Hey y'all.

My shaman team dinged 80 on Saturday, after two weeks of questing through Northrend. I took the masochists option of doing every single quest in every zone including collection quests, with only 2 or 3 skipped. I did Howling Fjord, Borean Tundra, Dragonblight, Grizzly Hills, Zul'drak and Icecrown, dinging 80 halfway through Icecrown. Also took the plunge and splashed out 26,000 gold on fast flyers as I couldn't handle the slowness of questing in Icecrown without them.

Anyway, now I need to look at gearing myself up from the quest greens and blues I currently have. I was wondering if anyone could advise on the quickest/easiest route to getting kitted out with epic caster gear. Normally I'd spend loads of time researching this myself, but work is keeping me very busy these days and I don't have much spare time.

My guild have already said I can take the team on our Friday night "special needs" Naxx25 runs, so I hope to have full tier 7.5 on the team eventually, but that'll take several weeks. What else can I be looking to get from other sources in the meantime? I don't see much point in running loads of heroic 5-mans and accumulating Emblems of Heroism, with them being phased out when 3.2 hits. Are there any very good craftable items that no elemental shaman should be without?

Any words of advice from anyone who has already researched all this would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for asking to be spoon fed, but as I say, time is a rare commodity for me atm.

o.O ? does not compute! took me almost 2 months to get through northrend ... lol - may be i'm teh suck @ questing tho ... i must be doing something majorly wrong here, cuz I'm nowhere near 26k gold and I've got "some" spare time ... would love to know how you knocked off 70-80 and 26,000 gold in the small amount of time you're on

If you have plenty of gold left there are crafted runed orb boots, uludar boe legs (although they are really resto shaman pants), valor badge bracers, tournament dagger or titansteel guardian. WG for trinket/chest/belt, run 10 arena games a week in 5s for a free 344 points... coupled with the honor from wg should easily be able to buy 1 piece of hateful a week without much effort.

Putting in too much time/effort before 3.2 getting this stuff is silly though considering you don't even have enough to open up wowhead. Nearly everything will be easily replaced with upgrades in a month or so when the patch pushes.

In addition to all that stuff, there is a shit ton of BoE gear, check up on Wowhead a bit and on the AH. Depending on the route you're going, you may be able to get geared up pretty quick that way, especially if you have some g left after dropping on those flying mounts.

Titanium Spellshock Ring and Necklace would be nice, fairly cheap too, I got mine for like 400g for the ring. Didn't get the necklace cuz I already had a good one.

I resubbed on Saturday 20th June and dinged 80 on the Saturday just gone.

I already had 20,000 gold saved in my boxing guild bank back from when I was doing Quel'Danas dailies at level 70. But I realised it was an extra 11,000 gold I needed with Cold Weather Flying included. The team earned that extra gold from questing and vendoring quest rewards. I used an item price addon to make sure I always chose the most valuable quest reward to sell to vendors. One of them was sharding everything though.

As mentioned, the AH will get you a decent assortment of gear.

Heroics will be upgrades as well. In 3.2, heroics will drop Conquest badges, which will get you much better gear then you can buy with badges now. Plus you can downgrade Conquest badges to Valor and Heroism, if you really want something.. for example, say a [Sundial of the Exiled] (84 crit, chance on cast of harmful spell +590 spellpower for 10 seconds).

Depending on your ability to not be frustrated through a ton of deaths at first, PvP is a strong option too. Go with 10 arena games per week, which is almost enough pts to buy one piece. Think of it as 90% of a piece, very cheaply each week. It's something like 12k honor and 360 arena points for a piece (with 344 a week earnt in the arena minimum) or 48.6k honor without arena points. A full set of Deadly gear (one step below the current best arena point only set) from battleground pvp is a decent option to gear with.

You can of course go for both.

Your Naxx runs are going to be nice. Still if you're running with say 4 shammies and a tank or five shammies, that's basically 4x as long as running 1 shammy, since they'll each want the spell damage mace that drops etc.

my shammies are wearing a few epics from wintersgrasp and pieces bought with honor, the wg gear has a good amount of +hit and there's nice shoulders, pendants and rings for honor - combine those with AH gear & weps and you should be ok. I recommend farming HDTK for the pants for shammies - my shammies do well in heroics with this gear because of massive +stam although I do suffer occasionaly from mana issues but nothing a mana pot doesn't fix
