Hello all!
Been trolling around on these forums for quite awhile now, just soaking in all the information. I've been using 2 machines for the longest time, but its always been have the lowbie on autofollow while the high level blazes through an instance, for power leveling purposes.
Finally took the plunge and got 3 more accounts, to start 5-accounting it. Although my hardware isnt quite up to snuff yet, it is doing well for the lowbie areas. Started out with a 5man shaman cause i've gathered its the easiest to grasp, and i'll try out the "holy-trinity" later on once i get a better feel for controlling everything.
Running 5 copies of wow on a single PowerMac G5, 2.7ghz Dual processor (2 single core procs) with 2.5gigs of RAM, and a ATI 800xt card. Didnt think it could handle it, but running background windows limited to 15fps, and the forground to 30fps. everything appears smooth, and ive only ever had problems with frame rates dropping below the preset rates when i go into Orgrimmar. All 5 copies are on the same 30" Cinema display, along with a window open for thottbot, ventrillo, and clonekey. Tried to hook up my 23" Cinema display to the second graphics port but the frame rates took a dive big time.
Been holding back on getting new hardware, because MacWorld2008 is in January, and everyone is buzing about the new MacPro going to 45nm Penryn chips, Speed getting a bump, and the double quadcores coming down in price. Hopefully they give us something better than a watered down ati 1900 series card. Nice thing about the new ones compared to mine is that i can run 2 gfx cards so i can hook up my second monitor again. Digging around i found that when i hook up my second monitor to the gfx card in the machine i have now, it splits the video ram in half and uses each half for each monitor. thats probably why the frame rates went to the crapper.
On a side note, got numerous threats of being reported, and got some of my toons randomly teleported to GM Island. Then kicked out when i tried to explore it, LOL! Still waiting for a GM to talk to me, but i guess they already know whats going on and are letting me be?
I swear i should make my guild name <Questions? goto www,dual-boxing,com> because i cant quest sometimes with all the tells coming in.
Sorry about the long winded post, the coffee hit me hard this morning
