionality I need and would be suitable for EQ2. I was going to ask in the new multi-boxers section but it seems to be wow oriented and wanted the opinion of some EQ2'ers.

You could try HKN for it. EQ2 specific info may be found on the EQ2-Forum of HKN: http://hotkeynet.com/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=19

The majority of posters here are playing WoW but if its not a wow specific sub section then feel free to post your questions wherever. This isnt wowboxing.com =P

I use Inner-Space and IS-Boxer. There are some very well-documented posts in this forum (and maybe the wiki?) detailing SOE’s acceptance of Innerspace as a valid tool in EQ2. So, while I wouldn’t even consider risking my WoW accounts by using Inner-Space, I feel completely comfortable using it in EQ2. It seems that there is simply a different stance between the two companies.
I got comfortable using Octopus in WoW, and some of the capabilities are similar between the two products (broadcasting keys, window layouts, etc.) It still takes a fair amount of time to set up, but is pretty comprehensive and works quite well. While not free, the licensing cost is quite reasonable ($10 for a 3-month license, which can be used on multiple machines if you want).

Hey jess
In regards to EQ2 software - I think you will find the majority of ppl use innerspace + keyclone (innerspace is required due to lock forward issues)
Pyro has a guide here ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&postID=48859') in regards to setup
Keyclone has a once off cost (pretty cheap when you consider the amount of effort put into it) but something in the back of my head says innerspace has a recurring cost - so do your research first
The EQ2 specific wiki ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/mediawiki/index.php/Everquest_II') also lists some other guides which you may find useful (down the bottom - software setup guides)
As mentioned - HKN is another option but requires a fair amount of scripting which may not be what you are after when reviewing your OP
On the other side of the coin, there is always hardware boxing (vetra, et. al., which is how I am setup) but it is pretty expensive if you're just having a play with boxing
Good luck and welcome to EQ2 boxing!

Thanks for all the suggestions!
I downloaded HotKeyNet and had it doing exactly what I needed within 20 minutes.

Gratz on that, I just started using it, was using Octopus but since I am working with Win 7 now it has not worked so well, so messing with HKN since last night, just messing with some of the settings and getting all my set up the way I want it since I 5 box WoW on 1 computer.

It would be very nice of you, if you could post your script in the EQ2-Forum on hotkeynet.com (which needs some more working examples), so that some others could also profit from your setup.

What I did was super simple, I hardly feel it's worth posting. I just set the keys 1-9 on the master to broadcast keys 1-9 on the slave and put similar macros on the hotbar for each number (like 1 is initiate attack/debuff on both, another key is heal target/heal self... etc) and added a keystroke to toggle hotkeys on and off. I still use a mouse for the second box but can probably eliminate that.
I'll be playing with more options later, thats all I had the patience for before playing. Going to try and incorporate the mouseclick feature and figure out what I'd like to do with the other buttons on my G5 mouse.
It's a pretty cool program. Unfortunately most of the sample scripts are for wow and there are commands which will not work with EQ2.
