I'm still new, but I've quickly worked out that these guys are actually helpful once you get past the crankiness!

There is, however lots of stuff to read, and this forum responds very well to specific questions. So I'd advise that you do some homework, try out some stuff, and come back when (not if) you get stuck. You'll find a lot of help here.
