View Full Version : 5 Bnet Accounts?

I run my copies of WoW out of the same directory, so merging to one account means having to click to select which subaccount to use.
I figure this wouldn't be a problem if I merged my 5 accounts to 5 different bnet accounts.
Has anyone done this before? Does it run afoul of any rules?

I wouldn't see any problem with it, other than that you would need 5 email addresses :pinch:
Id just stick out not having them, or make 5 different directories

Your logic is sound. You can save the account name so all you need to enter is the password (which can be the same on them all). You can tie the same authenticator to all the accounts also.
The only problem I see is possible difficulty transfering toons between accounts, should you want to do that. I recall reading some customer service posts about issues with transfers between different Bnet accounts, even with the same name on the accounts.
Edit: If they haven't fixed this issue then you could still call Customer Service to do transfers.

Ouch. Logic seems sound yes, but I would think complicating your emails (5 emails? better get a forwarder) isn't worth it. maybe look into symlinking your folders? InnerSpace can virtualize your config files as well. Saves me a hella headache on login every time.
Edit: if you DON'T virtualize the files or symlink your folders, and you run them all from 1 folder. it's still going to show up with the last exited wow's subaccount already selected for each of the 5.
So if you fire up all 5. and exit account 3 last. next time, all 5 will start up with account3 selected. You'll have to go manually change the sub account in the drop down every time.

5 battle net accounts will not solve your problem.
Right now you have 1 wow folder, 1 shared config.wtf. WoW saves it's account name and the last used battle net account in the config.wtf so you are having to select accounts each time.
In the event you got yourself 5 battle net accounts, then you have to type in 5 e-mail addresses each time.
To fix this, address the issue, not the symptom! Virtualize your config.wtf with Innerspace, use 5 full copies of wow, or use symlinks to create virtual copies of wow and have real copies of config.wtf.

Out of interest, why do you want to convert your five individual WoW accounts to five individual Battle.net accounts?
Is there some benefit that I'm not seeing here?

Has anyone done this before? Does it run afoul of any rules? This means you currently type in 5 separate user names right? If not, then you already have it setup for different WTF files which means you won't have to chose from the dropdown after the first login.

I use keyclone.Ah, then in that case bug Rob to add the same inline edit that he does for account names to support battle net account choices.
