View Full Version : Jamba, follow strobe, and all melee groups

I'm currently RAF instance boosting five rogues to 60. For levels 1-8 I turned on follow strobe, and liked how it operated. But looking forward to 60 I'm a little concerned that follow strobe happening after a Shadowstep might turn some of my toons away from facing the back of the target.

Is it possible to enable follow strobe in Jamba only during combat?

Anyone else have experience with melee groups (specifically rogues) and other options to keep them following during combat?

You can macro up the follow strobe start and stop commands.

If some of your toons do turn the wrong way, you can use the Interact with Target action combined with Click to Move to get your toons facing the correct way.

You can also ask for a feature in Jamba where follow strobing only works in combat... I might be able to add that in if you really want it.

I've got the follow strobe command macroed with my /invite team command for jamba on my main and the command to turn off strobe set to the down arrow key with bartender addon. when i hit that, all my slaves step back, stops following, and it turns off strobing at the same time. i have to press it a few times tho when i need to get them to stop to make sure they don't follow me into the mob's i'm pulling with my main tho. maybe that'll help you too

interesting... I tried macroing the arrow key with IS and jamba.. and it removes the movement functionality. Dont know how keyclone is accomplishing it. It's a great idea though!

It's a great idea though!Make sure you check the box to keep the keypressed when you do the keybind in the IS keymap. Otherwise it only blips the key and the movement won't happen.

1) I added strobeoff to my Shadowstep macro on main, and then strobeonme to my main's Ambush macro after the Ambush cast. Problem is the follow command tends to occur before the Ambush cast by the slaves, so sometimes one or more turn the wrong way.

2) Interact With Target from stealth causes auto-attack to start, which breaks stealth and defeats the whole point of using an opener.

3) As a programmer myself, I don't want to make a request that I'm not sure will solve my issue. Let me tinker with it some more, but if you think you can add that feature because others might want it, then don't let me hold you up :D

Will that work? I can add a new option and value into Jamba-Follow for you, or add the delay as a parameter to the strobeonme slash command.
2) Ah, I've not played a rogue much.
3) I'm keen to help solve your issue, most features to Jamba have been added because one person asked.

These are interesting concepts. I've not played a rogue in over 2 years myself, and these five I boosted and granted all the way to 60 so I'm still getting a feel for it myself.

For the moment I'm trying the strobeonme as a completely separate macro. The problem that I see at the moment of even a delay to the follow command is that there may be lots and lots of situations where the toons need to stay perfectly still, stacked, and facing the same way after a Shadowstep. Examples would be PvP when the target will not automatically turn to face the rogues and PvE against a raid boss (or heavy HP elite) where the rogues need to stay behind the target for an extended period of time.

Now if I could find a way to have the follow strobe begin when I move the main again, maybe somehow using either WoW or Keyclone to trigger the macro when I press a movement key, that may actually be the best solution. Shadowstep macro removes the strobe, and it only starts up again when I explicitly run a strobeonme macro and/or move the main.

OK, I've finally had an idea...

First, is there a command in Jamba already that would be similar to...
/jamba-follow strobeonmaster all

And second, could that command be issued by a toon other than the Master?

My thought was that I could bind WASD either through Keyclone or the WoW interface so that pressing movement keys on the Master would cause a slave to execute a Jamba command to enable follow strobing to the Master.
