alot of new laptops are running a sheared memmery with video and ram is there any way a desktop can do this? i hade 2 huge video cards and lacking on ram so it would help alot lol

Yes - but not in a way that would be helpful to you.

Desktops can do it if they have an integrated controller - but even then you can only steal system memory to give it to graphics. Neither of these would help you. I'm not sure how you would end up with 2 high end graphics cards (expensive) and low memory (cheap)

you can not take memory from the grafics and give to the system ram pool.

do yourself a favor and buy more ram.

how many wow are you running on one computer?
and what is the specs of this computer?

my system is an i7-920 3gigs ram 2x 9800gtx+ oc no sli <quadscreen> and i got a steal on the 9800gtx's so thats y i got the video cards first i did want the ram first lol
now i need it im runing a 4x shammy group but my system is for gamming i play alot of games im having ram issuse with crysis im runing at 98% on high detaili thank i would be ok but the os seams to take a gig to itself <vista>
seams a bit off to me but hell what do i know ;p been like that sines i got itshammys run at 80% on ram usage i gess im ganna hit graigs list tri to trade a 4850 ati card for some ram roflmao kinda broke atm just moved into my first apt =)

Shared memory = bad.
Shared memory = cheap.

Pick which one matters more when purchasing. ;)

Keep in mind they are exclusive as well. If you have 3 gb of ram and reserve 1gb for video usage, the rest of your system will only have 2gb regardless of how much of that 1gb of reserved for video ram uses.

This also does Not work backwards to my knowledge... You can not extend system memory via GPU RAM sharing from a dedicated graphics card.
