Hello. Taking the jump to 10 boxing. Just had a full questions if anyone would like to help out. I have the games shipping next week so that part is done. I have the keyboard, 2 computers, 2 monitors and mouse. Should i go synergy or kvm switch? Which one will broadcast the keystrokes to both keyclones on both computers? If i go synergy route, do i need to download it for both computers? Do i need a cable connecting the 2 computers? Is there anything esle i need that im missing lol? Ive been reading people running naxx for like the last couple months and finally decided to try my luck. If anyone wants to help out or give some advice im all ears:)
You know you can connect one keyclone to the other?
Just type in the ip address of the 2nd pc in the field next to connect, hit connect and both keyclones are linked.

no i did not.....well that answers most of my questions. So basically the only thing synergy would be used for is mouseing over to the other screen? It would probably just be easier with a mouse for each computer?
That's how I do it, both computers have their own mouse.

You can also use Input Director. If you don't want to have to use 2 different mice. Plus it doesn't have that spinning world effect like synergy can sometimes with the mouse.

Freddie could probably confirm, but I think with HotKeyNet can send mouse clicks from one computer to another IP address, thereby eliminating the need for the second mouse (for AoE spells). For actual mouse movement you'd still need another solution, but from a WoW perspective I think HKN can handle it all.

Ya I use seperate mice also. Much quicker and that spining stuff with synergy was brutal. I tried keyclone for the multiplexing . It wasn't very good. Occasionally I had to restart it. Perhaps that has been fixed now or it could have been another issue with my computer, but the in end I got a hardware multiplexer instead which runs like a dream. I would suggest first trying all software routes like your doing first- there much cheaper. :).
Also, look into how your going to bind keys and macros. I had limited space on my keyboard so buying a nostromo n52, g15 keyboard or an xkeys would be an asset to your 10 man.
Good luck.

Hardware Multiplexer? Is that like a kvm switch? I want it to run smoothly, is there a delay between computers with keyclone?

When using 2 (or more) computers it really helps a lot if you can control both computers using only 1 keyboards+mouse. I personally started by using Synergy, but since it has that nasty spinning bug i was forcer to use 2 mouse for a while. Then I bought Multiplicity ('http://www.stardock.com/products/multiplicity/') and it made my life so much easier. You should look into Input Director ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=18528'). I would probably use that if i haven't already bought Multiplicity.
I'm using InnerSpace for multiboxing. It has really good mouse broadcasting for in-game clicks. For everything else I just mouseover to other computer and control it like it was my main computer.

Its like a kvm But also allows you to send keystrokes from one keyboard to multple pcs simultaneously as if the keyboard was hooked up individually. Keybind keyboard function to pick and choose between broadcast mode individual mode etc. It works instantly. No hickups or latency. There is tons of info in the hardware section.

UPDATE
Alright group is looking like my 5 80s Prot pally, Resto Druid, Destro warlock, Marks Hunter and fire mage. Im looking at adding a prot Warrior, Holy Priest, 2 shamans and an ice mage. If shaman totems are raid wide i might trade out one of them. My hunter may go beastmaster, not to sure on that one either. Comments or suggestions?

Micro managing a warrior tank while 5 boxing is not easy( so 10 would be that much harder). Warriors have a lot more to do, and do right, to be effective tanks. Paladins can tank good enough for what you will need and are very easy to use. SO two prot palies might be better choice IMO. Or a DK, but Palies are the easiest tanks for multi-boxing IMO

It requires to more buttons.
1) Charge
2) Shockwave
My tanking macro is just as simple as my Paladin's
Quoted
/cast [equipped:shields] Shield Block
/castrandom Devastate, Shield Slam, Revenge, Thunder Clap
/use 13
/use 14
Interesting, Fur. When I tank with my prot warrior I manually click on charge (like I manually click on Avenger's Shield when using my pally) to start the fights, and have only more more button besides the spam one. However, you put Shockwave in on the "additional button" and put Thunder Clap into your spam macro. From what I've seen, Thunder Clap needs to be going every single time it is up to ensure I'm keeping multi-mob aggro, so putting it in the spam /castrandom would mean I'd have mobs on my DPSers/healers a lot.
Hence, I put the Devastate into my spam /castrandom and Thunder Clap into my "additional button". Devastate is obviously better than Thunder Clap, but its cooldown is so much longer I think it is better to be able to control Thunder Clap than Devastate. Any thoughts?

I never had any issues using Keyclone to broadcast between my three computers.
Each computer has a keyboard and mouse as well. I have my main Keyclone set to only send. The others send and receive. So, you have some options what you want to do.
Based on a suggestion on this board I also switched to Input Director from Synergy. ID is far superior. The ability to use my main mouse/keyboard on any of my computers has it's uses.
I have never used hardware switches or anything, so I cannot really compare.
