Aion closed beta is starting up today, it looks pretty good, and possibly a nice contender. Is anyone planning on attempting to dual-box this in the beta to see if it is doable? Interested to hear results.

Great i was about to do champions-online when i started reading and see some videos of this game. This game looks so awesome. The question is what class should i pick. In champions i was going to make a toon like the DK (love playing dk) melee toon with spells. This game doesn't have this though. So I am between Sorcerer, Assassin, and Spirtmaster.

Apparently you need to pre-order the game to get into the closed beta which opens today. There might be another route. Was wondering if anyone slapped down the cash to do so haha.

Apparently it can be boxed well, there has been serious fights about it because some folks are already boxing it.

And of course there is the usual idiocy where some try to link botting to boxing.

I always try any new MMOs.. never know when the next best thing will be out. I will give this a shot as well. I mean I bought two CEs of warrhammer and Conan. And I do not play either of those now. But I get the CEs because I can afford it, and just in case I end up staying hehe. So yes.. i just slapped down the cash for Aion CE so i can get in beta lol

if i like it. ill get another CE and try to box it 8)

i preordered after playing the China retail.

already got into closed beta weekend #1 & #2, playing right now on this 3rd one.

if you want to try multi boxing, lookup the English Patch, and logon to a new china server (newest ones have a free period), and try multiboxing without dropping the cash on multiple pre-orders.

I preordered the CE from amazon a couple weeks ago (missed the first few beta weekends) - how do you get your access? I don't see any emails - for AOC I had a code in my amazon "digital library" but not for Aion (yet) ... any idea ? if you got email, what was the "from" so I check my spam/logs ?

My self and My wife both have pre ordered AION. Yes they are right you need to pre order to get access to the Beta Events.

Just wanted throw out this note regarding BETA. For all the want to try the game is pretty sick IMO. With Beta access though... They are doing "events" meaning they only open up access for approx 4 days. They then close all access to the game for about 1-3 weeks and re open it up with a new level cap for another approx 4 days. So if you end up really liking the game its a huge tease :)

Regarding the boxing part... I have seen people box it. I personaly have not tried it yet but as soon as I get the time I will do so for you guys.

Isn't "Aion = NCSoft"? So you probably have to keep Gameguard running, their lazy a$$ anti-bot crap, which prevents software like Keyclone from running properly...

On a side note, isnt "NCSoft MMO = grinding central" still true? Am never ever going to touch anything with their name on it since trying Lineage II.

Aion is not Grind Central. They are redoing the American Version since they have found we prefer more of a quest based system and story line within that quest system. So Aion is quest based... I mean you can grind if you want I spose :wacko:

From what I am gathering.. haven't played it yet but RL friends have this may in fact be a sufficient WoW replacement for many, I'm going to plop down the dollars to pre-order and multibox this and see how it goes :)

It is no WoW replacement! I think people who like Aion like all those Asian style MMOs.. i hated it and deeply regret spending the money. If you like that style ( nothing wrong with it ) you might like Aion. To me it felt really dumbed down. Just looking at the very cheap "painted background" Sky turned me off as well. Also another big "no no" to me is the macro system was made to ALLOW you to automate 100%. Any game that lets you do that loses my respect on that alone. I mean..WHY have that software blocker running in the background? bot programs are just scripts that someone writes for people so they can automate game play ( be afk and gain loot/exp) In this game people will go to some site and copy paste complex macros that they could have done themselves in the game. Copy/pasting them will just make it easier for people who don't want to spend the time to make their own.

Aion is a beautiful game.

Aion is an asian game, and for those who like FFXI and other simliar games, Aion might be worth a play.

I think the main difference from WoW to Aion is the playstyle. You don't have control over your spells and actions like you do in WoW. Everything is turn-based, like a card game, you need to wait your turn for a spell to go off or a move to start, so there's no control of burst and such, fights feel like a slow grind sometimes and you have very little control over how to do things.

I didn't like it.

I didn't like FFXI for the same reason.

Pretend like every single ability you have is like Heroic Strike and you have to wait for your swing timer to reset for your cast to go off.

I don't know, not for me, some people love it. Aion may be quite different from FFXI, but the control system looks the same, perhaps I am mistaken, i hope so because I would love to play this beautiful game =)

Think we also get in-game tshirt when it goes live...I have to dig up the exact wording on the email but my hazy memory suggests the above to be pretty close unless things have changed

Just a word re mboxing though, I read that each players UI will have a big honkin' "REPORT AUTO BOT FARMER" button or similar - so I am guessing anytype of boxing will be short-lived with lots of emails back and forth trying to get accounts reset, etc., etc. Could be a real pain as I can forecast what will happen - 6? boxers ganks lonely little noob. Noob spams 'REPORT BOTZ!!' button, mboxing takes a 'holiday' for a week before they can get back on - only guessing, but sounds a pain

I have heard a great idea re the game which I haven't confirmed though - there is only 1 exp bar, so like in eq2 we have 3 (adventure, trade and aa). What this may mean in aion is that we can play whack a mole for exp, gather some items, then trade skills a new set of ac all of which are adding to our adventure exp!! I assume there will be no disco or aa (EQ2) though but no matter.

Re trades, also understand they are a lot like WoW - one click and it's done. you can also go into batch mode.

I have also heard that some of the best attacks are part of style chains (like DAoC) - so a boxer would have to think which key to hit for max DPS - plus, there is no autoqueue (EQ2).

Effex has been playing aion, i got as far as making a character while he was in the shower and then was told to "get off" ..how rude! So i have been watching it (why boosting my new fun team 4 priests) and i think it does look good, but even tho there are so many different things you do to the character ..they all look the same! some of the background music is a bit, well disney. The way they run really annoys me! The graphics are good in some places but i think i am gonna stick to wow. that's my girly opinion so it prolly doesn't count for much!

Is anyone succesfully software boxing it? ThinkI read somewhere that keyclone doesn't work with Aion.

Also, can you please give more details on the before mentioned "tbt" combat? All I've seen in videos really doesn't seem to be like that, maybe the rhytm is different but that's all.
For those already boxing the beta, can you please share more of your experience besides aestethics?

One thing I never liked about the Aion client is when the window is not in the foreground, the frame rate drops and
becomes very choppy. This is due to exported function ?appSleep@@YAXM@Z in core.dll, which calls to kernel32.Sleep,
whether or not Aion calls to Sleep is determined by a float value, to sum up this .. to keep the framerate smooth even
when Aion is a background window, we skip all of this FPU mess and call kernel32.Sleep for 1ms - the result is visible,
with the Aion game running while not the background window, notice now the framerate does not drop into some choppy
mess.

for this to work our .dll needs to load with the aion process -- so we will import via the path of least resistance,
aka: fire.dll =)) please note if you are using my echo.dll and want to use noSleep email me first, because I need to
build you a custom fire.dll that will import both!!

the included fire.dll is from CT2.1, if you are using Interlude, please attach DllEntryPoint from noSleep.dll via
LordPE or CFFExplorer.

No its not hard... there is a readme in the .rar file. And no they cant Ban you for disable GG :thumbsup:

One thing I don't get is: as far as I've read it, they created it to stop botting, how come we can disable it and not be banned... it does put botters totally free to bot too....
